Issue is the forums are just to give SE info on the game it's not about getting offtopic on stuff. If people want to RP forums i would say make one or go too the fan site. Not being rude i would love to have offtopic Forums but that just what the forums here are all about :(
Don't most other official websites to other mmos have a forum and one of them is usually a Role-play thread?
I think as far as making stories go, that's what the lodestone blogs are for.
A roleplay forum would get more people enjoying something out of the game and therefore would be profitable to SE to implement.
Put another way, if you can get even 50 people to keep playing FFXIV (when we start paying) as a result of an RP forum, you pay for the costs of maintaining said forum. Thus its the rational thing to do.
just sayin.
Yes but there not in Beta stage they still fixing and asking players for info on the game. Maybe when the game goes p2p and PS3 release you would see offtopic forums.
I think one of the reason they give was they did not want to have so many GM working on the offtopic forums making sure they following the rules atm when they only trying to focus on the game. They want everyone on the forums to stay on topic about info about game that was the main goal of Forums at least what isee for now.
Don't see much harm in a roleplay 'thread' though that everyone could join in on. SE may even consider using ideas in it for future events, plus it'd give them an idea on the kinds of plot-lines the more story-involved players prefer, so when making new quests with cut-scenes and suchlike they can adjust it to a more generalised player-base. At the moment they seem to be resorting to "if we can't think of anything better, we'll use Lalafell". :P
I can't help but state that this is wrong...
Unless if you're telling me the world and class forums are for feedback for SE, which means that everyone who posts on them must be using them wrong
Class forums are for discussing said class with other people who play as that class.
World forums are for discussing things that relate to that world like linkshells advertising, player run event wide events etc and generally anything else socially related to that world.
It wouldn't be unrealistic for a Role-Play forum to be implemented, and imo it would be a good idea.
Oh, and to quote the sticky on the Trabia board
That board has nothing to do with feedback.Quote:
The purpose of this forum is for players from the Trabia World to hold discussions with fellow players from Trabia.
NO.
(You people and your fantasies... A game where you create an alter ego and thrust into a fake world isn't good enough is it?)
I would love an RP forum.
For 1 not everyone on Besaid RPs, and 2 I didn't know that Besaid was an RP server when I chose it.
(Like, can we think with a little "LOGIC" here and not assume because people that are on a certain server MUST mean they're there to RP or whatever you people do?)
Servers have specific playstyles? :O
I just clicked on a populated one and did whatever.
It was kinda all over the various fansites when the game came out (Well, technically before as this started in beta) that Besaid would be the unofficial RP server. Heck, I personally asked the community team for a designator as such... forget if it was still in open beta at the time or if this was early release though.
Nobody is stopping you from posting in character in this forum.
*twitches ears and scratches tail*
Meow, he has a point... meow
Seriously does anyone know how miqo'te actually speak?
I want to join! So, I am a train of Lalafell Conjurors and Archers, with names such as Aasd lkja and Llakldfjkl Adlkdfg. I am en route to the market ward. It takes me quite some time to zone in all of my Lalafell companions. We attempt to place our ill begotten wares on our retainers for selling - but then the strain of having that many Qwerty Lalas causes the market wards to crash. True story!
But is it really?
It is indeed, how is yours?
I think this would be a great idea.
Sent from my Linkpearl.
Some people seem to get the idea that an mmorpg (which in case flamers didn't know stands for Massive Multiplayer Online ROLEPLAYING Game) is about trying to be the best, and not about enjoying a story with other people.
+1 to roleplaying forum, much fun to be had, but for some reason I have this thought that there'll be a lot of Lalafell in it XD
What is it with you and Lalafells, Does your character have an identity crisis? :)
I'm pretty sure this has been said already, but
"Lodestone Blogs"
and / or
"fansites".
Heck, there's even fanfiction.net.
...i miss posting on fanfiction.net.
No, I just see them everywhere! Gysahl server is infested with the little blighters! XD
What's wrong with telling a story about my character? Liek why he is in Eozarea or something?
Roleplaying is a fine and fun thing to do anyways, not only are you enjoying a story the same as you do from watching movies, reading books and playing other games, but you're integrating yourself into that story and interacting with it, changing it's outcome to what you would like/prefer to happen, essentially becoming your own favorite author.
That's roleplaying justified... bring on the forum! :D
I've RP'd my hole life. Watching Pokemon? I'd put on my Ash hat. Playing Zelda? I'd get out my Master Sword. Role playing makes everything seem more fun.
Make a blog i would say.. But i do agree these forums should be about the game for info only :-)
It sounds nice, and I would love reading them (huge role-play fan :3), but I think this is the wrong place for it. The XIV forums are for feedback about the game, not off-topic things.
There are some role-playing websites already though, like this one:
http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/
I'm not wrong that what what one of the dev said about making offtopic forums the world i can understand it to give people to talk and give out info on stuff and the class it's to give feedback on such class.
I really hope SE make more offtopic forums but it seem like they don't want to make GM work on it more. Maybe we get a dev on monday telling us info on this.
I'd rather like such a forum, too.
That said, what about a 'Lore' forum? It would be the logical place for roleplay-related threads, but also have the "more legitimate" use of discussing thematic issues, such as story and world elements.
That is something this forum is sorely lacking, even setting aside arguments about whether or not roleplay is relevant to the forums of a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.
I will approve of your request, Jin-kun.
But only if Azury wears his fursuit for me. ^_^
And this is why we can't have nice things.
Because there's always a small group of narrow-minded elitists lurking around that will insult and put-down anything that doesn't involve quickly grinding to end-game content asap, which in turn causes the roleplayers to hide away and roleplay in small secret groups, which in turn makes the game developers think that people in the game don't bother roleplaying so they don't impliment any new content for it?
If all the roleplayers rose up against the elitists, their numbers would easily outnumber the elitists 10-1... but that'll never happen.
... still want roleplay forum...
