contineus dc from game w/o connection lost

Have any ever exp this ? for some reason I seem to be the only person that contineus disconnect from the game and my internet work fine, the status is:

S 44
R 0

I did a registry cleaning and it was fixed <.<

I used CCleaner, the problem remain

I'm constantly DCing too but my connection works fine.

So i am not the only one. I try to restart my roue 3 times, shutdown both of my laptop 2 times and the problem remain, and I is ofc not my connection as I listen radio from steam and the radio work fine so it has to be server problem

I have 2 chars on two different PCs. One get d/c and the other one not. Same connection. So I think it is server side.

I've known several people who are randomly getting these problems as well recently.

that support thread doesnt help at all, they had post it back in august and no GM neither DEV reply with a answer of "support", post here might cause some attention at least

I had the exact same problem (S:44-48, R:0) just after the last maintenance update, I couldn't play at night for a week (during the day, everything was fine). The effects were worse soon after joining a party.

Seems to work fine again tho.

I am having that problem right now as well, logging in I will get R0 within 1-5 mins.

If you have an external HDD big enough for all the files copy the ffxiv folder from the square enix folder to an external HDD or USB pen then reinstall the game and copy the FFXIV folder back, it will avoid you needing to update.

The folder is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix on a 64 bit os and C:\Program Files\SquareEnix on a 32 bit os.

Or you could just cope with the update if you want, if there are any damaged files the update will fix em, but copying the files probably wont now I think about it.

doesnt make much sence that I have to reintall the hole clicent when it run fine for the last 3 weeks and only have problem today

edit: also do you know where I can get find the update file for FFXIV ? the patch is slow as it is by seed, so I wont be happy to seed the 7 patch again

I went through this a few months back, ended up without being able to play for 4 days, constant R0 within the first minute when I logged in.

I did everything I could, resetting connections, router, wiping character data from the FFXIV documents folder, reinstalling the game, nothing worked, eventually it worked itself out.
During this time I had no problem with anything else, TV, radio, browsing and other online games worked just fine.

Most of my DC's are while I'm in a party as well.
Dunno why but my connection is perfectly fine when playing other games, and then as soon as I play this I get constant DCs. (Apart from early in the day when my connection is usually fine)
I can even play online shooters lag free and then I get to this I DC all the time unless if I get on early.
I even played Ragnarok Online again for about a week and didn't DC at all during that time while playing it...

Though all that said I know some of my DCs are down to my ISP, I still get random DCs when my connection is fine.

I was dealing with a similar problem for a month earlier this year. I would disconnect almost instantly when connecting to any online game. Ventrilo would also work fine until I attempted to talk(ping would go from ~30 to 30000+ and DC). TV was fine, as was browsing the 'net and anything else that did not require upload.

After a bit of testing on my end I was able to track the issue down to my ISP. Somewhere out on their network there was a bad hop that was causing serious packet loss and pretty horrible latency. Running a speed test to Japan would report full downstream and <0.1 Mbps upload on a 35/35 fiber connection.

In the end there was a bad card in one of their local distribution boxes. Once they swapped that card I was back in business. To convince them it was something on their end and not my machines took 10+ support calls, 6 technician visits, 2 ONT replacements, and 3 routers.


FFXIV appears to be heavily reliant on your upload bandwidth. If you are on a pooled connection(cable) or on a connection with a low maximum upload(ADSL) try the following to test and see if the frequency of linkdeaths decreases:

-Connect during off-peak hours. (10AM-2PM and 12AM-4AM)
-Close any upload heavy programs (BitTorrent, P2P filesharing) before connecting.
---You may need to reboot to clear out existing TCPIP Half Open connections from the above programs.
-Try running a speedtest to Japan via speedtest.net and check the upload bandwidth reported
-Run a "tracert www.google.com" from a command prompt (start>run>"cmd" or windows key+r>"cmd")
---check for dropped packets(denoted by *s) and large spikes in latency early in the trace.

If you call your ISP and explain the problem it should be pretty easy to get them to run an in-depth line test to check for issues out on their network. On the other hand, getting them to admit to problems on their end is a much more complicated endeavor.

