How are you guys preparing for the expansion?

I'm new to the mmo world and this is my first expansion. I was wondering what are the experienced players doing to prepare? I read about saving my leves. Just looking for any other helpful tips.

Getting my BTN to 50 and stocking up on mats.

Get as many jobs to 50 as you can and get as much gear as you can so you don't have to rely on quest rewards or crafting til after 55.

I am leveling my remaining classes to 50 and making sure I have 99 leves points ready for the expansion. Aside from that, maybe craft a level 30 armour set for my AST.

Figure out what you're gonna do come the expansion and act accordingly :P. Maybe save some gil and GC seals?

I'm personally trying to get the triple triad cards I don't have yet and allied seals to buy the gear with fur on it (twin adders gear) for Ishgard. I don't have much else to do. I'm gearing my paladin but that's with poetics, and they're capped so not much else to do. I wanted to get my dragoon zeta and my fisher to 50 before the expansion, and I'm done with that.

I have everyone one to 50 except MAR and DRN. I don't think I will ever level them up. I recently got all of my crafters to 50. I'm trying to decided if it is work getting will of tools. They are freaking expensive and will be outdated soon. My lowest ilvl gear is 104. Maybe I just should focus on getting better gear but I think I'm going to leave some jobs behind.

Helping my friend make an end of 2.0 video! Capping GC seals is the only thing that I've really done for preparation.

I am trying to clear all the raid-level things I haven't done yet. Finish coils, clear Titan/Ifrit Ex. Getting my Zeta relic. After that? Possibly pony farm? I dunno yet.

Clearing my backlog. Gotta finish all those other games before the 19th. Wait, Steam summer sale is approaching? NO GABEN, MERCY!

Clean out your inventory!

I know I want to spend as much time doing new content as possible, and would be annoyed to have to stop and spend an hour or two reorganizing instead of pressing onward with the story or new exploration.

I'll also second clearing the backlog of other games. Since so much time will be spent on FFXIV after it has so much more to do, it makes sense to play through some single-player games "while we have the chance."

Yes. I do need to clean out my retainers. I have hoarded so much crap because I always think "I may need that one day" lol

Pretty sure it was said they will use DEX.

im leveling every gathering class and crafting class as much as possible and trying to finish grinding for my ironworks gear

It's gonna use DEX, and it's going to be sharing the BRD gear for pre-60 stuff, from what I've heard.
Though this isn't exactly a huge leap in logic.

Do you know if I should go for ninja or bard gear? I know I read somewhere that they would share gear with X job but I dont remember which one

Farming hunts so I can get a Flame Elite gun (if it will even exist) for my Machinist, and farming MGP to get the rest of the Gambler's set for my MCH glamour.

So essentially, just a bunch of glamour stuff.

I'm just working on getting my Zeta relic with a bit of leveling my NIN to 50 to break the monotony. I've already beaten the extreme primals at least once, and I'm not gonna be too worried if I don't unlock final Coil before expansion hits.

i've done all i've set out to, so i got a good 12½ day break. Only thing really left is get the leftover items to sell... got savages, coils, fishies, 2x Zetas, luminaries (except min/btn), all lucis, r45 pvp, 77 cards (stupid tidus/WoL/cloud), 2 GC seals capped, kirin, machinist gear all the way up to 50 (55 if DW bardgear counts) and of course my lovely Adamantoise mount...

Doing the sightseeing log,
I have all my lucis tools and in no rush to finish my light grind when its going to get nerfed.

I would cap Tomes but I'm already ilvl130 on my main class and I'll craft most of my gear by the time I get another battle class to 60 or I'll have gotten some gear drops from running with friends who started a bit later than me, so that seems like wasted effort and I am sick to death of running the same 3 dungeons anyway.

So mainly just enjoying the last bit of down time before I have another long laundry list of stuff I want to get done before 3.1. :p

I am hoarding a crapton of gil and uhh... mostly just passing time till the 19th. :3

Screaming really loudly to my friends and crying over cute glamour outfits.

I am finishing up my BLM zeta and trying to get all of the cross-class skills for my BRD. Other than that, I am ready to go!

Nothing special. Will have enough time to get to 60 before raid opens. :)

Taking care the preparatives and cleaning my CPU for the super massive servers crashes and super loading that will happen eventually xd

Running WoD until I get the last piece of demon gear I need.
Maxing out my poetics.
I already maxed soldiery and leves.

Leveled drg to 50 to go through the story with (suspect there to be different dialogue if I'm a DRG).

Caughylt up on all un-completed hard mode dungeons.

Got all soldiery gear for glamour for future classe(ess) (Blm for me) cuz they will become dungeon loot and token is better than RNG.

Meanwhile just casually farming darklight, divine and picaroon sets while doing hunts.

For when the servers crash on early access.
All that hype will literally impolde it and no one dares log out as it'll be 24/7 log in qeue lol.
Other than that i really need to do some summer cleaning in my own/ retainer inventory. Gonna need the space for heavensward item/ vanity hoarding.

Capping GC seals, making as much gil as I can from whats still selling, capping my poetics(FYI spell checker on the THIS website doesn't recognize that as a real word) each week, using soldiery to stock up on gear to desynth after expack. Other than that just getting my alt up to par. Not a whole lot to do since everything is already 50 and i110+.

I'd just say all there is to do in these last couple weeks is enjoy the game really, aside from leveling and making gil, nothing else is going to make a whole lot of difference once the expack hits.

i read too many stories of players going on a crazy grind and dying at there pc or consoles because they didnt eat.....when i do these long grinds i have refreshment with in arms reach.

Taking a break really. I'll hop one now and then to level my gathers a bit, but mostly off playing other games. I even stopped doing my relic quest because I wasn't far enough along anyways plus it seemed pointless at this point as I started on it so late. Once the expansion gets here I know I'll probably take it more casual then most, but will be playing that more than other games.

Other than "cap everything" it all depends on what you'll want to do once in HW.

For example I want to try and, if I like like, main DRK before Alexander starts but I don't want to leave my actual main behind so I stock max allowances, seals, sanctuary bonus, a nice amount of gil, 10 rowena's tokens + 1 tomestone + 1 carbontwine. I already maxed my BTN so that's all.

Well, I take the chance to clean up and reorganise inventory, retainers, macros, UI and all that..
