Getting kicked out of Frontline by the server for using "Overwhelm" ability?

Is it only happening to me? sometimes the server will kick me out and I have to re-log, just because I use "Overwhelm" ability. server probably thinks that I can move so fast because I'm cheating or something.

Well, that's very likely not what the server thinks considering other people can use the ability without worry.

Not that it's definitely client-side, but this problem certainly sounds as though it is. Does it happen every time, reliably? Does it happen when other players use it?

Does FFXIV have some sort of file integrity check feature? If so, it might be a good idea to use it. There are a myriad of client-side potential causes. Might also be worth reinstalling the game to see if that fixes it.

not every time. just once in 6-7 matches.

I d/c a lot during Frontlines, but I've never noticed it being due to Overwhelm, personally. In fact, nearly every time I d/c, it's when I'm mounted and running toward combat rather than being in combat.

I, personally, have had no problem whatsoever with Overwhelm.

yeah, riding on a mount and move from place to place, can make you get kicked out too.

It's likely due to having an unstable ping with the server. A ping stabilizer program might help.

The only times I've gotten 90ked were when my internet connection was a bit wonky and during those times whenever I went on a mount I got DC'ed.

I think it's because they are trying to prevent people who are teleport hacking from playing and in some instances the mount/dismount (and on some level, Overwhelm) with a bad connection can simulate the behavior that the hackers have.

I did some research on ping stabilization due to this thread and stumbled upon this:

In short, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and probably 8 and 10, have a feature which throttles bandwidth use for non multimedia applications, limiting them to, by default, 10 packets per millisecond. According to the post I linked, it also supposedly lowers your connection speeds in order to ease the stress on some of your hardware. However, this is the only mention I found of this particular effect of the feature, so I'm a little skeptical.

In any case, could this potentially be the root of our problems? If it were throttling our packets to and from FFXIV, then I believe it could cause artificial ping discrepancy, which could result in some lag and a disconnect.

It's not a 90k issue. there's no error at all. the game just kick me out to the title screen without any error message. I can re-log back in immediately and my character wasn't stuck in the game so it's not a disconnection. it's just the server's decision to remove me for some reason (most likely it thinks that I'm cheating, as I explained in the OP).

Give the WTFast trial a shot and see if that fixes it.

But are you lagging bad before the kick. Seen enough warriors complain about lag but not get the disconnect icon and then poof gone. When the log back in they didn't mention error just said game kicked them. Actually had a Warrior yesterday that disconnected 5 times but always came right back. But no one else disconnected in our alliance.

I always have CMD /ping -t on FFXIV server and the ping-pong packages never been lost during the time I got kicked out.

I used to get kicked for similiar things when I was on a very unreliable internet connection. Pings definitely don't tell the whole story, at least they weren't in my case. It was more so ATT Uverse (my old ISP) had pretty terrible routes to the game servers in general. A VPN may be worth a shot at this point just to see if it clears anything up, it definitely solved most if not all my issues when I was with ATT.

What's most annoying annoying as well is how it wipes your battle high/fever :(

What do you mean? If you DC/exit game you lose your battle high/fever? That's very interesting because I want to get rid of that buff whenever I get it, as it basically is a sign that says "FOCUS ME PLZ"

Also to OT: I never dc'd when using overwhelm and I've played many games as NIN.

Yeah it does, kills remain the same just no buff anymore
