Dungeons you'd like to see

FF1: Temple of Chaos(bosses: 4 Arch fiends, also Tiamat could summon Warmachine!, Final Boss: Chaos

FF2: Pandemonium/Jade Passage

FF4: Tower of Babel(might be too similar to Binding Coil of Bahamut), or Mist Cave...fighting a version of Mist Dragon could be fun, mechanic-wise.

FF7: Temple of the Ancients...could have some fun puzzles...also fighting a boss on the God of Time (giant clock bridge with moving hands that knock you off, forcing you to move constantly as you fight while avoiding falling off the hands!)
Boss: Demon Wall, but this time instead of edges on the side, it moves closer to you until it crushed you against the back wall.

FF8: Temple of the Unknown King, could face you against Brothers Minotaur and Sacred

FF9: Inverted Castle. This could be a dungeon where strong is weak and weak is strong like in FF9. Low level weapons are powerful while strong equipment is weak, furthermore, high potency attacks are weaker than lower potency attacks.

FFT: Midlight's Deep. This dungeon would be 100% pitch black, your wouldn't be even able to see your characters except when highlighting them with cursors. For every mob or boss you kill, the dungeon gets incrementally brighter, but it would still be quite dark. There would be traps that when walked on would inflict stacking debuffs just like in FFT (examples: Poison trap/petrify trap, maybe a steel spikes trap that degrades equipment, or traps that reduce built up brightness, making the dungeon darker again). Bosses would be much harder depending on how dark the dungeon still is by the time you reach them(would have stacked buffs, granting them increased stats and haste). Bosses could be difficult FFT mobs like Dark Behemoth, Elder Treants, or maybe groups of Humanoid monsters modeled after FFT characters or classes?

I want to see "Cutters Cry Hard" just to make fun of all the dark knights.

One of my ideas would be mean..beastmen stronghold dungeon runs. At the end? Get tossed into their primals EX!

Anything as long as its an open world dungeon. :X

I would like to see Final Fantasy XI's Tu'lia as a dungeon.

The first area has us fighting through fodder in Ru'Aun Gardens, eventually fighting mini bosses: Mother Globe, Faust, Ullikummi and the rest. The bosses would consist of Seiryu, Suzaku, Byakko and Genbu ultimately leading to Kirin.

The Hard mode version could be a reimagined Divine Might.

FF9's Memoria, with all the original bosses (adapted for FFXIV-style gameplay, of course). Would be amazing as a medium-difficulty 24-man raid.

Castrum X - Recent events in Eorzea have forced the Garleans hands - Engineers have been spotted constructing a new Castrum, presumably for the purposes of observation. This cannot be allowed.

Adventurer's will assault the still uncompleted Castrum, defeating engineers, destroying magitek equipment, and eventually dueling with the base's commander.

All Memoria bosses are based on FF1 bosses. Might as well make an FF chaos dungeon then lol

I'd like to see a raid that's based on Final Fantasy VII
Bosses consist of the game's super bosses Ruby and Emerald, I don't know what the dungeon itself would look like, but I'd love to see those two bosses especially turn up in Final Fantasy XIV.

Memoria looks better though and the entire dungeon completely changes almost every screen. I think it would be a better choice.

I like most of that has been listed.

I'd like to see:

FFVI: An 8-man dungeon that is kind of based off the train. Like a train based raid or something. I dunno. Like it starts in a forest, then you go on the train, it starts running and you go through it. Bosses? I dunno. And the final boss I think should be a part of the train, like the engine or something, instead of running in front of the train itself and suplexing it.

FFVIII: Ultimecia's castle with Griever and/or Ultimecia as the final boss.

FFIX: Ozma trial.

FFX: Something so we can get Seymour's battle theme in the game.

FFXII: The Pharos at Ridorana. Obviously not with the same mechanics and restrictions.

Castrum and Praetorium hard modes just to see the community's reaction
Also a ultimate ex 24 man fight being similar to ffxi where the primals that drop in are adds that need to be handled, not just doing a move and exiting

I 100% support Ipsen's Castle from FFIX! Or even something like Kuja's Desert Palace, where disabling things hidden throughout the dungeon changes what happens in the final boss fight. FFIX had a lot of pretty cool places that could be re-interpreted for dungeon use in FFXIV.

Daguerro could be turned into an adventurer's graveyard with common mobs being zombies of playable jobs and races, while bosses could be inspired by protagonists of the past. Dali could be reworked as some settlement in a new area hiding a dark secret related to main story progression and parties have to explore the dungeon under the town. Chocobo's Air Garden could be a totally chocobo-themed instance with Ozma as a shady boss at the end.

Mostly this is coming from me being really excited we're basically getting Tantarian as a monster in the upcoming library-themed dungeon in 3.0

Something that's not just a fanservice rehash of a dungeon from a previous FF game but something original that fits the game's storyline.

Maybe one of the missing dungeons from FFXIV version 1.0, like the old Mun-tuy Cellars, Nanawa Mines or Cassiopeia Hollow. Hells, open up Carteneau Flats beyond just being the battlefield for Frontlines and actually make it a dungeon.

But as long as it's an original dungeon and not from a past FF game I'll be happy. :)

The whole game is like one big referential theme park to past series entries, though, and I don't think that's going away. Rather than rehashing those things, it'd be great for the dev team to draw inspiration for them and take certain concepts and turn them into something that fits organically into Eorzea.

Also, I've heard that the new 24-man content for Heavensward is going to be something entirely original to FFXIV, so maybe you have that to look forward to?

