Will DRK be the same as PLD?

I am trying so very hard to get interested in PLD and level it up and learn how to tank well but I am afraid I am literally losing my mind out of sheer boredom.

Am I saying PLD is bad? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But all it seems to do is be a huge slamdown of short duration buffs with ridiculously stupidly long cooldown timers. That literally looks like the entire kit of a PLD. Bam you have a ton of buffs with 20 seconds duration that then go down on cooldown for 5 minutes and you basically have over half the kit dedicated to this buffing.

Will DRK be the same way? I am not sure if I am looking at PLD the wrong way or not but holy poop this is getting boring at an insanely fast pace. I will not and can not play DRK if it is this way.

They're making PLD more complex in the expansion, and DRK definitely won't be as simple as 2.0 PLD.

I doubt any of the 3.0 classes will be as simple as the current ones. They all seem to have alot to manage, require a level 50 character to obtain, and DRK looks like its resources will be tricky to use.

And seeing as 3.0 content will be behind all the currently released primals, im sure the classes are designed for you to already be savvy to tank/heal/dps mechanics.

DRK has a Ranged pull, a jump, constant AOE threat generator, skills from WAR and PLD, Darkside, Dark Arts and much more.

DRK will undoubtedly be more "active" than a PLD on the simple basis of Darkside and Dark Arts. I doubt SE will make the same mistake with DRK that they made with PLD.

DRK will have you stance dancing to keep up with your MP-stance and Tanking-stance.

So... no not like PLD at all.

But side question, why do you say PLD is a boring class? Sure, it has like what, very few oGCD abilities and most of the oGCD are buffs with moderate cooldown, but hey you gotta give credit to the class for having one of the best survival kit there is.

Most reports indicate that Drk is going to be the most involved of the 3 tanking jobs, while Pld is getting an overhaul that will make it engaging, while still remaining easier than the two others. So in term of difficulty / intricacy, you are looking at:

Drk > War > post-HW Pld > pre-HW Pld

I hope DRK is exactly like PLD.

Though if you look at everything objectively, simplify and breakdown each class enough, you find the majority of classes/jobs play the similarly regardless!

I mean, you have your bread & butter combo, fillers and min/max debuffs, situational/reactive abilities, hard cooldowns, soft cooldowns...

I'm curious to see how Dark Knight's spin on it all though!

Consistent normal damage and mp management.

PLD has straightforward cooldowns.

The strange part about DRK is that a wide range of their skills is magic based, such as their pull attack and probably the aoe dot they can place, meaning they wont benefit from slashing debuffs as well as war and pld. It's also the only tank that can amplify defensive cooldowns.

What I'm hoping is that dark knight is the highest difficulty tank with the trade-off being a wide variety of tools, otherwise I won't even bother. I love my warrior but the only challenging aspect to that job is timing inner beast.

To Op. no DRK won't be likePLDs at all! I think they will be the exact opposite of PLD. I don't like PLD due to it being too simplistic. DRK is definitely the most complicated out of all the 3 tanks... i wonder how many people will still to DRK once they start reaching end game content. I hope I like it myself..if so I won't be starting 3.0 for awhile... if not...well Dragoon here I come!-again lol.

There is no stance dancing grit and darkside can stack.
