Suggestions for Improving Chocobos and Other Mount Issues!

Just thought I would throw out a few suggestions for improving chocobos and mounts. right now they are a bit buggy and annoying at times.

Here are some improvements:

1. Allow the chocobo to be out while in duty finder. As a dps I am constantly in 30 minute queues and it would be nice to play with my chocobo.

2. Allow chocobos to be dismissed in the cities. Kind of frustrating that I have to leave a city before I can dismiss my chocobo.

3. Give mounts auto dismount! If I target an enemy who is attacking me and push an attack button, I really should be dismounted and start attacking... Same with teleports. If I choose to teleport it should just auto dismount me. Its kind of annoying that the only auto dismount is when you turn in quests.

I guess these things are really just quality of life issues, but I do feel they can be improved on and wanted to point them out. Have a great day! :D

You can dismiss choco from inside city, go to your Companion menu and right click Withdraw. They've long known of the request to have choco out and be able to queue for DF, this might be changed come 3.0 as it involves a change to party architecture. As for the auto-dismount, that's a pretty minor inconvenience but I suppose they could add this.

I want to be able to issue pet commands while mounted. Or failing that, put pets into auto-Steady when you saddle up. It's annoying to have your pet suddenly peel off and despawn due to distance because you picked up aggro while running somewhere, or noticing that Steady wasn't on and having to dismount, turn it on, and re-mount.

Personally, I'd like the ability to ride other mounts while the Chocobo is out. I dislike having to dismiss it to ride my other mounts.

A huge yes for the dismount-upon-attack.. It bugs me so much that I have to dismount and then attack - especially as a ps4 player, the dismount button (L3) focuses on the enemy, especially if you pull an enemy or mob and it auto-targets... I've lost count of how many times I've spent a few seconds targetting, untargetting and then dismounting because I keep forgetting the damn auto-target.

And seeing as how I have my hot-bar set to sheathed/unsheathed-expanded, I actually need to activate a button combo to attack if I'm mounted. Ick.

It's weird because you can do some things like interacting with people/objects and it automatically dismounts you, but not initiating combat actions...

Use L1+R1 to dismount.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess the issue I was having was I cant right click my portrait (or the chocobos portrait) and dismiss that way. Having to go through a separate menu instead of just right clicking is kind of annoying.

Like I said, chocobos and mounts in general feel clunky and unpolished. They need to clean them up and improve them a bit, lol

Everything but #3 is anyway in the works or is already possible. 3 is just nitpicking anyway. Personally I use controller and don't want to dismount for accidental button presses so I don't want that feature anyway.

It's not weird. Originally the system had no auto dismount. What you have today is there by player request so only that request was fulfilled. It was a specific quality is life fix not a overall overhaul for all situations done as quickly as possible to make players happy.

Press L1+R1 while mounted. It also sheath/unsheath your weapon while not mounted.

Move the icon to your hotbar and use it like a skill.
