Petition regarding the proposed character jump feature

I would like to voice my opinion to the developers regarding the idea to include a jumping feature for characters. I do not want to see this feature included in FFXIV. I was very glad there was no jumping feature in FFXI and I enjoyed the brilliant level design and environments.

There are many MMORPGs that include a jumping feature and I understand that some people enjoy using that feature to explore and have fun and find shortcuts and exotic locations. I have noticed that there is also an /unstuck feature in all of those games. Jumping around beautifully designed locations may cause the player to become stuck or lost inside the geometry of the area. This is BAD.

FFXI can generally be seen as a "more serious" game than other MMOs with the KO penalty, limited teleporting/flight, and extreme difficulty (CoP release). I would like to see lots of that serious attitude in FFXIV with the exclusion of a jumping feature. There is a certain solemnity and maturity when a party or LS gathers together to prepare for a NM fight or mission or Dynamis/Einherjar/etc. run. Jumping around and dancing would spoil that feeling.

Square-Enix and the FFXIV Dev Team: PLEASE do not add this jumping feature into our beloved FFXIV . . . we want to see it grow and develop and succeed, not succumb to the fads and gimmicks of other less mature MMORPGs!

I agree, while being able to jump up somewhere and explore a hidden area is interesting, the fact that you will watch people run by jumping all the while will get old really fast. Not to mention there are enough collision problems as is.

If they remove the idea of jumping because of this post, I will eat my AF1 nikes. :(

I just don't see the point of having jump in the game.

I checked out the ff11 board yesterday, i did not read the post but someone suggested underwater combat , any chance ff14 could have swimming as well as jumping, not the ocean though, but a set up area for it.

Even in FFXI people got stuck, falling thru the docks then have to ask a GM or a blm to warp them out >.>

Jumping around and dancing would spoil that feeling." Really? If you let that spoil your feeling, then anything seems like it could spoil it for you. Jumping should not be a problem, it adds to the atmosphere of the game, and adds more freedom. I'm in for adding a jump feature, along with swimming. Get them all!
