Finally it is possible to push early in T13. Better pony droprates sounds nice. Glad it is only echo, but no mechanic nerfs.
That's five hours worth, though? A five-hour maint for THAT?
Drop rate increase to ponys? I did not see that one coming. Pleasant surprise =D
Good job Square Enix!
No nerfs and item level 123 for t13. (Item level 123 is what you get with 130/135 weapon, full 130 left side, and full 110HQ penta-melded accessories, which are BiS for tanks... for WAR at least, not sure about PLD)
I was worried it'd be ilv125 and I'd have to switch to some 130 fending/slaying accessories to queue for t13 and then change back when inside. It'd be annoying.
Remember that maint might not be as long as they say, and I think they keep certain things (like bot account banning) out of the patch notes to keep them in the dark. Plus if something goes wrong they gave themselves a window to get it done and not have to extend it.
There could be other internal stuff with the servers they are doing, like getting rid of those pesky players that always send tells and friend requests, server stability...also making sure they don't mess up the DF like the did last time.
LOL to all the people that think 10% echo is going to be just "what we need" to finally kill bahamut...
You are going to still have to learn the dance (well whats left of it since the Shadow of Meracydia got removed but still), there is quite a bit of dance left to learn....
Just like people said about turn 9. "Oh boy, now even I can kill it nao" Sorry...yes its much easier, but not enough that you can just cheese it on your first try... :p (that's still a few patches away to be sure)
Glad I beat it before echo, but even more glad it's just echo they're adding and no mechanics nerf. And no punishment for extra DPS.
T9 never got a nerf, iirc. So...
(Also Echo isn't a nerf since mechanics are the number one killer in Coil, and those tend to be live or die type mechanics regardless of HP totals)
That's good for the players who actually have gotten that far. But for those still stuck at T9 due to horrible parties not being able to get past Meteors...yeah, we're still waiting for help on that (outside of getting better players).
Ultimately alot of players probably won't be completing t9 (or t5 for that matter), atleast not anytime soon, because it is supposed to be some of the hardest content out there. I wish you luck in beating t9 and beyond of course, something I haven't done yet myself. But at this point finding players you can trust to be good alongside yourself is your only hope.
This means my static will get to beat FCoB before any significant nerfs. Shame about the Shadow, but I suppose I can live with that. xD This'll make farming a little bit faster and pushing 4 bennus guaranteed for pretty much anyone, which is good.
A little annoyed that Poetics cap isn't removed. It'd be nice to start collecting some BiS pieces...
It can definitely make a difference depending on group. My FC's T9 groups were actually greatly aided by a 5% echo boost because it gave some additional stability to the phase change into final phase without having to blow LB, due to the way our DPS worked out. It also amplifies the margin of error on a number of things - "just barely killed" becomes "just barely survived" (such as back to back meteor streams).
This isn't to say that it's going to neuter a lot of mechanics though, because a lot of them are still going to be fatal and major focal points, but, better stats can make a difference.
So no Steps of Faith adjustments? Just avoid Trials Roulette like the plague or instant dropout and take the 30 minute penalty?
I'm not sure if you've ever used the duty finder on that fight, but literally nobody listens. I explain roles, and what to do for every class to make things easy, and it's still absolute chaos. I don't even touch trial roulette anymore thanks to that garbage, I farm my poetics from FCoB, since apparently that is easier to clear.
Helping is nice but Trial Roulette was supposed to be a quick thing that you can queue and enjoy some fast content and be over with it. 40min of doing SoF to help people is fine the first time, but after the 5th time it's just too much. They should have moved it to the main story roulette or something. You might say that if you don't like it, don't queue, but that's exactly what me and probably many others have done, increasing queue times in general.
No, the roulettes were intended to speed up queues for content that's missing certain roles. The bonuses you get from them are your reward for helping these players A) get into their instance, and B) clear the content with your help.
All that Steps really needs is half-decent DPS, a tank who is okay-ish at picking up adds and a few people who can read instructions and play accordingly. If one player knows the fight and takes the time to explain and assign people their roles, more often than not you'll succeed.
Regarding my other post. I just reread the notes, yea I agree, that 3rd shadow would have been a pain anyway with the echo. Sometimes bahamut would get pushed by dots alone.
I didn't mean to imply that this thread was "loling" about the echo and it being easy... Actually I'm just thinking of the party finder messages on my home server leviathan after the echo came to turn 9 for the first day of the patch and the conversations going on in my linkshells... :x
"ECHO TIEMZ, come halp me clear turne nine plox kthx!" "um, have you done this before? Or know anything about the fight at all" "No, but there is echo nao!" "...."
Really like you all mentioned, the echo is probably going to be more of a pain for those who are clearing it. I know we already push it too fast in some stages. It will require adjustment to keep farming it. Our poor warrior hasn't got his axe yet... while others in my static have like 4 alt weapons... >.<
I don't remember SE saying this. In all honesty, I believe the trial roulette is there to help new players the reward isn't that great. If your leaving the trial because you got Steps of Faith then you are missing the whole point of the roulette. It's random, if you get it deal with it and at least try and not just give up. The reason its in trial roulette is because its a trial and they need people to continue helping new player though it simple. No one said it had to be some quick think that you can queue and enjoy fast content and be over with it.
I'm truly pleased. No nerfs, outside that modification in T13 which is more than welcome. /clap Thanks for not taking the fun away from us, SE! <3 I loved the pony drop rate modification as well.
I dodge it not because it's hard, but because it's boring and frustrating when people can't follow even simple instructions. I mean it can't get simpler than "don't shoot the dragonkiller before he's in the red circle" can it? But nope, just like life, pugs, pugs will find a way...
I guess it doesn't matter cause I don't queue for it anymore. They can make it whatever they want for all I care now, especially since we don't even get any more poetics because I'm capped at 450 halfway through the week anyway.
Although I really wish they had made some kind of at least token crafting adjustments or gathering adjustments, I suppose I cant be too mad about this patch.
There is zero here that affects me, is all.
Who's saying I'm leaving the trial? I just don't queue in the first place...
The issue is the time difference between SoF and the other trials is just too big. If I have 30min to spare, I can't queue trials at all because I might get SoF when before SoF each trial was less than 10min on average, maybe 20min if you have a lot of new people.
Actually pretty happy about the 10% Echo Buff. Means I don't have to try as hard to carry Party Finder DPS ;)
No but really, I'll take the Echo over mechanic buffs anyday
Yeah, same here. Since that thing was added to the trial roulette, I don't bother anymore. 10 poetics for more than half an hour of trying and people messing up? no thanks. I really miss these 5 minutes run for almost free poetics. I'l always prefer tol run another expert in the mean time.
