So I have seen a couple of Job/class threads on here since I have been playing and while it is nice to have an idea of what people are looking for as it shows SE some things we want, I'd like to take it further. Let's get started by me pointing out the criteria of what I am looking for:
1. Name of job
2. Role it fills
3. Origin of job (i.e. country of origin)
4. Some lore behind it.
5. Come up with a skill that is unique to the job but is balanced.
6. Pick weapon
7. Expansion you would like to see it in (let's be realistic)
The job can be something that already exists in the Final Fantasy series or something new altogether. Feel free to post more than one idea. I myself will post one separate of OP for the sake of clutter and so this will be a stand alone guide. Let's do this!

1. Holy Knight

4. A regiment of the temple knights that stand as a last defense should the dragoon corps fall. Their blades, blessed by Halone, can cut through nearly anything including dragon scales. The full potential is seen through their sword arts which has been said to call down the Fury's rage upon their foes.
5. Fury's Wrath: lvl 60; AOE; effective range: 5 yalms in a circle around target. Has a 30% chance to inflict stun. Stun duration: 8 seconds Potency: 300 Cool down: 90 seconds
6. Knight Sword
7. Late in Ishgard would be happy with Ala Mhigo or Othard Iles if we go to one or the other next. -

4. Extremely rare order of mages that are sometimes dismissed as pure speculation or myth. The Grey only ever seem to surface when world is in need of more time to save it self and quickly disappear without a trace. Specializing in Time and Gravity magiks, the grey can enter an area, inflict damage and leave without anyone ever knowing how or what defeated the foe. The grey also may help the needing by simply granting abilitys that the person may dismiss as a crazy adrenaline rush or there blade carrying way more weight in the strike.
5. Haste - Grants target 3x the speed as well as cutting the opponents speed and attackspeed/spellspeed by 3x
GreyEffect - Grants target 50% more attacking force while each attack causes stun for 2 seconds each blow (total spell lasts for 15 seconds)
LB3 - GreyAdvatage, causes whole party the effects of Haste and GreyEffect for 10 seconds.
6. Magik'd stones that give the GreyMage the ability to materialize a weapon of gravity

4. An order of warriors scattered to the winds from the Garlean invasion. They all share their Beserker training and they have yet to meet an adventurer to train in their fighting style.
5. Rage(DPS warriors ^^), an ability that increases all damage for a short time.
6. Dual wield swords.
7. Either Heavensward patch or afterwards. I don't know where the story is going, but if we are going to Ala Mhigo or the desert the Beserker is the perfect DPS class for the expansion ^^. -

4. Not all lancemen of Ishgard are able to become dragoons. Those who cannot master its way become part of the Holy Sentinels. They whether all the blows for the sake of the Holy See. Not even the breathe of a dreadwyrm can break through their holy shields.
5. Holy Fortress- create a 7 yalm aoe around you that reduces all dmg by 30% and a regen(100 potency) for everyone in it. Drains mp while activated
6. Short spear and great shield

4. A bunch of wanderers who got lost in the woods, went crazy and started forming a special bond with animals of all sorts.
5. Pet Attack - flings a random pet at the target. If it turns out to be a cat, the target is hit for 50 potency and receives damage over time. If it's a dog, the target is hit for 150 potency. If this attack crits, it's a bear and the skill applies both increased potency and damage over time.
6. Various pets to throw at your enemies.
7. Realistically? We'll never see such a class, sadly. But it'd be more fun than dealing with the current, clunky pet mechanics. -

4. Battlemages that are able to harness the power of both black and white magic. While they haven't mastered either school of magic, they are capable of putting out respectable damage and are known as reliable healers.
5. Abilities.- Dual Cast: Allows the Red Mage to instantly cast two spells back-to-back at half the MP cost. Duration: Instant CD: 60 Seconds.
- Refresh: Increases MP regeneration on a single target. Duration: 30sec CD: 2 min
- En-(Elemental) Enchants the Red Mage's blade with one of many elements. ex; fire= chance to apply DOT, Ice= Chance to slow, Lightning= chance to paralyze. Toggle Skill.
- Limit Break Lv3: Pimpin: The Red Mage flourishes his magnificent hat and cape while introducing the enemy to his "escorts." Enemy loses desire to battle, rewarding the party with an instant win.

Lore: Very few Garleans possess the skill required to master this art. Those who do tend to join special elite teams, or the upper ranks of the Garlean military. Garlean defectors have since thought this skill to adventures which have shown and aptitude for the job.
Expansion: We could see this job in an expansion where we go to Garlea. However the implementation of this job is... doubtful.
My idea for this job would be that it's auto attacks are single hit, but the abilities you use would hit twice at a time to simulate firing the gun when you swing. -

Since the remains of Thalaos trembled and spoke to one of the locals, it have proven to be the idol for inspiration.
5. Come up with a skill that is unique to the job but is balanced : "Crack" Saves the synthesis from failing but decreases quality by 5%. Once activated, will sit as a status until craft is complete. If craft is not at risk of failing the skill will not be used.
6. Pick weapon : Main hand is a dusting brush and off hand is an applicator brush
7. Expansion you would like to see it in : I'm not clued up as to whats expected after Heavensward but it'd most suite the build up of a post-war storyline. -

