Level syncing formulas?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was some formula (or even better, some online calculator) that tells me what stats would be on gear that is level synced?

Since I bought the PvP set I wanted for glamour already (now I just need to grind the rank), I was wondering if there was perhaps some way to increase my performance/stats in frontlines. I was thinking of purchasing the i90 gear for lancer and then using materia slots to max vitality. I think some tankiness, even at the expense of some damage, would help me a lot (I'm at 4250 HP right now which is barely enough to survive a melee LB in Slaughter). Before I go spending wolf marks on an old set that isn't even that great looking and spending money on Materia, I wanted to see if I could tell what the stats would be compared to my current set, to see exactly how much damage I'm losing and HP I'm gaining. Any tips on how to do that?

The part of your question I can go ahead and answer with 100% certainty is that adding materia to the PVP gear will not make any difference in Frontlines, so I wouldn't bother. Its just in one or two specific Wolf's Den modes that the materia slots are meant to work.

Pretty much the only good way to modify your stats is through accessories. For adding Vitality, the ones that have Vit/Det/Crit on them are best by far since all three of those stats help you... and accuracy, skill speed and parry are wasted pretty much but luckily there are quite a few PVP accessories that have these three stats that don't require you to be high rank. I'd recommend saving out a seperate PVP loadout that has Vit/Str/Crit/Det on as many pieces as possible... if there are any slots where all you have available is gear with Skill Speed and Accuracy as secondaries, see what you can pick up in CT/ST/WoD that has Crit and Det instead, even if the ilvl is lower than what it is for PVE use. I think I bought one i90 pair of caster pants and that's pretty much it, there's really no need to replace anything with the i90 PVP set if it already has the ideal stats and they are >= i80. The item level of different pieces of gear in my FL loadouts range from i80 to i130 because there's such a wide array of gear that already had the right stats within that range so you should be able to find what you need without purchasing the i90 stuff.

Materia is worthless in i80 sync but works in lvl 30, lvl 40 and lvl 50 uncapped

Ok - so pretty much any piece that has Vitality on it will be synced down to whatever the VIT cap is at level 80? So if I have every piece of gear with some VIT on it at or above level 80, then there's nothing I can do to get more HP?

In terms of your left hand side gear that is correct, your VIT is maxed out if you have anything i80 or above.

For your right hand side, you have a choice of going STR accessories, or VIT accessories. You probably want to go full STR accessories most of the time so that you can burst people down faster as a dragoon. There are situations where it might be useful to use some or full VIT accessories though. If you're doing slaughter and have the 4 or 8 kill buff, you're going to be a huge target as when people kill you they get a ton of bonus points. You are also doing 20-40% extra damage, so at that point it may make sense to swap into some VIT accessories (you can do it during the match as long as you're out of combat).

In my experience, usually melee/bards work best with no VIT accessories, BLM/SMN benefit from having 2-3 pieces, and healers work best always using full VIT accessories. Obviously this is completely subjective and depends on your playstyle and experience so feel free to test it out.

There ARE two things you can do that don't have anything to do with accessories or left side pieces to get more HP.

1) Buy a Keeper's Hymn (250 GC seals) and reallocate some of your bonus points into VIT

and/or

2) Use PvP Action Points on the "Enhanced Vitality" I/II/III trait from the PvP Profile

You can also eat some food to increase your VIT temporarily. (nothing too expensive, as I believe you are unable to take full advantage of food beyond HQ 2* in i80 areas... but I do know of some people who use HQ Flint Caviar when they are really going at it) I usually use Buttons in a Blanket and sometimes Black Truffle Risotto when I can.

I forgot about food buffs! I have a 50 CUL so I'll definitely give those a whirl.

I'm thinking I'll use the VIT PVP traits as I get closer to rank 45 - for now I think it's definitely better to use those points in enhancing my PvP moves - I think 6 vitality equates to ~80-90 HP?

As for the character stat bonuses, I'm still doing too much PvE work to sacrifice my STR in that area.

