Give Dragoons a Tank stance.

I'm not asking for them to be a Tank. However the ability to put up a stance and tank in a pinch would be a very fun and cool mechanic to have for the class. I've always thought Dragoon's looked a bit squishier then they should be, however I am biased because I love the play-style.

Making their attacks increase threat instead of doing damage from the front.

Keen Flurry.
They're the parry-tank that Marauder was supposed to be.

Tank stance won't save you from landslide.

I've always been a bit disappointed I couldn't cross-class Keen Flurry onto Warrior....

Even without a proper stance dragoons are well equiped to tank the floor.

We actaully already have rediculous threatgen as well as strong defensive abilities. We're strong enough that we can tank on-level dungoun mobs where other classes would struggle, but not so rediculously strong that we can survive raid bosses at on-level (Though 've off-tanked bahamut once due to a mix of keener flurry and the timing of a skill coming out, along with plenty of healbombs. This is because I was overleveled though.)

Would prefer if they're going to try and give us tanking skills they just give us a new soulstone for like, a "Holy Dragoon" or something.

Only if it increases their physical defense and decreases their magic defense even further, thus making them more hilarious.

I don't see this getting added in. People already hate on Dragoon enough as is, so giving it a tank stance would just be feeding fuel to the flames. I like Dragoon the way it is personally. If I want to tank as not a tank, then my tank pet on my main can do that just fine, (and if my recent experiences with the tanks I got in The Minstrel's Ballad are anything to go by, my pet can do better than some, easily)......

If DRG gets a tank stance, I want a healer stance for PLD.

Decrease magic defense even further....? You didn't know that DRG's magic defense had been fixed since patch 2.45? That was months ago lol. DRG's mdef is currently similar to that of other DOW classes aside from actual tanks. In fact, DRGs are currently the tankiest non-tank class, with higher Pdef, higher HP, Mdef that is on par with other classes, and lots of defensive skills/cross class skills.

The only problem they have are the animation locks for jumps, which had been reduced many times (and confirmed to be reduced even further in 3.0), but that's why they have a higher hp and pdef... So they can take a hit.

Being facetious. Don't take it personally, I'm saying funny things.

What's interesting is that if you look at the gear pics for 3.0, some of the tank gear and dragoon gear look the same but with different color. I know that dragoons have shared some tank gear in the past, but it's interesting that they're continuing that trend past lv50 where dragoon gear (plus other dps DOW gear) had been exclusive to them.

Another interesting to note is that in the dragonsong trailer, there was a statue of a woman holding a spear in one hand, and a shield in the other.

Back when branching jobs from classes was still a popular theory, I had this idea where a tank job would branch off of lancer and be called VLK or valkyrie, where the job wields both shield and spear... I know that branching jobs are somewhat unlikely now, but that would've been cool, I think. And instead of a dragoon tanking, which would be weird because of all the jumping, I think it's better if they just give lancer another soulstone that would let them wield shields and have defensive and enmity increasing skills.

dont need it dragoons tank the floor just fine, plus you dont wanna be to overpower the floor.

I thought dragoons already had a tank stance that's triggered by dropping to 0 hp.

DRGs really don't need a tank stance-- we're tanky enough as it is. I've successfully tanked multiple dungeons and the story and HM Primals as a DRG as well as some clutch OTing in EX Primals and Coil. Judicious use of Keen Flurry, Foresight, Bloodbath and Second Wind plus our innate ability to generate hate make DRGs viable as MT in a lot of content if you want to have some fun and try it.

Lol I've always wanted to see paladins be able to cure for a large enough amount that it's actually useful.
And I've lost count of the number of times I've OT'ed as a DRG, they're pretty good for picking up an add or two while the real tanks are busy competing for the boss's hate.

Wouldnt mind more classes have different stances.

Paladin: Healing
Bard: Healing

Dragoon: Tanking (already does the job pretty well on the floor)
Ninja: Tanking, evasion version?

WHM: DPS, maybe spamming light and water magic?

Well now that we know healer and tanks will be expected to DPS in the 3.0 raids, we might as well give a tank and a healer stance to the current DPS.

I'm surprised this whole floor tanking joke for DRG hasn't passed, right now its like beating a dead horse and its not really funny any more and im a DRG. On-topic I don't think they need a tank stance they already have a few defensive skills.

Actually why would a DRG need a tank stance? Tanking as DRG is the same as if he's making damages : he'll end on the floor.

But on a serious note I see Ninjas and Monks take just as much damage as Dragoons so clearly they all need tank stances.

DRG is insanely tanky though, despite the floor-tank jokes. Having experienced Ranger jokes since EQ1 I can tell you now, these will NEVER go away despite the fact DRG is actually tanky as hell. Ofc, most people don't mean these maliciously, except the 2 or 3 rare peeps I've ran into that auto-vote boot DRGs.

Blood Bath, Keen Flurry, Life Surge, can cross Foresight as well -- DRG has a good amount of skills. Now if only they could X-Class Provoke and a Flash equivalent :P

I've been asking for a Tank Job for lancer for years, at least near every Live Letter English question thread. I think arcanist killed the notion of secondary Jobs with the developers, though, cause people have been complaining about Summoner/Scholar's interdependence on arcanist for as long as it's been a thing...

Possibly. A few early waves of WoWers were spillovers from EQ1 who couldn't treat EQ2 like a home yet XD IK before I bought EQ2 I did the trial of vanilla WoW and gave up.
