Heavy RNG-based loot system must be changed.

No matter how effort you grind for your desired loot. If you're not blessed with good RNG, you'll end up frustrated eventually. Imagine grinding T13 with "pug" parties who clear 2/7 then the loot you wanted isn't showing up.

I suggest there must be a number of "coins" or "tokens" system that can be traded with your desired loot. Some people going up empty-handed most of the time because of this hefty RNG-based system.

Some working people doesn't tend to "grind" hours of doing it.

Please hear my suggestion Square-Enix Team. I would be glad if you do so. This is a customer's suggestion.

Sadly only the new "Trials" will, not the "Raids".

90+ farm runs of T10 and the lock-out runs prior to it and no aiming sash. GG. Meanwhile I have all the Dreadwyrm gear for my secondary class, NIN. RNG is a bitch.

Yeah i have tried for 2 months for Caster Robe in wod and gave up now that i actually am trying for Bard Chest it never drops and it often dropped while i was not wanting it.. go figure
So hooray for 3 months or so not getting any gear at all

Good Luck with that, every MMO or roleplaying game in general, from loot drops to auto attack, is based off of RNG. e.g whether a hit lands or misses is a RNG, modified by your accuracy stat, hence why there are "soft caps" of accuracy where your modifier negates the low end of the RNG, making it impossible to miss. D&D, Everquest, Warcraft, FFXI, and now FFXIV all follow this formula, hell even the pen and paper rpgs did. Though I agree it's not perfect, it's like they say about democracy; it's the best system we have so far.

They are changing things because of enough whining. You can have it now instead of work for it. You will then have nothing to do and will whine about the lack of content then leave. Seriously where is the sense of achievement in dungeons that drop no loot? Granted the ones that do now should be dropping much more but a token system is so boring.

I guess this ffxivs version of ffxi complaints. At least at don't need to camp HNM for the current Bis gear. Afk during windows, oh I do miss those dragon aery spike flail MPK days. Lol

Is this supposed to be a joke? Literally the only purpose of dungeon drops is desynth and glamour, and who is talking about dungeons anyway? If you read the OP you'll notice he's speaking of raids.
Nobody needs a token system for worthless dungeon loot, but for the raids, where everyone is supposed to pull their weight and, with the current system, only few are rewarded, chosen by nothing but random luck, a token system would be a lot better and fairer. Just like Shiva Extreme's upgrade pieces, 1 guaranteed per kill.
Too often have I seen the worst people of the group walk away with the drops, leaving those who actually dragged them through the content entirely unrewarded. A token system would fix that.

I completed reports and essays camping Leaping Lizard so my THF/NIN wouldn't be a weapon skill fizzler pre lvl76. Spent nights cramming and camping to get my THF Knife. If FXIV=FFXI, I wouldn't have the time in my RL to play it nowadays. Honestly, the majority of the XIV crowd have no idea what grinding really is.

The point is, this is a subscribed game. Most money you pay for subscription is from work or businesses which require you work yourself off. We cannot invest so much time for heavy 'grinds' to rewards ourselves in-game(raid-based).

I hope Square Enix understands the mature players and we cannot add more of commitments here than on real-life.

Eventually, players will get drained and realize it's not worth more of a time. Ending up quitting the game.

SE developers obviously knew about this since day 1 . RNG made players stay long enough to pay for their monthly game time and at the same time write a good paycheck bill to their bank account. Every attempt to critize RNG will most probably fall on deaf ears. The best way is to stand infront of them and demand an answer harshly . People tends to take advise lightly or totally ignore it when they don't feel the anger straight infront of them. Only when they seen anger mob present in their gameshows, only then they'll realise that they've crossed the line. Every anger in words is only walt disney to them.

RNG is the key to have people hooked to your game. So long as you don't instantly reward with 100% of all what they want, you make sure they stay longer. It's how has always worked on MMOs.

