Number amount of people on FF14 Dev team?

Does FF14 still have the same development team since 2.0 launched? Meaning the same numbers like if they had 20 people back then do they have 20 now. It seems when things get pushed back they say that they don't have enough people. If the game is really a big success they should really look into getting more development power so they can give the players what they want. For example add ons, more QOL changes during 3.xx patches.

I'm not being selfish, I'm just curious.

I was wondering also :) I remember at fanfest he said the team is very, very small.

There was a slide show presentation of it and stuff. He said one guy alone coded and made all the monsters in the open world. O.O

I doubt they have the same size dev team atm. Also the dev team is probably split up with a large group working on Heavensward, a smaller group working on content patches and maybe even a small group working on the next expansion allready.
Also the game is becoming more popular but it's not making that much money atm. Last info I read is that they have around 750k subs accross FF14 and the dragon quest one with probably largest part being FF14 subscriber

*Sighs* Not this myth again. FFXIV has far more subscribers than just '750k' - SE themselves until recently had a banner on the Lodestone stating the amount of current players that kept rising with each patch, ending at 2 million players. Although the site no longer states this, the very end of the 'Tour of Heavensward' trailer actually states there are '4 million adventurers' in the game, although whether that means actual subscribers or player characters is unclear.

Also the Wikipedia page for FFXIV cites several third parties that state FFXIV's current amount of subscribers is considerably higher than just '750k', like here and here

No, despite this doomsaying, the game is fine - yes it can be always improved, but it's not failing, losing money or in danger of being shut down despite what some people seem to think. I can't believe there are some players here who just like to talk the game down and want to see it crash and burn.

I just started playing in Jan. And i have to see I feel the game is growing popularity.... i think by this time this year the greatest mmos people will always mention will be WoW and FF14. It has already started.

FFXIV was the game that helped push Square-Enix in the positive profits the past couple years. They probably have a total team of somewhere 100-200 which is the average size for a mega-company like SE.

Also not to mention the subscription costs are $15, and anyone who entertains the cash shop and its funny prices are essentially buying multiple months of service at once and covering for would-be subscribers or quitters.

i think they're doing fine. The in-game content is doing good, the cash-shop exists on its own and isn't invasive. Seriously, if FFXIV isn't "doing good", then P2P is doomed for the remainder of existence. By all indication they're probably doing better than "great" and the expansion shouldn't do anything to slow that down.

After the massive trainwreck that was FFXIII and its trilogy of ass, FFXIV is pretty much the only big thing to come out of Square Enix recently that players, reviewers, and stockholders alike cannot find anything to complain about. And I honestly cannot remember the last time that happened to Square Enix. Probably FF7. Seriously.

I never said all of them are developers. But there are sections where they clearly identify the developers and which part of the game they work on.

I don't know if they have fewer programmers or something like that, than other developers, but they have a pretty sizable team otherwise...

I went through the credits for 2.55 story, and under the main developer part, I counted to over 250 developers (lost count lol)

How that compares to 2.0 developer team I have no idea though...

Doesn't mean they can't hire more developers though. I didn't look through exactly what responsibilities all of them have, but just because they're many in total, doesn't mean they have many of the ones that really count towards putting out a lot of content in the game.

It needs confirmation but in a LL before the release of 2.0 I think they said they the team was 300 people.

I wonder if any of them are working on Dragon Quest and this at the same time. That would bother me.