I would like to see existing dungeons in the open world. each dungeon has an "entrance" in the open world as is, just actually add the already made dungeon on for open world content.

Yes! But I'll 1 up on it. Let's have a dungeon chain with Cavern of Earth, Mount Gulg, Sunken Shrine and Mirage Tower/Flying Fortress, then the Chaos Temple as the final chapter.

Dungeons that require multiple job changes.

I would love to see a lot of the stuff already posted.

My addition would have something a bit different than what we've seen in all of our raids. Example would be

8 man raid that in certain phases you actually split the group and deal with your own mechanics away from the other group. If the healer dies... you won't have another healer around to rez them. This could be incorporated into 24 man raids or if that is too hectic, 12 or 16 man raids.

12 man raid example - you all join in to fight the boss, but then you break up and stand on certain areas and get pulled into your own 4 man section to deal with a boss mechanic. Similar to Cerberus in how you go into the belly. You can do a Primal series with groups being forced into 4 man teams to deal with their own primal. 1 team for Garuda, 1 for Ifrit, and 1 for Titan in the first split, then second split is Ramuh, Leviathan, and Shiva. This could be a 24 man raid as well. Have a HM version and an Extreme mode version. My only caveat is to allow you to fully queue from same server. Making it actually useful to have FC's that raid have more than 8 members.

Anything different from the current formula of
speed-run to mini-boss
speed-run to mini-boss
speed-run zerg rush final boss

Abandoned Midgard would be cool. Go through all the sectors with one a final boss in each one.

I like that idea with the brothers from FF8.

Yes please, I'd like to try to heal and tank it. I would like to see other mechanics that will make it special, such as a pad that require a player to stand on.

I can see Aurum Vale HARD has has 3 boss rooms for the same boss, the boss runs away after each battle 'till we reach the boss' liar.

While in Cutter's Cry HARD I can see a tree branched dungeon we chose a single path that leads to different mini boss and a different final boss. So we can only choose 3 out of 5, that would be interesting and we'll be voting which route to take.

Something without set (but still distinct) paths that give tactical significance to where the part hits first, second, etc. without giving many opportunities to rethink their decision once started--a rush of a mission, more than the likeness of an open-world dungeon--preferably with some platforming elements that, in combination with the trash, can be as difficult as or even act as boss fights, most likely in the outskirts or ruins of some imperial structure with fewer obligatory walls and useless courtyards (or else just similarly tech-heavy in a style anywhere between FF6 and FF8).

Also, trains should be involved.

I don't particularly mind speedrunning, especially if it's not done in the same manner or for the same reasons as our typical "speedrunning". I'd rather be running FROM something than merely cutting down time.

Edit: I also really like the abandoned Midgar idea (see 3 posts above), especially if it could have some sort of mini-hubs inside (at the most extreme, maybe something like an automaton-run bar that could act as a Sanctuary in which to change jobs, cash dungeon items for specific buffing drinks or combined consumables, or even see other instances' parties) and random generation, placing certain familiar sub-zones in different locations and with different paths to them. You only get as much revealed map as you've discovered.

Appart from getting to fight the Phantom Train and an army of vampires (don't mention Haukke Manor) I want a dungeon with the primals as bosses.
Something like this:
You approach a castle. The drawbridge lowers and Odin rides forth to greet you. Once he is killed you go inside,but first kill Leviathan who attacks you on the drawbridge. Or, from under the drawbridge. Once you finally go inside you come across a huge hall with rows of columns. Garuda fight incomming. Now ascend the spiraling staircase to the top and be prepaired to face Titan.

Something with the same kind of set up as DCUOs Paradox Wave. Where you could fight the side bosses on their own, or leave some or all of them up to fight with the main boss. Minus the irritating graphics they had with that though.

I also would like to see some kind of open world dungeon. Not sure how you could make it work though, loot distribution and revelance wise.

Cool original dungeons, don't need more stuff from previous games shoved into 14, they'd have to make lore reasons for why they exist in the world and it would get ridiculous over time. Designs inspired by stuff from older games would be more acceptable, midgard for example would probably be a heavy influence for garlemalds capitol if we ever see it in game.

You know what I want?

A 72 man raid called "Siege of Ala Mihgo". And make it sort of like a multi-lane version of Steps of Faith where you're defending your starting point and pushing superbosses back with a full alliance each, switching parties around as necessary. Make the bosses advance slowly so you don't have time to really relax and things like being killed and running back are more detrimental. Just suuuuper hectic with 9 full parties worth of dudes fighting huge Garlean ultratanks that fire rockets which in turn fire smaller rockets.

Awwww yeah.

Something that incorporates DOL and DOH, as well as DOW. Basically, the DOW work to protect the DOL and DOH from mobs, while DOL gather mats for the DOH to craft into something that is needed for the dungeon. Perhaps it could be a type of wave defense situation, where the goal is to build a fort of a certain strength in time for a final boss?

Also want a Chocobo themed dungeon. Upon entering the dungeon, all four players are given a special type of green that summons their chocos indefinitely. If the choco goes down, it will need to be raised. Defeating mobs/bosses or finding special items will buff the birds, making it more difficult for the mobs to kill them. Choco xp and special bardings would be the reward.

Trials:
- Fenrir (Extreme)
- Siren (Extreme)
- Catoplebas (Extreme)
- Ferdiad (Extreme)
- Diabolos (Extreme)

Dungeons:
- The Primal Aether - I would love to have an epic dungeon containing nearly all of the elemental primals one after another (or even two at the same time, a la Ifrit and Shiva in FFVI), even if it was a Minstrel's Ballad.