DC'd twice since I posted lol it was fine when I was solo, not so good when I started partying :X

i had been hours and I still got the contineus DC, send a email suport dont solve a crap

run speed test from where I live to tokyo is:

ping 292ms
download speed 2,24mbps
upload speed have trouble with that it standing at connecting and nothing happen and ofc there are no technical that work around this hours and tomorrow is saturday and sunday, great

The ping is pretty reasonable to Tokyo, Especially if you live somewhere in the vicinity of the Americas. Download speed as well (Dependent on connection type). The upload getting stuck at the connecting phase is right in line with what I was experiencing. It would either connect after a long delay and start transferring then slowly drop in speed and die, or just fail to connect all together and just sit there trying.

If you have the same speed test upload issue testing to servers in your local country/area you may be looking at an external network issue like I was.

Well there isn't only two things as you believe. It's not : either what you call "your connection", either the servers.

First of all, the radio you listen to is most likely not based in Japan, while SE servers are.

Your ISP could have an issue on a part of its network between where you live and Japan. It could also be an issue affecting only specific internet ports, thus affecting only certain applications and not all of them.

99% of the time, these issues are not SE's fault, otherwise a massive amount of players, from all regions, would be affected and that's not the case.

called to IPS and they say connect is fine. I tet last night, with wire I cant upload to the tokyo, but with wireless I can upload to tokyo, and my set up is moderm--->wireless router

ninja edit: test the serer connectiton with Nagoya and other, seem to work fine with both upload and download, just not tokyo

ninja edit 2: both wireless and cable are now reject, nothing different, still got r 0

Im having the exact same problem. im not able to play the game at all, but even so the chat works fine. according to the game my connection is like this. s 44ish and r 0. if anyone finds a solution to this id really like to hear it. I live in europe btw.

It has NOTHING to do with your local ISP. Users from North America, Europe, and Asia are all experiencing the same disconnections. Not to mention, this rash of disconnections started up with the implementation of 1.18.

Yeah i guess. Even so square should be working harder to fix these kinds of problems. This is way more important than airships imo.

Someone in my LS gets the same problem, and it then becomes our problem, because she's the healer XD

We had a toto-rak party going last week that almost fell apart 'cos one of the team kept dc'ing, and the other was always on the edge of dc'ing, both said it was from patch 1.18 that it started.

This is nothing that has been brought on by 1.18 as it has gone on before that was implemented.

so any got this problem being able to log into game yet ? or the best bet is the next maintain ? (I notice there is no maintain this week when the event start)

I just logged in, and no, I got R0 shortly after.

When I had it a few months back (only time I've had it), it lasted 4 days, and cleared up without it being maintenance.
Had it at the same time as others, and we had it go away at the same time.

I've had several R0-issues this week, but I usually get it back up before I DC. Never had any problems with this before (and it only happens in FF14).

ok. i just tried playing and the problem is still there. seems my gaming weekend is ruined completely. thank you Square.

just for addction info, I am now sit here front of my 2 laptop, the one on wire and have the game instant cant upload to Tokyo, but the other one on wireless and doesnt have game instant can upload to Tokyo (this one doesnt have game because it is a mac). So today (11/9) i switch the wire one to wireless, nothing different

Me and my other half had this problem a few months back and it was a pain. Tried everything and phoned ISP and nothing showed their end and they said it was FFXIV. We tried with a diff character on same server etc and it worked fine so after a while we thought we would give this a go:

Temp fix for you maybe... try this

Change area and then log out.

Adjust something in the FFXIV config file and save. (can change it back and save again)

Log back in.

The problem just seemed to disappear after a few days and think it was server/corrupt character data not sure. But trying this is worth a shot good luck ^^

Ok I tried this. Didnt change anything for me. Circle still turned red. Thanks for the suggestion though. Hope square does something about this soon.

might be the same problem as your but I try with different character and have the same problem as the current

Sounds like a different problem than what we had then, as i made a new character and the new one was fine, sorry not much help. I do know other people who have had similar issues though and it just seemed to go away.

I d like to have a wrods from the GM/DEV about this problem, post here, post in support, send mail and all I got is silence

Yup, nothing we do on our end can fix this.
Sadly, all we can do is wait until we are able to play again.
