There will be new tomes to use. Spend what you have.
Haven't read anything official regarding this, but I'm 99% sure there will be claymores/rifles/star globes obtainable through current tomestones. It would be odd to bother making level 70 weapons drop from Ifrit/Titan/Garuda Hard Mode, but not allow us to purchase ilvl l120 ones through tomestones.
(Also, they added the Air Knives to the list of weapons obtainable from the weekly Primal Quest when Ninja was released, although the item level was already kinda irrelevant, so...)
Well, the benchmark showed off the high allagan gun and primal weapons are confirmed so I don't think it is unlikely that they will add soldiery/poetics weapons. As to whether or not they will still be around, Idk to be honest. They usually change it up before the patches, but there are still going to be people within the 2.xx series and people that won't have Heavensward so I'm really not sure what they will end up doing with them since the new tomestone will probably be focused on lvl 60ish gear.
I doubt it since the level cap will be level 60 so there's no point in making old end game gear. 50-60 will have new quest weapons I suspect.
I'm saving up poetics and tomestone/twine for ironwork greatsword, so I'm really hoping they do include one. I don't see why they wouldn't. I also have a full set of antique gear, that is a little more questionable but I hope they have lvl 90 set for dark knight too.
The new jobs start at level 30 so they gonna need a whole bunch of weapons from 30-60.
If I recall they will convert the current Tomes into a new one for Heavensward, like they have done before with older tomes. Can't find the source I read it so don't take my word for it, but keep it in mind that it might happen.
It would make sense to make new weapons for the new jobs as the new jobs start at 30.
I should hope there's at least Ironworks Magitek weapons for DRK/AST/MCH, along with primal weapons.
I don't think anything will be added since DRK, along with the new jobs, can only be accessed in Heavensward meaning there will be content for them there already and little reason to make content for them in ARR. I just hope there's a Guts set as a nod to Berserk because how can you not put a reference to such an influential anime/manga.
The Ironworks Star Globe and the High Allagan Machinist Gun can be briefly seen in the scene with the large gathering of players in the benchmark trailer, at around 4:44 and 4:51 respectively.
Ironworks Globe:
High Allagan Gun:
It's pretty hard to see both, sorry for the screenshot quality. You can see it a little better in the trailer itself.
You can probably assume from this that Level 50 vertical progression weapons will be added, starting at High Allagan at most.
The max ilevel will remain the same and not be increased at HW launch. I predict there will be ironworks weapons for the new jobs as well as ironworks gear. Not sure about soldiery stuff since a new tombstone will be introduced. I will definately save some poetics for the the new jobs.
Since there are going to be two new tomestones, it is highly possible, that you will not be able to buy anything with old tomestones. And who knows what conversion rates will be...
Be ready to farm dungeons for current tome gear/weapons in 3.0
They may make new ironworks weapons (really can't make it out in that screenshot), though soldiery is a bit less certain since they'd require the same level (50) but one is definitely better than the other and by then both types of tomes will be old (Law will be the newest tome at launch, but will be unrestricted -- Esoterics will be capped but released 2 weeks later). The ilvl cap is most certainly increasing. I have no idea why you'd think i130 will be the best you can get at level 60 since that would make all new dungeon drops and crafted gear completely irrelevant before it's even introduced. Nevermind the fact that there will be tomes of Law from level 60 dungeons at release as well. Yoshi said that i130 will still be relevant while leveling up, but it will be outmoded by the time you hit 60, if not sooner.
I expect that the older tome weapons will be available for the new jobs.
Ilevel 140 gear will be a simple increase of stats similar to what has been done before (ie, +5 or so to main stats) so i130 will still be very good gear, used while grinding out your i140 stuff and leveling up to 60.
Level 60 will add stats to the character baseline. The increase in character level stats will, though, be much larger than the difference in gear with a +10 iLevel raise. At 60, the difference between i140 and i130 will be similar to what you have now between i130 and i120. If anything, it will seem smaller because it will be a smaller percentage increase (fixed amount).
Why would the devs want to give you an easy option to instantly outgear half the expansion on the new jobs? It's bad enough that our current i130 jobs will already outgear everything up to level 55.
The primal weapons and possibly coil weapons will likely be the only exceptions to this simply because they're not exactly easy to get and you would have to wait until the expansion hits before you can start farming for them anyway.
They likely won't remove Poetics as players that don't buy the expansion will still need to be provided for in acquiring gear up to i130.
The gear already exists in the first place, The new jobs are going to jump into existing poetics/Dwyrm gear, providing that there is only one set of tanking and healing gear still. Unlikely they will make everything Job Specific at this point.
People kicked and screamed that they didn't want their 130 gear to be obsolete and the devs listened lol. Now half the expansion is going to be super easy.
5 levels of the leveling process at the very beginning on an expansion is nothing more than a drop of water in an ocean in regards to the entirely of an expansion.
And unless you actively grind FCoB than all your classes are not going to be in full i130 gear, one of the reasons SE kept the poetic cap.
Well we know for sure that there will be Ironworks weapons for the new jobs. The DRK Ironworks greatsword is shown multiple times in the benchmark (unfortunately on a lalafell) But it's definitely there.
As for Gerolt/Soldiery weapons? Unsure. I would think they would still do so since they are doing primal and every other similar ilvl weapons (high allagan etc.)
As others have mentioned so far we only know they will not have a 2.0 relic.
Thanks Shippuu for that pic -- anyone have any of the Machinist or AST poetic weapon? I tried but couldn't find any shots in the benchmark (though I may just be terrible at looking)!
