I think he could be forgiven for not looking back nearly a year to find that thread. Besides, necroposting is probably against the forum ToS.
Anyway, here's my UI: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psbwuu41mk.png
1920x1080 resolution on a 23" monitor.
Old screenshot from another thread.

I prefer to keep critical information such as HP, MP, buffs, and debuffs centralized. It lets me keep my attention where it's needed (on the battle) without having to dart my eyes to different areas on the screen just to check my status.
Not the best but the only screenie i could find atm;
I like my HUD clean. Slightly different atm, but same concept, fixed some positions/sizes (You can see the one with the stances is a lot more distanced than the one with LB/Sprint/Mount)

I like it cause it cleans up the screen and puts all the pertinent info in one place.
My HUD would make you cry.
I play on laptop with controller... And I need lots of things on my screen, so I guess it's a little bit messy :p

No pics but i built keyboards on 3-6 and 7-10, can hide them and still use the contents.
I removed my mini map and quest log, that really opened things up!
depends on job. white mages/scholars generally put their party list closer to center of the screen so that your eye would move less finding out who needs to heal. tank and their enmity list/focustarget; dps and their boss status/hp

This is how my HUD is at the moment.
PS: The pantsu is unintentional and happen to be in the way with what I wanted to do. >.>
I wish I could make it so that only one quest was shown in the log, the quest list is too messy...
I have sheathed X-bar active and expanded.

As i main a healer my Party list is close to my bar, i then put the target and focus target above my bar in eye line just so i can see if as im casting and dodge on screen, Mainly i make most of the important information close to the center and close to where my eye mainly will focus during raids.
Edit: Spoilers not working?

Showing 5 on the map is great (though it wouldn't let me flag more than that) but I could use an option where it only shows the current quest - even though I've only got one set as priority, it still shows 4 extra ones and it bugs me so much as they're secondary class quests that I'm unlikely to even continue until I've hit lvl60 in HW!!
Quickie out-of-combat pictures from the other day to show my focus target's castbar:

Not too crazy special or anything, as I didn't modify it until long into 50 and it was too late to change it extensively (I can't adjust to it and just get annoyed)
Above the chat is hunt macros, the hotbar above the exp bar is my mouse keybinds, to the right is menus I use too often to hit esc or open skills every time I want them, and the top two things on the x/triangle/a/b/c bar are blacklist and busy macros.
It bugs the crap out of me having bars anywhere near the center of the screen, so even though I'm a healer, the party list is way over there on the side.
OP - What job do you play?
Could help too for people to give examples of their skill layouts.
I kinda wish there were more hotbars available. It would be nice. Or perhaps many more types of hotbars. Instead of just the horizontal and vertical. Have hotbar types that are square, or rectangle shape. Like hotbars that consist of 2 columns and 2 rows, or 4x2 2x4. I kinda wish there was a way to have my entire screen a giant grid, so i can put anything anywhere, and any shape I want. I get by right now with the ability to hide unused slots.
Definitely. SE told us before ARR launched that an addon API would be made available.
Since then it's been crickets. Nothing but crickets.
This is the kind of thing that an addon API could help us do. Individual people are going to have individual preferences for how their UI looks and functions. I'd much rather an API be made available to users than have SE waste dev time implementing every little UI adjustment everyone wants.
How can I upload my screenshot?
I had to redo everything yesterday after forgetting to back it up. I managed to go down from 10 to 9 hotbars.
This will probably go back up to 10 (if not more) come Heavensward.

Taken on SCH so you can see the pet hotbar placement.

Lets me keep track of bloodletter procs (since there's no visual cue) and GCDs.
Here's mine. I try to keep everything important in an easy to view area. Not super happy about the target bar having to be so goddamn long though.

My attempts at keeping things tidy while having a lot of info at my fingertips.
Here's mine. I like having all of my gear sets for each class/job available along with my Chocobo controls so they're on the vertical hotbars. The macros under the chat are all hunt macros, the two at the top of the vertical bar are S-Rank hunt macros (since I don't want to hit those for A-Ranks. >.>) Bar 4 is empty on my SMN but it has marking stuff on my tanks and healers which is why it's there.

I'll also have my minimap up from time to time to show the zone, though usually I keep it pretty transparent.

I look at some of these HUDs and question how do some even function with their set up lol.
From the HUD Layout, right click on PC or I think square/X on pad.
here's how i have mine.
thought i have been wondering about tidying a couple things up more.

Don't mind the keybinds with letters. Got Naga here so I use a lot of buttons.
