Downloaded PS4 EA file (1.7gb) have i done something wrong?

Just a quick one just to clarified. I purchased the CE for ps4 from the SE store. I got my email with the EA CODE. I used it last night on ps4 store. Downloaded the file that was 1.7gb (called add-on). Installed automatically. Once I launch the launcher of HW (THE one I downloaded) but it does nothing (launches the ARR launcher as normal). Is this normal? What's the next step or now you just have to wait until 19th to see something different and make it work?

Uuuuuh I think I saw something in the lodestone that says not to install it... And think the solution is you have to uninstall and reinstall XIV again >___>; I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but it sounds like it... Let me see if I can find the link. Will edit when I do.

No the issue has been solved. They took down the download for a few days and put it up again on Wednesday I think. The game works fine. My question is , am I meant to see something different when I start the HW launcher? Or just wait for the EA to see something different? Cause like I said it's been successfully downloaded and all but I'm concerned about the fact I see nothing new. That's all

Thanks just have to wait now for 19th now and see how it goes. Hopefully they gonna start shipping soon the CE for those who purchased the hard copy.

The download is most likely the Heavensward launcher. It won't work until the 19th and early access will only be available up until the 27th June I believe. You have from the 19th to the 27th to claim your pre-order items, provided you played before the 23rd June. You will then have to install the physical copy. If you bought digital then you do nothing.

It's now just a waiting game.

No, it's a pre-download.

Think about launch day. There will be hundreds of thousands of people downloading it and what will happen - slow downloads. Also it means it takes you longer to log on since you have to download the client.

This way when HW releases all you have to do is install it and then log straight one. It's pretty standard for these types of MMOs to pre-download major updates.

Is this only for the ps4 version? Aww, I wish the pc version also available for download this fast~

That was just the client. The rest of the download will be available on the 17th or 18th. Can't remember exactly. I saw it somewhere but I'm at work on my phone now so don't want to look it up.

Appreciated the answers so this is just my pass to HW . Not playing thick but what advantage have a got by just downloading this ?

You won't have to wait to download the client/launcher before you ACTUALLY download Heavensward on the 19th. There is no "advantage" other than it's a time saver. There is no getting around the download times on the 19th though.

If the work the same as the pre-order items for ARR, then there is no time limit to claim them after you register your pre-order code, every character you have or will create after you register, for the life of the game, will get the items.

I ordered the digital ce about 3 days ago and i know their is the pre-load

What everyone else said, that is just the client which won't work until the 19th with the advantage of having already downloaded the client already. Now all that's left to download is the 'game' like you would a 'patch' through the client the very 19th.

I hope the download is not too big (meaning not bigger than 40gb).

I'm still waiting for my PS3 PSN code here. My page for HW still says pending. I even put both the emails into my safe sender list.

I have a feeling all those email (they put my email in their from line) spoofers are affecting it getting sent to me, I should have gotten it by now.

acording to one site who said they 'data-mined' the 1.7 gig download, they said they didn't find much other then access scripts and what could be seen as activation scripts, as well as a lot of scripts to change a few things in game (aka a huge compatibility patch) and other then that there was no information on the PS4-add-on :3

I think that 50gb minimum is also included the original client as well. My ARR is like 14gb. I don't think the expansion itself is going to be the whole 50gb by itself.

guys i cant find the CE on the playstations store....am i missing something here? all i see is the standard edition

nevermind i found it! needed to type it in the search. It will not come up under normal search, you need to look specifically for it. I preordered the CE yay :D

I have ps4 digital version. I just did a hdd upgrade a few weeks ago. If I remember right arr is a 40 something gb's.

Yeap. Its just a prep for download. Digital pre load starts on 6/17 for those who went that route.

Do you know if purchasing CE from PS store also enables the client to be downloaded early? (like im reading about from other posts?) After I preordered my Digital CE, I was prompted for the auto-download but aside from that, nothing else has happened.

If nothing else happened, you're ok. The fact that people were downloading the client early was actually a problem. We (on PSN) will be able to pre-load the client on the 18th~19th.

You should be fine as long as its not the complete edition, as complete edition cones with ARR+HW, which does not get early access

You can check the countdown through the Library, accessing FFXIV ARR - Add on - Heavensward, that's when you may download the client. I think it's available June 16, just the client. I still have no clue if Early access will prompt us to download the entire game to us on digital or just early access portion.
