WOAH, WOAH! Answer this please!!

I know this is SLIGHTLY irrelevant to XIV, but hear me out 'cause I dunno where else to go.

I hear tell that players of XI were being given 2-3 months to convert their playonline accounts to click and buy... Or else what?? Are they DELETING character information of people who don't do the conversion in time???? :C Because I'm not paying for XI and playing it right now, but holy damn, I still want my character in the databases for whenever I choose to pick it back up again.

Can anyone confirm this??

.. If they did make everyone convert, the worst they could do if you don't do it is just cancel your payment account thus making you unable to use your characters. You should still have them.

EDIT: Also there is a FFXI forum.

Well my payment account is already canceled at the moment because I'm not going to be playing it for about another year, but I still intend to pick it back up eventually.

And I know theres a XI forum, but I'm not signed up for it.

The characters shouldnt be deleted, just the IDs will be canceled because there is no payment method attached to the account.

If you are worried about it you can switch your account while it isnt active if you want, and it will make sure your character is safe.

You just won't be able to play. Essentially your billing information won't be there, so they can't charge you.

Looks like I'm never playing FFXI again then.
I used that years ago and it was such a pain in the ass I never want to use it again.

Yes, I'll do that. :C Nothing I've heard really sounds like a sure thing about keeping the character information.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure if you don't convert to Click n Buy, then they reserve the right to eat your firstborn.

For those not in the know, SE reacted to the MASSIVE outrage and extended the deadline to transfer Playonline accounts over to Square Enix Accounts for a few extra months until they could improve their billing system.

So do not panic. Nothing has gone belly up or changed on you yet.

And why panic anyway? O.o If your account is already not active, why care? Is it deleted now? No. Will it be? Maybe. If I can take from my past experience with "breaking" from XI here and there, the characters are still there and will be for quite sometime. I was gone for over a year and it was still there. Relax and change or don't.

How can you not be signed up to it? it uses SE accounts, you're posting on this forum so you're already signed up to it.

If she has not yet transferred her Playonline account to her SE account or at least linked them up, her ability to post on these forums and the XI forums are not yet bound together.

There is also a big question mark hanging over what will happen to Playonline accounts that remain untransferred after the cut-off. Will they be put in hibernation? Deleted entirely? We don't really know yet...

They're not deleted they just can't be reactivated till after they completely shift to the Square-enix managment system or w/e the hell it's called. After that you just reactivated it through that. You just have to create a se account which you had to do to play xiv, Link your ffxi account, fix the payment (They are adding direct cc payment and the ability to buy exact amounts of crysta within the next few months), then just pay any owed fees then done!

I had to help a few friends with it. It's not that bad. In fact you can direct pay with a CC to buy crysta right now, just not in exact amounts just yet.

You have to have active content IDs over there to post, just like you need an active character to post here, the op has said thier account is inactive so they cant post on the ffxi forums.
