needs to be a sub forum for rmt complaint threads sooo

Wouldn't have to be this way if SE could just put some legit filters in place so that every time I take off Busy status I don't get a screen full of RMT tells. I mean, would it really be so hard? Is it just not something the dev team cares about? It's got to be the easiest QoL fix to improve player retention that they could possibly implement, and here we are, about to go into an expansion, where a ton of new players are going to join and then promptly leave because hey, I got better things to do than get spammed with advertising if that's what MMOs are all about apparently (good bye first time MMO players, thanks Yoshida!).
Blame SE for not doing jack. It's not unreasonable that paying customers come here to voice their displeasure at situations like Hiruke's.
Tired of seeing these complaining that SE does nothing. Have you actually looked at the gibberish the gil sellers send you in tells. It doesn't qualify as english in any sense of the word so there are filters in place but they have worked out ways to bypass them. I think also this varies from server to server as on Pheonix I rarely ever get any tells and by the time I notice them they have already been banned, I suspect because there is a system in place that if a gil seller receives a certain amount of blacklists in a time frame they are banned. One thing to note about why SE never tells us what systems are in place to combat this, in short any information about what they do is also given to the sellers and the second you know someone is doing something to stop you you can figure out a way around it. So don't expect SE to come out and say we are doing X, Y or Z to deal with gil sellers but do what you can to help the problem on your server. black list and report gil sellers and bots when you see them Se will be coming up with better and better technologies to deal with them but due to the nature of this problem they won't be able to tell anyone what they are doing.
SE doing nothin?? really??
odin used to have horrible bot spam in uldah insanely bad guess what?? maximum tells i get a week is 2-3 tops... dont even get spam on shout in any of the major cities anymore.. used to avoid uldah cause the bot spam constantly there.. now its peaceful not a single shout by gil sellers.. so obviously SE are doing somethin right :3
even bot spam friend requests i might get 1 a day but thats easily solved with a blacklist
This stopped being funny from both sides ages ago. Now people just want to shout over each other to be the loudest.
The amount of rmt threads are becoming almost as annoyingly spammy as the rmt tells in game..
Ignore Our Players Section.
The RMT problem needs to be addressed. I understand that SE perform mass bans on RMT accounts and accounts of gilbuyers, however the RMT problem persists. As paying customers who want the game to be very prosperous for the lifespan of the game, we voice our concern regarding the RMT activity here on the forums where we hope our voices will be heard. It's obvious that the report option in game does little good, and the vast majority of people who are concerned about the issue filled up their blacklists long, long, ago. So as with any thread in these forums, if you aren't interested in having to read posts made by people voicing their concern about the RMT situation, just scroll on, and don't bother to click on the thread. It's that easy. No one is forcing you to view the Anti-RMT threads, and I don't know about you, but those threads have not hindered my ability, whatsoever, to view all of the other threads that are posted about other topics, unlike how RMT spam fill my chat log throughout the duration of my playtime in game, unless I'm in a dungeon or raid, which hinders my ability to keep up with conversations via /tell, /fc, or /l. This is a serious issue. It's apparent that a lot of people want to see the complaint threads merely swept under the rug, as they find them to be an inconvenience, but the inconvenience to us, as paying customers, is much more severe, and we have every right to voice our concerns here in the General Discussion portion of the forums.
If you want the Anti-RMT threads to go away, simply join the growing number of people who are requesting that SE take more action against the RMT, so that we can reach a point in which we no longer feel that it's necessary to post about the problem here in the General Discussion portion of the forums, due to SE finally having taken serious action to eliminate the problem. The problem may not be as big of a deal to you, as the inundation by RMT varies from server to server, but on my server I get a /tell, and or a friend request from an RMT on average approximately once ever 5 minutes or less.
The RMT are driving people away from the game, and are going to cause for new players to question whether or not they want to retain a subscription to the game, which is detrimental to the lifespan and prosperity of the game itself. It would be a good business decision on SE's part to heed our cries for help and finally take serious action against the RMT. If the portion of SE who work on FFXI were able to virtually eliminate the RMT problem there, then there is no reason whatsoever that Yoshida san, or the Dev Team, can not ask for advice, and or assistance, from the team who were able to accomplish eliminating the RMT problem in Vana'diel.
However if you prefer, we could all stop posting about our concerns with RMT, and let the RMT drive this game into the ground. While they not only seriously inconvenience a very large portion of the playerbase, but naive people who think that it might be cool to buy gil could visit the RMT sites and have their identities and accounts stolen, or players who are fed up and want to go to those RMT sites to complain could also put themselves at the same risk.
This issue does not need to be ignored. It needs to be addressed. I've said it before numerous times, but with now over 130 threads about the RMT problem and a number of threads complaining about the number of Anti-RMT threads, we have had zero response from any Community Moderator or SE in regards to the issue. If you didn't get your bluebird earring for participating in a contest and posted about it in the forums you would receive a response within roughly 24-72 hours. Those of us who have grown tired of the RMT plague have been asking for a response for a very long time now and we are either being ignored, or there are SOP that the Community Mods must follow that prevent them from giving us any response regarding the issue. That's the best that I can come up with as to why they haven't responded. We're not asking for any long winded and detailed explanation of how SE are going to eliminate the RMT and every step by step action that they will be taking. If a lot of the posters are like me, then they would be satisfied with a simple, "We've heard (read) your cries for help regarding the issue. Due to the escalated nature, and severity, of the issue we will be taking more action against the RMT. Soon you will find that your chat logs will no longer be filled with RMT advertisements, and you will no longer have to play with /busy status. We appreciate you guys having brought our attention to the severity of the issue, and we will be making our best efforts to ensure that your experience in Eorzea is an experience that you can enjoy without worry that you will receive a /tell or friend request from RMT. There will be options added to your chat log configuration that we hope you find to be very useful in preventing yourselves from receiving /tells from RMT, as well as options to prevent RMT spam from appearing in /sh, /y, or /s. As far as RMT friend requests are concerned, as a QoL improvement we will be implementing a 1 click option to decline the friend request, as well as adding a right click option you may use to /blacklist and report any character you feel is involved in RMT. Please be advised that you must set your settings to your preference in order to prevent the RMT spam. We appreciate your continued support! Again, the RMT issue will be addressed. Please look forward to it!"
spamming forums with 20 different rmt topics a day isnt gonna get it solved any faster then posting your complaints all on the 1 topic tho is it?? its just doing exactly what people are complaining gill sellers are doing in forums lol
Best way for SE to make the RMT threads stop is to actually take action for a change and give us some much-needed defense against spam.
Apparently, spamming the forums with over 130 threads requesting that SE address the issue hasn't been enough to get the point across and inspire SE to take serious action to alleviate us paying customers from having to be inundated with RMT spam. Until the problem is resolved you can pretty much be guaranteed that the Anti-RMT threads will continue to pop up and will be here to stay. Like I mentioned, if you're not interested in the contents of an Anti-RMT thread simply scroll on. It's that easy. Also, like I previously mentioned the number of RMT threads that are posted have in no way hindered my ability to view any other topics that are posted here in General Discussion.
It baffles me that someone reporting that they didn't receive a bluebird earring, which is of no real use other than glamour, receives a prompt and almost immediate response while threads about an actual problem that could hinder the ability of this game to prosper and be very successful receive no response whatsoever.