Besides there is already token gear, with some of it being BiS. If you want your best possible combination then go through the RNG that comes with it.

They will also quit when they get all the loot they want in a matter of a month to six weeks and find there is nothing else to do. Then they will be on here saying there is no new content.

Lol then why not raid with a static if you are so good and carrying everyone? I meant dungeons in general and not just in this game. In most games i play the dungeons and raids drop a ton of loot and sometimes you have a chance for really rare gear or items that's what makes it fun. This game didn't have much loot anyway but i want them to increase drops across the board with good drops and super rare stuff being rewarded sometimes. All a token system fixes is that you know how many weeks it'll take to get the best gear and that's not how it should be because then you get a system of people like "Okay i sub for this long and i have all the best gear then i can unsub and wait for new content". It's not healthy for a game. The only reason people want this stuff is because they have a sense of entitlement that they should have all the best gear now. What is the point in that? Where is the sense of achievement in raid loot if everyone can have the full set in a few weeks?

It is unfair the system I keep running raids sometimes did them 5 to 10 times in a row and each time to end up with not one item. rthink I have run wod about 70 times and only have won 5 items from all times running it. that does not seem like a fair system. all im looking for is that you get something for running it. maybe at end you can pick a sands of time, oils of time or token for glamour items. Tired of never getting anything from raids or dungeons no matter how many times run them never win item or gear for class i am never drops. This game isn't worth no month fee to play it. Not even sure make it to heavensward before quiting it. Unless they fix loot problems to it. No gear or items from running dungeons and raids doesnt make a happy player. Today ran St with my scholar did 90% of the healing and didnt get one item but healer that did hardly anything got all the items. How is this fair you do most the work keep team alive and dont get a thing for it. All know this game not worth any monthly fee for it how it is.

I already quit the game once when atma was introduced and that was where RNG really mattered. Imagine joining a fate party, been grinding for 5 hours and get nothing then someone joins and gets his atma in just 1-2 fates. Really, how frustrating this can be for an average mmo player. After that, i understood the "logic" behind relic and how rng affected it and i gave up on it completely.Well i don't mind grinding FcoB with my static for a drop since imo coil requires individual-group skill to be covered and therefore it makes me a better player while being fun at the same time. No offense to zeta owners but imo relic stages don't increase your skill as a player(only zenith did) but only takes away your time and gil.

This is where having good PvP comes in.

I'm so confused why people wouldn't want a token system. My static cleared 10-12 for the months before seeing a single tank drop. Meanwhile our bard was bis minus the gear from T13 then got both his chest and bow our first two clears.

They are implementing a token system for the savage mode raids in 3.0 which can only be cleared once a week for loot. The party leader will determine who gets what gear. Getting needed drops are important for groups working on progression who need the gear to meet dps, healing, and tanking checks.

After 71 times T10 successful runs (not included failed runs) Finally saw my first slaying neck dropped.
Ya This RNG system is very unrewarded and huge punishment to Unlucky people.

I agreed with token system.

While I agree the token system idea is a very poor option as it can create a "lazy" player base, I do think that a new function to the loot system needs to be created. Something like a once per day/week multiplier to give every player more "control" without it being to lenient on a lazy play style, perhaps even a loot reroll(like the loot can be rolled over to a different item) if a majority of the party agreesbut only aloud once per run. Obviously these functions would have there own flaws but I think its on the right track. RNG is important to a loot system personally but a LITTLE control for the player could go a long way.

I think you're a bit confused about the definition of work.
This RNG stuff is like gambling... There's a chance you could play everyday your entire life and never win. That's how lottery systems function.

yoschi said he would detail the new loot systems in an UPCOMING life letter. 4 weeks to go and we still dont have infos. tough there is heavensward part 2 on E3. i really want a info on HOW this supposed new raid loot system works. if the current RNG mess stays i am done with raids on this game. weekly locked content shouldnt be this punishing in terms of rewards.
