DYEABLE YAY!

The /visor feature is pretty neat~ The male set makes me want to go to Aht Urhgan and play some blue mage XD.
Also Camate jests that he'd freeze in Ishgard, but we all know snurble coats are impervious to wintery assaults.
Can't pull the tufts over our eyes!
Oh hell yes! I love how those look like. But I kinda hope that the female characters are also getting a veil option with /visor. Mysterious women are hot. *nods*
I want everyone to be able to wear both beautiful sets.
SE started out really well keeping everything even between the genders but they've been getting worse and worse lately about making gender exclusive outfits. Even more insulting sometimes is that the male exclusive outfit will be made unisex while the girls still get a unique sexy set (I can't help but think it's because we have [likely] straight males in charge of so much of this game.)
What's wrong with letting male characters wear the dress? I probably wouldn't even wear it as a set honestly, but those individual pieces are to die for for glamour. And before someone starts going off on me saying that only a tiny percentage of male characters even wear skimpy/feminine/sexy outfits I invite you to take a look around. There are sooooooo many that don't choose to wear bulky, modest clothes in this game it's ridiculous. A lot of us are girls playing male characters, probably in part because we like eye-candy just like the guys playing girls (doesn't everyone sort of?)
Frankly I'm about certain that there are thousands of players dying to make their girl characters wear that male outfit too.
Make them like the Taffeta set: Very comparable, but slightly customized for different anatomy between genders.
Aaaaw I luv them! <3 Especially the female headpiece is adorable ;-;
I love the female outfits. Totally taking the White design on the Elezen as my own.
And about the Gender exclusivity, seriously? It's because of the presumably straight developers? This is a battle I won't win, or don't like the consequences of trying lol.
*backs away*
Soo excited for these! The best part of all . . . they are dyeable!
i didnt like the female one until i saw it dyed black, now i must have it day 1
I'm shocked they actually made it possible to dye it instead of making 5 different coloured versions to take up more inventory space.
It's like they're taunting all the people that want blue mage :p
I do agree on the stupidity of gender exclusivity. Why can't a girl wear that vest with a bra underneath? Girls can like poofy pants too! And the flames mage skirt is pretty popular with guys! Why not give guys more options like that? That top is still awesome on the Lalafell female so it'd be just as awesome on big flat-chested males! Like Zomi said, you can alter aspects between the sexes to make it work better, but why make it only one or the other? What about the tomboy girls that don't want to dress girly? My highlander hyur female has no interest in the female exclusive glamour she wants the male exclusive ones!
Ya exactly what I was thinking, are they teasing BLU for a reason? I will drop everything I'm doing for either BLU or RDM hands down. I will turn into a hideous grinding machine mark my words. :)
I like these outfits, and all - but I think this was the wrong expansion to introduce them? Heck, even the posted blog entry mentions how weather-inappropriate they are...
These look like excellent glamours to add with a tropical or desert-themed expansion. Oh, well.
Still, might be nice to see some heavy coats and other wintery gear added. Even if they don't show as much skin, such equipment can still look pretty awesome!
I'm probably going to get shouted at (not literally) for saying this, but I'm not sure if the vast majority of the player base is really comfortable with something like this:

I just hope I can send it to my alt, so I can use the female set on my sexy Roe u_u
The Au Ra is standing awkwardly lol.
1) Monk AF is monk exclusive, the character is a tank. Currently settling for Oasis Sarouel but those new pants are epically poofy! Even poofier than monk AF.
And 2) there is NOTHING that allows a girl to have an open vest with a bra underneath... A jacket yes (kirimu coat, bard only) and a couple poofy shirts maybe... But not just a vest. Why is this a bad thing to want? The general consensus on girls getting previously planned to be male exclusive gear is "it looks good on them" well let us look good!
Can they clarify if it'll cost an arm, a leg and ur 1st born child? Cuz this much hype for 1 glamour set but with no info on how to obtain it makes u wonder if it'll be easy to get.
Plzzzzzz seasonal event, don't want to grind more mgp/ dump millions of gil lol.
It'll be crafted gear. The ingredients will all be exclusive, and therefore must be personally obtained by the crafter. One exclusive ingredient will come from desynthing a four-star fish, so the crafter will need to be a master-level Fisher and 110 CUL Desynther. Two of the other exclusive ingredients will be drops from the final two stages of Alexander (Savage), so the crafter will also need to be a top-end raider. The remaining ingredients, while still exclusive, will thankfully only require Tomestones - the higher level tomestones, of course, meaning the crafter will need to forego buying equipment in order to pay for them. They'll need to master Alexander (Savage) while wearing their old ilvl 130 gear.
You can expect roughly one or two pieces (not sets, pieces) to begin showing up on the marketboards per month once Alexander (Savage) becomes available. Please look forward to it!
Ok, how about this?

