Emnity Issues

Hello, I'm looking for some info on Emnity. I know how it works and never had an issue leveling up to 50 (I'm warrior) but now at level 50, doing the Expert dungeons and WoD I'm finding i'm having some major issues keeping hate on me.

Always seems to be healers I'm having the trouble with as well. Such as I was running daily Expert and had this healer was dpsing on top of healing, and kept losing hate to him no matter what I did, I had Defiance up, I was Overpowering like crazy just to keep all the mobs on me. He was using Holy mostly and would keep pulling more mobs. I asked him what he was doing to get so much hate on him, and proceeded to tell me I should figure out why i'm not keeping the hate.

I don't know what heals he was using to keep me and others topped off as well as be able to cast Holy so much, but I can't figure out if it was me or if he was just a jack@ss :/ Also his gear was all 130+ and i'm only at 95 ilvl, not sure if that really hurts me with my Axe only being ilvl 70? Thanks any willing to help me out!

Not the first time i've had issues with a healer, in the raids I seemed to have a healer htat would just get the threat and keep it, no matter what I do to try and take it back :/

Hi, I think you just dont gave enough strength or better weapon for keeping the enmity. Healer dpsing in ex roulette is a common thing.

I checked, and it looks like your using an i70 weapon. That's likely the problem.

You're going to have massive issues holding hate off of WHM and BLM that are using i110+ weapons. Not much you can do but upgrade that thing.

If just assume he used Cure III on top of Holy spams (probably Zodiac+ aka i120+) when he was taking dmg and you were as well. Which is a real baaaad combination to use if you got a lower geared tank. If cure III lands only on 3 of 4 people that's a healing value of at least 5k, if some heals crit that can easily go over 7k per cast. That aggro + the holy aggro... *sigh* i hope you see where this is going? ^^

tl;dr:
It can be tricky to keep the hate if there's a gap in ilvls between the tank and the group, especially if other group members don't give a damn and do the same with an i90-100 tank as they'd do with an i110-130 tank

I as a healer in ex roulette, will always DPS or DPS if I have a chance to.
But, I as a healer always looking out for the tank's gear. Probably tell the other DPS who are overgeared to hold back a little bit.

And I as healer will explain why you didn't get to keep the hate.

The short answer is: he was a jackass. Don't let it get to you - for every inconsiderate asshole you run into there's another person that's perfectly willing to be as helpful as possible when running with newer players. The reason you were losing hate is because your weapon is only i70. You'll want to get a higher item level one as soon as you possibly can. It'll help immensely in holding hate. The Conqueror is a nice boost and should be easy to get. At i95 you can run Syrcus Tower for the tomestone and saving up the soldiery shouldn't be a problem. Just let one of the other tanks do the heavy lifting and make sure to pick up adds any time that there are any.

Another weapon to go for is your Relic weapon, once its complete (which shouldn't take longer than a day or two) you'll have an ilvl 80 weapon, and 450 sol after that an i90 weapon. That plus defiance should be enough to keep your enemity above anyone who isn't a tank. After that save up Sol and try to get a tomestone drop from Sycrus Tower for the i100 weathered weapon, and a sands of time from the same raid to make it i110. That should most certainly end your problems.

just fyi, weapon is the biggest factor in enmity, it has the biggest increase on damage/healing and obviously effects enmity, recommend you getting that upgraded.

Like many tanks said here - Weapon Damage is most important parameter for dmg and aggro. Weapons must be first in leveling priority. Always.

Not all tanks know this, ive run across a few where they want to main tank with lower level gear. I asked to Mt cuz i would pull hate as OT(zeta war/Aug pld) they got offended thinking I was a elitist. I literally had to slow my rotations down (sad panda) i was on pld with all Bis left and fully melded slaying. The other novus. First time I had to use riot combo 95 percent of the time.lol

Yeah, the moment you hit the level cap, there's a huge range of items levels, you can be playing with people twice as strong as you are.

The range of equipment useable by a lv50 character is i50-i135, and expert dungeons are unsynced.

Having high gear level is more important for tank players than anyone else, because it will be impossible to keep the enemies on you if you are so far behind.

Yes, you need a better weapon, but that healer was also a huge douche. There's no point going into a dungeon with a Zodiac weapon, swinging your dick around and pulling hate off of the tank constantly, it's not helping at all, and if you can't adjust your playstyle to cater for the skill and equipment of the other people in your group you are a bad player. An overgeared DPS/healer can always generate less threat if they want, but an undergeared tank literally cannot generate more threat than their weapon allows.

just a small tip, if you are pulling, make sure you don't have any HoTs on you. you will pull and immediately have no hate on the adds, and for some reason it makes getting hate back really tough if you are undergeared. but, if you are way under geared and everyone is bis you will find it tough to hold on to adds, but I wouldn't panic, just flash and over power, only thing you can do.

You want to start playing with your rotations. OP is not going to cut it in these situations. Throw a berserk/bloodbath/steel cyclone, that may help. Hopefully you have flash as well. If you have multi mobs and they have holy....Your main job is to hold them still. As you approach the mobs, use your wrath stack CD, berserk/bb/sc, throw in some flash and op and you should hold. But def up the weapon. I have ran WOD, but trying to level some more gear before I go back. Held hate in there okish, but was pretty full on, I want some breathing space.

There are some really experienced Wars out there that can give you better rotation advice than me tho.

Thanks all, Gonna be getting my 130 ilvl weapon today (after EX Roul) Been saving up poetics for it on ninja/bard, so hopefully that helps ^.^
