They are?
I'd rather have a remote island full of dinosaurs....
Eh, they are and aren't. In some they are just enemies with no real lore. I think the most lore I've seen for "Werewolves" were for the Gnoles in FFXI saying that they came from the north and were once men. (Memory is hazy)
There have only been a handful of games that let you play as a werewolf... and Final Fantasy wasn't any of them (not even sure if you can be one in XI's beast-riding minigame... thing). And in neither of those games were you doing anything remotely 'heroic' when raging as a werewolf. Heck, in Skyrim you recovered health by eating people while you were a werewolf...
How about a race based on Gnoles?
We need more werecats
maybe a feature that turn a playercharacter for 1 hour into a werecat if it got bitten by a Miqo'te during full moon
Mermaids! I'm calling it now for the water expansion. Even though there is no basis in Eorzea lore for them, we will get mermaids.
I wouldn't mind this, being a fan of wolves and anything wolfish, but it's highly unlikely. Werewolves really just aren't part of FF lore other than a random enemy for random battles in some of the games. The closest we have are the snow wolves, etc in Coerthas and I believe in La Noscea? (or were those jackels...) - which just share a model with other 'Hound' monsters.
Don't think they would fit in the Story :/
I dont think I have enough facial hair to count :)
Now that I think about it, I have yet to see another miqote male with facial hair like me o.O
There is already a well known mmo out there where you can play as werewolves and they aren't very popular with players so I don't see why SE would add them.
Bite your tongue! Worgen are really popular on RP servers. Broody, angsty, and they get the best starting zone in the game...which then gets left empty later....never mind that part! Plus you're your own mount!
SirSniffinButts is offended at your lack of worgen love! As a note, if SE ever does the crazy thing and brings werewolves in, that name is mine.
I wouldn't so much call it fear as much as wanting to not be associated with it. WoW players are frequently derided as being subpar and lacking patience, common sense and restraint. And can you blame others this viewpoint? You see more videos and commentary supporting this than debunking it, like the hilariously infamous raid rage that gave us the wonderful meme, "more dots, more dots, no more dots!"
Well over half of our mechanics are directly influenced by WoW. Especially core design components.
They've become so prominent that people no longer call games that use the setup WoW "killers" or "ripoffs", but rather that they're just following the genre standard.
Honestly, I'm pretty surprised with just how well XIV has done in comparison with other MMOs that have used the "standard" setup.
I like werewolves more than vampires. So yes please.
There's a wolf humanoid in FF6/3, he's a thief.
No need for werewolf.we already have werecat, weregiraffe, weregorilla and werecockroachhamster.
Actually, this might be kinda cool. If it was implemented right. I don't know about adding them as a playable race (though I wouldnt complain if they were), but maybe something like an area plagued by them or something might be cool.
This is Kelger from FFV

He's kinda cool :)
I would like to see them. They came out as regular enemies in earlier games so it'd be cool to see them here even as regular enemies. Would appreciate at least a little bit of lore, or maybe seeing the, with a unique anthropomorphic design. I wanna see vampires too, but with a model similar to FF1 vampire and not Succubus/succubi.
There was only 1 werewolf in FFXI. Haty roamed Konchant Highlands at night during a Full Moon. Then Bendigeit Vran would appear in the same area at night during a New Moon. Both were the same level, same Hp and dropped the same throwing weapon.
When Wings of the Goddess came out they added Gnoles. Part of the lore was based on the fact Gnolles would go from a four legged beast and stand upright on two legs (like behemoths) given specific conditions. They also were affected by the Moon phase, and specific attacks based on how they were standing (four or two legs). The wiki lore said they understood and spoke a broken form of common language and were possibly former Vikings tainted by dark magic.
Werebehemoths.
nuff said.