Picaroon's Jackets, exist for DRG, MNK and NIN (in different colors)
SE have already changed enough "male only" gear into "all gender" gear. Let this time the males their exclusive gear.
That's actually nice, but that character of mine is purely a tank. So she could wear a bikini but she can't wear a small open vest with a bra? Their reasons for class restricted glamours get flimsier with every glamour set... And gender restricted is a shame for tomboys and drag queens!
And as for asking for girls to wear the guys clothes... I'm asking for both! Not my fault they only are willing to go guys to girls and not vice versa! They need to stop it!

BLU confirmed :D :D :D hahaha
This is such an absurd criticism. I understand where people are coming from, but I really hate the angle most people use.
Are we just going to selectively forget that genders don't have different styles in culture? One is "MALE" and the other is "FEMALE" because they took the culture it's inspired from designates them as such.Of course they could both wear eachother's clothing, but then it would have to be designed to be gender neutral. Allowing females to wear male clothing could be described as "GENDER EQUAL", but i assure you, it's about 90% more likely for females to desire the male variants than for it to be the other way around. And FFXIV already does this. It's because it's rare in culture for a bunny suit or frilly skirt to be associated with masculinity. That's pretty much snuggly reserved for comedy or drag.
So i could care less if the male/female variants are gender exclusive or not. The vast majority of gear in this game is gender NEUTRAL. And if you want them to support drag, then maybe you should ask, but saying it's insulting is completely unfair. They have no obligation to make outfits conform to what you think is fair, especially when so few people would benefit.
I can see asking for gender neutral, i can even see asking for cross-dressing, but if you're offended by their being such thing as a "Male" or "Female" outfit, that's just you feeling entitled.
I wouldn't mind if it was gender neutral like the Patrician set and look a bit different for males and females and look slightly different in style! The point is that they are denying some things that make no sense to deny... Like thos crisscrossed leg straps! If that's part of the "skirt" couldn't guys get an equivalent? Even without the skirt? Give them shorts instead! The main complaint is they're just going "this for guys" and "this for girls" and not even trying to arrange for something that brings the gender neutral elements of the style to both males and females.
Hey, you could give that vest to girls too, bra or no! It'd still cover what it needs to for a T-rating!!
In general, clothing can be described as decorative, or as functional. For example, a doctor's scrubs can be considered functional; it is purposefully designed to aid a doctor in performing their duties, and whether it's a man wearing them or a woman, neither is considered to be cross-dressing. Military fatigues are another such example.
A tuxedo can be considered decorative; its purpose is to show off one's wealth and taste, and it is meant to be worn by a man. When a woman wears such a garment, they are considered to be cross-dressing. Ditto goes for a formal dress; when a man wears one, they are considered to be crossdressing. Almost all decorative clothing is expressly designed with showcasing the gender of the wearer in mind, along with any other functions.
For the most part, SE has been very good about ensuring that functional gear is very similar between the sexes. When equipment is meant to be the uniform for a specific class or type of class, it tends to be very similar between genders, with only minor modifications due to the fact that men's and women's bodies DO differ slightly in shape.
SE has also included decorative costumes for players to enjoy, and it doesn't bother me that these costumes DO vary greatly between genders. As I noted, decorative costumes are intended in part to showcase gender. If SE had left it at that, with female costumes for females, and male costumes for males, there probably wouldn't have been as much of a fuss. Unfortunately, SE didn't stop there, and went on to make a large proportion of their male-gendered outfits available to females. By not doing the same in making female-gendered outfits available to males, suddenly females had a much wider variety of costumes to choose from - even male characters who had no desire to crossdress could see that such a thing is patently unfair!
For the most part, I, personally, am perfectly content with the idea that decorative costuming choices are restricted by gender. I do agree, though, that it is irksome to see this kind of blatant imbalance with one gender being allowed a host of crossdressing options, and the other being allowed none.
They better not pull a
Treasure map materials thing on us lol, unless they give us new types of treasure maps as the loot drop table for current chests r becoming huge.
well i hope this sets go in the summer event, or meaby in gold saucer, i dont like to see this sets in markets for 1kk for piece.
Better not be in the gold saucer. The prices of the vanity items from the saucer (bunny/gambler) are ridiculous, and you know this would be even more.
This is essentially my dream come true. (Can't wait to go back to miqo'te too)
I welcome this set with open arms and I do hope there will be a certain prestige needed to acquire it! The more the better! Gotta work hard to be beautiful! Harharhar!!
From the moment I saw these I knew that alot of players, myself included would want them for glamour. From the pictures it looks as though all the races look good wearing them, especially so the female Elezen and Au Ra. Definately looking forward to all the new equipment sets that will be coming up and the potential for everyone to express their character's style in Heavensward and beyond.
On the suject of obtaining these sets: The wording of the blog entry implies that these new glamour sets will be obtained from the summer event, or at least will be obtainable by some method come patch 3.0 (or shortly after).
The JP post was apparently updated to say that female characters would be able to wear both, while male characters only get to wear the one. Figures...

Okay, now we NEED to know what the dude set looks like on girls. Because that's seriously awesome and I'll wear it all the time.
I am stoked right now. Super happy about the male set being unisex! :D
Again...
While that's great for those of us who play female characters, yet again the guys are getting shortchanged.
SE, equality needs to go both ways.