6. Scythe.
7. If we visit Doma, which I do believe we will in 4.0, then I can see it in 4.0 -

Heres an interesting thought, what if one job could actually be two depending on the weapon equiped? And that to change to the other weapon you had to re-pledge your allegiance? In this example perhaps even linked to beast tribe recognition. I dont mean like Arcanist as thats different roles entirely. See below:

4. The invention of the Ixali, an expectant is one who can predict the outcomes of throwing artefacts that return, and thus have a range of skills available to deal damage and manuever around the enemy. They are considered the brains compared to the Bombardier. This is a position-dependant ranged class with fairly-quick moves.
5. "Quarter-spin". When facing the rear, deal 190 and positions player to the flank (right), or when faced head-on 170 and positions player to flank (left).
6. boomerang, frisbee
7. Just whenever - could even be introduced in current game
VS
1. Bombardier
2. Ranged DPS
3. O'Ghomoro
4. The invention of the Kobold, the bombardier is interested in dealing maximum damage and destruction with launched attacks such as firesticks and bombs. They are considered the braun compared to the Expectant. They spend more time in packing their punch but are adapt at spreading the chaos through crowded areas.
5. "Wildfire". Mark an area in which future attacks will spread to nearby targets within the radius. Lasts for 12 seconds.
6. Torch

Famed lancer's of the proud martial state of Ala Mhigo, these stalwart defenders of the temples served as rear guard covering the escape of refuges in the last days of the cities defense, electing to save as many innocents as possible. Forming a wall with their heavy shields and striking out with heavy lance these warriors held the advance of Garlemald by weakening the enemy vanguard, crippling units in their tracks until over run by superior numbers. Though most of the order was lost in those dark days, their legend continue in the hearts and minds of the sons and daughters of Ala Mhigo.
5. Rhalgr's Conviction: An AOE skill that increases the duration of DOT skills applied to enemy by 3-6-10 seconds (level 10-30 45). Shield Rush: linear enemy attack that allows the Templar to engage the target quickly (level 15). Knee Crush: conical heavy lance attack that effects multiple targets, increases enmity and impairs (heavy) affected units for 3 seconds (level 20).

I post in most of these threads I come across. but I love doing it. I will continue to advocate for a Job that is unique to the FFXIV universe. I'll put a few screenshots in "Hide" mode so as not to take up too much room. Here goes!
1. Aether Knight
2. DPS/Tank
3 & 4. Created after the end of the 7th Umbral Era using the imbued powers of the Aetherite crystals that have sprung up all across the land. It is a new and uncharted Job that share their discoveries with one another, growing and learning through trial and error. This job will imbue their armor and weapons with Aetherite Crystals to create powerful auras of magic to smite their foes.
There can be two disciplines one of Blue Aetherite and one of the Orange Aetherite, Blue is offensive, while Orange is defensive. Abilities will be dual purpose depending on which color you choose. You can switch between them via activating/deactivating the Job stone (cannot be done in an instance or during combat, except PvP) and will change the color of your armor to signify which aspect you are.
Weapons will be Jeweled swords, each different type will have a different added effect (Emerald sword, hp drain. Ruby sword, fire damage. etc. Have names like Emerald bastard/long/short/dreadwyrm sword. Jewel describes added effect and the second part will describe the style of sword). See hidden pics for a visual of what I am picturing.
5. Crystal Rage; Does extra elemental damage based on the style of sword you use for a potency of 130 and places an elemental debuff on enemy based on style of jewel (Ruby does fire DOT. Emerald does Life sap DOT) for a duration of 15s. Combos with Crystal Purity.
Crystal Purity; Does damage with potency of 140 when used after Crystal Rage it also increases the duration of debuff by 15s. Combos with Crystal Crush.
Crystal Crush; Does damage with a potency of 220. When used after Crystal Purity it will do extra elemental damage based off weapons jewel.
Crystalisis; Off GCD ability, expends active crystal buff doing the remaining DOT damage all at once
(I suck at the numbers on this so they can obviously be altered to create better balance, this just a "rough" idea)
6. Crystal Sword or Crystal Hammer
7. 5.0 or beyond, they most likely already have 4.0 planned out and are working on it so it would need to be way later. Although 4.0 would be cool. -

5. Improvise- Similar to mundra, the player has a list of parts they can select to make different kinds of bombs depending on what is the most appropriate to their situation. The bombs stack like aethyrflow, with the number of stacks being dependent on the relative strength of the bomb and whether the player creates a low radius or high radius version. A high burst damage, large AOE bomb would just give one stack and then once it's used, regular grenades attacks would be usable until this ability comes off cooldown. A high burst damage, single target bomb would give like 3 stacks for the player to use. An AOE DOT bomb (Molotov cocktail) would give 2 stacks, since it would be intended for using on more than one mob in a dungeon or more than one set of adds in a boss fight. A separate stack counter will exist for party support bombs- choice between creating 3 stacks of a medium strength, medium AOE range nail bomb (lowers piercing resistance), shrapnel bomb (slashing resistance), or acid bomb (magic resistance) so you can optimize based on party composition. And of course they will have a separate Smoke Bomb ability on a long CD that increases party's evasion rate to 50% for 10 seconds.
6. Main hand- Grenade pouch ; Off hand- what if you could use your best offhand crafting tool with the main stat somehow making the bomb crafting step faster the higher it is (it would help the class from more of a QoL standpoint than power standpoint so that players can be as viable without a lvl 50 crafter and don't get excluded)
