Your Classes and what you do.

This isn't a "Yur nt doin it rite" thing, its a genuine question, How do you use your preferred class and for what purpose?

Personally, Pugilist - High Eva for solo Grinding/Farming/Backup Tank - With a few CON/MRD defensive skills for extra "Kick"

Next?

ARC with
THM sacrifice,
MRD bloodbath,
LNC invigorate,ferocity

THM. My LS uses me as a "flexi-mage". I'm pretty much a Jack-of-all-Trades and can fulfill many roles depending on the situation. It's particularly useful for Darkhold.

Im an alchemist

i craft stuff

When I play solo THM (Rank 30). if I engorge my Miqo'te with buffs I can take down a level 40 enemy, But i have to use the hit and run tactic. When I'm in a party I'm usually the buffer and caster. When i play as ARCH I'm the one that dies all the time. =)

I'm a CON and I wear plate and use a shield so I can tank cuz that's what the armory system was designed for, amirite?

I'm a LNC and carry a large weapon to compensate for something... I mean... aww crap.

On a serious note. I consider my lancer support and damage.

i dont really get the point of this, miners mine, DD DD's tanks tank blah balh blah. are you waiting for a glad to say that they mainly heal.

I use GLA to solo farm and tank in parties.
I play CON to when we need another mage for dungeons/NMs and already have a tank.

I started with ARC and i leveled CON and THM to 20 so that i could use Sacrifice II, Cure II, Protect, Shell, Stoneskin and Shock Spikes along with my ARC skills.

However, when the Jobs are implemented, i'm thinking about switching to CON as my new "main" class. I want to be the healer of the party (^_^ )

I'm the Dot guy on THM. I usually heal on CON but i hate healing...

to see what people prefer, GLA/PUG both Tank and DD if someone cant do both then thats their deal.

Conjurer for healing, but I do most of my healing with Sacrifice. Cure and Curaga are reserved for emergencies.

I mainly do DD on my Pugilist, and off-tank if necessary.

A pug can't tank anywhere near as good as a glad and a glad can't DD as good as pug. I don't see the point of trying

Mead helps. And I prefer smaller company, usually 2-3 good people by my side.

Alchemist: Grind/craft for sp until i randomly fail 10 times in a role and logout.
Fisher: Useless class at the moment, don't play it anymore.

MRD. I prefer to have my slow swing have some power behind it and I wear some armor on the side to help not be torn in half.
ARC. Hai thar! I shoot yer face full-o-arrows lol

I'm a Pugilist and I do inferior damage to Archer and Lancer while at the same time being a worse tank than Gladiator and Marauder. Also my basic attacks cost MP. Seriously, wtf SE.

Every class has MP and most of the time we wont use it, unless your like me with spells, on the flipside it could've been 250 TP for every 10 mp we use

Try adding more Dex? or Dex+ stuff? works wonders.

Dex will only really help with evade and it's currently debatable how much it actually helps considering most stats don't work the way they should.

The point isn't that most people don't use MP, the point is that Pugilists NEED MP for some of their basic attacks and have no way of regenerating it on our own. If you run out of MP you lose two of your basic attacks for the rest of the fight.

well then. my main is glad a tank on that. im currently ranking thm, i usually jsut cast a bunch of spells but if if in a leve group 8/8 i cant get my spells off fast enough cause the mobs sucks so i just auto follow.

I only play lancer with a few subbed abilities, my focus as Lancer is party support + DD.

To Forge a legitimate old school dungeons and dragons style tank. A build that can absorb a lot of damage and dish it right back to the enemy.

the modern mmo trope of a tank being only able to absorb damage and do bugger all in the damage department really burns my biscuits.

I play a Tank; that doesn't just mean that I soak up damage, though. In reality you spend a lot of time managing the fight, knowing when to pop skills and when to hold off a bit and wait for the right moment to spike your hate. Knowing which mobs shed hate periodically and which blink out, so you can be right on top of getting hate back. Using Cover and other targeted skills to save the squishies in the back when the sh*t hits the fan. Keeping calm when your pt aggros another two mobs, grabbing their hate real quick with an AOE.

The tank also drives the speed of the entire party. If you're a tank who is on top of their game, you're pushing for a new mob as fast as possible when the old one is dead, or already running to the next section of the leve or quest. You can't be the last one to show up to the next mob, ever, or hate control goes out the window. It takes a combination of strategic smarts, active battle management, foresight, and teamwork to play an effective tank.

That's my class and that's what I do.

Yeah, a Tank that can't speed up the death of the target isn't much use IMHO.
After all the quicker a mob dies the faster XP rolls in!

Backup EVA Tank myself, better at it when it comes to NM's though... length of the fight determines how much of what I can do.
