The Future is changing!

Hello everyone and developers team,

I post this with a tought in mine mind. What is the future of Gaming in FFXIV real world.
We all know that Playstation is coming with there VR glasses and Microsoft with there Hololens. People that doesn't know what Microsoft Hololens is then here a sneak peak in this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6sL_5Wgvrg.
What will FFXIV or SE do?
If you for instant get the hololens. Maybe it is possible that you don't need a keyboard at all but saying by words, what you will see in the video's. Like you do your skill by saying: "Shield Bash" and give tells/FC/linkshell1 to 8 by saying: tells/FC/linkshell1, 2, 3 etc....
This is what I wanted to say for the future in FFXIV or SE world.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that SE won't support it. If anything the only way it would be support would be through the community. Its a pretty useless device tbh.

@intopic: Voice commands will be a bit annoying for people trying to sleep behind you. :( When it comes to games, I'll always prefer keyboard+mouse//controller over any interface that requires actual movement (Reason why I don't own a Wii). I'd like to see a VR version of Eorzea, and Yoshi-p was already experimenting with it, but taking the most voted comment from it and posting it here...

Cool tho but it'd probs be expensiveeeeeeee.

"The future never changes..." Sorry, couldn't help it. Anyway, the problem with playing the game using something like the Oculus Rift is that this game wasn't designed to be played in the first person. There's a substantial disconnect, what with how in first person the view is only of what's in front of you and no matter what you do the camera doesn't move when you're performing actions leaving only the HUD to tell you what you just did. With how busy battles can get, that would result in a lot of unnecessary damage that could have been avoided if you, say, had the camera zoomed all the way out. As cool as VR would be, this game would need substantial changes to how the first person camera works before it'd be viable.

I've never liked voice command stuff, always seemed like a lame gimmick. Don't really see that stuff going beyond a niche.

Well with a game as fast pace as this, it would be nifty to use voice chat to type while using my hands to do combat related things. But then... there already are voice chat programs that we can and do use to accomplish the same thing essentially, but with smaller groups of people.

The good thing about something like that would be that it would work for anyone in the game. I would probably use it once I got used to it, but then why not just incorporate local or private voice chat directly into the game integration at that point. One has to wonder.

Because they wouldn't get annoying.

Intuitive controls stop being that when they are more frustrating to use than the standard control scheme.

Yelling sheild bash! and praying software recognizes your frantic shouts instead of pressing a single button is the reason things like Kinect have very limited uses in gaming applications. Hollo lens will be no different, it will specialize in some niche products and will do well at just that.

First thing i think when "virtual reality mmo" comes up

Tech hasn't developed that far yet. You'll see some neat games come out that use the tech at first then once it gets more support and people figure it out theeen you'll see more depth. It'll be awhile though.

Didn't they say that their experimenting with Project Morpheus?

Also, doesn't this game support PS4's motion control thing, too?

Using our fingers is the closest thing we have to using a nural response of any sort, they are the most precise and dexterous part of our bodies and there is a reason that we currently use them for any sort of task that requires a constant stream of concious and subconcious reactions. Using any other part of our bodies requires far more coordination within the real world and breaks the sense of immersion because we have to be contantly concious of ourselves in present space instead of able to focus our thoughts inward and project ourselves onto our avatars within the game world.

I can't speak for anyone else but I do find once your trying to remove the controller or keyboard the solutions have been far too clunky to keep you immersed in the experience or far too niche to apply on a wide range. Look at something like rockband a great game, perfect at being able to remove the traditional controler with a real world counterpart of something we are familliar with in function or at least form (The guitar, drum, mic) but that is a specific made product and nobody is making a new set of controls for every game they make.

VR tech is limited to first person experiences where you don't need to feel or be in total control of your surroundings to be immersed. Without tactile feedback from your environment the illusion is easilly broken and you feel a very stilted experience due to the disconect from how we experience the real world and the impossibillity of programing every possible input we could have with a virtual environment. Until they can make us able to feel the virtual space it will remain a interesting but stilted experience.

Go on a first person stroll in the Bramblepatch? Sure that would be great but forget combat or precise actions.

Let's not forget that this game is best viewed from a distance due to the muddy textures in the first place.