Yeah I agree with both of the above. And I didn't even think of the Keeper's Hymn (because I remember when it was cost prohibitive to use) but you can use that to modify your VIt stats. The only reason I would do that would be if all my VIT accessories had stats that sucked for PVP like speed/accuracy/parry when compared to the accessories meant for your class. Like if a healer has a MIND/CRIT/DET bracelet and only only VIT bracelet is VIT/Skill Speed/Accuracy bracelet, they'd be better off getting the VIT from reallocating some Attribute bonus point. In my case I've managed to get my hands on VIT/CRIT/DET accessories for all slots so I just use them to adjust the balance between the main stat for my class vs HP.

I personally wouldn't recommend the VIT traits, vs upgrading your PVP skills. You don't get many VIT points at all from the PVP traits and upgrading the PVP skills is so much more worthwhile.

I'd definitely recommend against using a keepers hymn to trade for vitality as a DPS.

VIT accessories give 13 VIT
STR/DEX/INT accessories give 11 STR/DEX/INT

You get more bang for your buck swapping in vitality accessories than changing your main attribute points. You can get full det/crit/VIT accessories so you don't have to sacrifice secondary stats.

The only reason to use a keepers hymn is if you've already swapped all your accessories for VIT and require more. I do this on my healer, but I think it's definitely not worth it as a DPS outside of maybe a BLM (where a lot of your moves are crowd control and do next to 0 damage, so it's less of a loss).

For PvP skills, 3 points into VIT = 12 VIT = ~200 hp. Allocating here is a personal preference and depends on your job. If you have 3 points to spare, you could instead put these into STR and get 12 STR. As mentioned above the STR/VIT exchange rate of accessories is 11:13, so it's only worth putting these PvP points into STR if you've maxed out the accessories and need more HP, otherwise you're better off spending them in STR.

As Zeopower6 mentioned food is huge. Food = ~200 hp + secondary stats and it lasts for 40 mins if you have the FC buff. You don't have to trade anything for this hp boost, so it's definitely worth it.

Another way to increase your hp is make sure there's a tank in your group. They give a group +3% VIT buff, which is also roughly another ~200 hp.

For me, I went for the trait as a healer mostly because survival was a priority for me. I sacrificed an upgrade here or there in my PvP skills, but I've found only certain things need upgrades depending on the mode you are playing in. (Secure or Slaughter)

It will depend on how much HP you have when you're in there, I guess. You want to be able to at least survive one or two Cometeors or one melee LB (with a bit of protection).

This is all extremely useful stuff - once I get VIT on all of my accessories, and add some food into the mix, I'll increase my HP by at least 1k which is a huge boost that will have little to no affect on my damage. That's without getting the PvP VIT traits or moving my character bonus points. I can take a melee LB to the face and survive with ease and almost have enough to take two cometeors without a heal in between.

So I traded all of my accessories for VIT accessories and made a bunch of HQ buttons in a blanket for some maximum HP. I'm running at 5650 HP now with a tank in my party, opposed to 4450, and is in range to take two cometeors without dying. My damage is actually noticeably less - I took a 56 hit in STR but I gained 26 crit and 21 DET, and I don't remember how much skill speed I lost, but I can feel the difference in my pace of play that my GCD is longer. My food gives me 10 more crit and 16 DET, but even with +36 crit and +35 DET, I think my damage is still lower because of the -56 STR.

Either way, it's not much lower, and I believe it's definitely worth the +1200 HP (cause you know - the whole argument of damage that I get to do for not being dead).

Do potions work in PvP? I could make some X-potions of strength and pop em every 5 minutes for +69 STR and then I'll be rocking a solid punch with a wall of HP.

yes potions work, although i dont really see why you aren't using SOME str crit det accessories as a melee dps, you are pretty much cutting off your nose to spite your face if you use all vit accs

I'll keep trying it out to see how my overall performance is affected. Right now I only have a sample size of 5 games played with the new setup, but so far I feel like the change has been positive - my overall damage dealt per match seems about the same but I might not be securing kills as easily which could result in lost points - I think I definitely am dying less with such a huge increase in HP so at the very least that's points taken away from the other GC's. And recuperate restores HP based on % so that also is a big boon to my survivability. It definitely is a balancing act to fine tune survivability vs. damage - I can only go by anecdotal evidence until someone who has the time and skills to crunch the numbers. I have a looooong way to go before rank 45 so I'll have lots of time to swap stuff around and see what works best (again, anecdotally)
