Fix Balmung's Housing Problem

There is a serious problem with housing on Balmung. There are multiple "dead" plots where people who have unsubscribed have a house they don't use. People are selling their small plots for almost 6 times what they are worth. It's not fair to the free companies who want to expand and obtain housing who have the gil for normal plots but don't have the 6 to 8 times the amount of gil normally needed to buy a plot from a player and then buy the house itself. It's ridiculous.

Every player across all servers should have the same ability to obtain housing--we all pay the same fee to play. If that means adding more housing for the bigger servers (and Balmung is the only one I've heard of that has this issue), then the bigger/more crowded servers should have more housing. It's not favoritism for one or a few servers. It's making the field even across all servers. There are more people on these legacy servers so there should be more housing to accommodate.

It makes FC recruitment more difficult and makes us have to spend 6 times more gil for a plot. We shouldn't have to spend 35 million gil just to get someone to move out of their plot plus buy the plot from the game. Fix the housing system, SE. It's really unfair.

To be fair, it isn't really SE's fault that Balmung is as crazily overcrowded as it is.

It's a legacy server. It has players old and new on it.

balmung is not the only server have housing issue, so stop screaming for it

ps: this issue is know by the dev and they already say they will not use the resource on it, so what is the point to make this thread ?

No it won't, but if someone is unhappy with this Situation it is better to say it instead of swallowing the we don't care Response from the dev Team.
Even if they say they will not do anything about it if people shut up after a while there will be no need for the devs to further think about this issue but as long as the topic comes up over and over again it will be clear that people are still unhappy.

Oh no! Someone made a thread in the housing forum that they literally cannot buy a house! Time for me to complain about people being upset rather than go "yeah that does blow, you're right!"

Our best and only hope is that once Heavensward hits we'll get more housing. I'm thinking that the issue is related to however they store their data, the idea that they can't make infinite neighborhoods is downright silly because it's been done before in multiple different ways. They can't keep adding things to housing without fixing the inability for people to get houses once the 1440 plots are all used up.

It is an issue that needs to be addressed. If the devs think it's not a problem, they wont do anything about it.

My main irritation is this: We pay more for houses because they go through and check how much money is supposedly on the server and then inflate the price accordingly. (Thank you gilbots for making housing more expensive for us.) If they're going to scale the price of housing on Balmung based on money in circulation, then they ought to scale housing availability based on numbers on the server as well. More money = more cost / More people = more wards

Incidentally, has anyone else got irritated by the lack of logic on those higher house prices? We get told legacy servers are going to cost more for housing. People scramble to raise money. Oh lols! Look at that everyone has lots of money stored to buy housing, let's base their costs on that!! It's a pretty gross cycle there. We know it's going to be bad so we save up so it costs more because we saved. Butts man. Absolute butts.

Your post just proves that there is clearly a problem with housing. If SMALL plots are being sold for 35-40 million..... That is medium house pricing. Hell 35 million should get you a large plot imo. It should not be based on supply and demand. It should be a set price and PLENTY of plots available for everyone.

I think i have seen people asking for small plots 32 mill to send them tells. They did want a specific plot but it was up. So people are willing to pay 30+ for land. Maybe they need to close the wards on the other servers and give them to Balmung. Just kidding, maybe :)

While I will not get into a pissing content over prices, it is simple business economics. There are absolutely 0 plots on the entire server available. Supply and demand creates inflation. I know for a fact there are people on balmung buying multiple plots on the server just to flip them. While yeah it is crappy if people want a house that badly they aren't going to end up getting someone to relinquish their land for what they paid for it.

You are correct and I agree. Housing such as in Ultima Online worked this way. It had a good economy and I was a my server's top real estate agent for the server. I wouldn't just buy plots to to flip, I would find buyers for places and find sellers for homes that matched what the buyer was looking for. It was a good business. This is how housing works IRL so I see no reason why it should not work like this in video games. I will state however that house plots big and small are needed to be added.

Balmung isn't the only world with housing issues. Every single plot in Leviathan is filled, and newer players are unable to buy housing because of it. As soon as a small plot is released, it's snatched up within the hour. I've got the gil for a small plot. I just need another ward to open up for me to buy one. :/

All of Hyperion housing is filled too. My FC wants a house and we have the funds to do so, but without land to buy we're dead in the water :/ More housing needs to be made and soon, especially since some 3.0 FC content seems reliant on us actually having a house..

Personally I don't see why anyone would pay that much when you know eventually they are going to add more. Not like this is all we get.
But more power to you if someone pays that much for it, which I'm sure someone will cause as you stated your server is obviously in need of more wards, as is other populated servers.

Oddly enough there is still a few plots available on Sargatanas. No small houses, but a few mediums and maybe a large or two.

fixing the housing problem is no simple fix while most things SE suck at in my books this one can't be easy they complain about to much server space being used by housing but they can't just say if you have not logged for a month you lose your house ppl will go bat shit crazy considering the prices..balmung is hardly the only server that has no housing hell tonberrys smalls sold out in i shit you not 30 minutes last drop brynhildr none behemoth theres none so many servers now are all sold up.. they will have to add more plots.. iam truly surprised ( from the info I've heard ) that they are not doing a ishgard district in 3.0 … they could still add more wards in 3.0 but it seems more likely we will have to wait for patches to follow for that!!

Yeah, this is exactly the issue with fixed plots. Eventually, no matter how big or small your sever is, they're gonna run out. It's a matter of time. They simply have to add more plots as they're needed, because otherwise people are gonna be locked out of housing and it'll stop being a system that actually matters; being instead something only the oldest players and the ones willing to indulge pretend-magnates get to experience.

And now you see my point.
This is NOT a real world economy. We all pay the same amount for the game. We should all be entitled to the same housing prices.
The new content for FC is pretty much dependent on housing and it's super unfair for FCs who can afford housing but can't because of people who are stupid.
Also, there is the issue of a ton of houses that belong to dead FCs or unsubscribed players just sitting there....

SE is a big company, they can afford to add some more servers just for housing if that is the problem. It is quite simple actually. More of the community just needs to be outspoken to increase the demand to force their hand and quit being cheap and do what needs to be done.

sadly your kinda wrong they may be a big company but on numerous occasions I've heard yoshi say its not as simple as just making more wards it takes up server space ..bullshit or not i don't know like the 2 extra retainers if these things take up server space and they charge extra for it whats next cash shop housing!!!
