Yeah no kidding...I mean events and content doesn't matter...it has to be the shadows!!!

no, friend...you're the troll around here, it can't be the other way around.
...Stop...please.
I apologize, Gramul...
I was always rather reluctant to do leves. I always found them so boring and contrived. THe leve system is one thing I don't particularly miss from the old development team and I am quite 'good riddance' about the whole thing.
I understand they have not gone anywhere, but am pleased that for the future they won't be rearing their ugly head quite so notoriously. That the leve system was positioned as an integral part to FFXIV's questing system was perhaps one reason for its ultimate downfall as an MMO with a sense of adventure. A repeatable questing system just cannot provide that.
Leves brought people together, but they were so repetitive and boring. I dont think people play a game to be bored. They were just a means to an end.
Perhaps if they had been more enjoyable, then I would lament their passing, and perhaps there is still hope for an elusive "fun guildleve" but I doubt it.
Yes I couldn't agree more. I did do many of them in the beginning due to the structure of the game, and as we moved into the leve-linking phase, I started on a regular leve schedule with some friends. This ultimately burned me out completely on them.
I did my first one the other day, since January with an old friend. The goal of the leve was to follow around some dragon and not get caught by the dragon. He rage quit the game after we finished.
I love them and my gameplay revolves around them. I'm glad Yoshi-P is considering letting us save them up. Today I hadn't been on in a couple of days or so and I was able to do several of them all in a row. To me it's lots of fun. :)
That is good that they are available for folks that enjoy them. I just never was able to find that joy. I do wonder what the game would have turned into if they had kept the leve system as a focal point and really fleshed it out. I could have seen it going in more of a guild wars direction-not a direction I would have desired but definitely a direction that proves to be fun at times.
Hellgate London reminds me a lot of the leve system, but for some reason I think its mad fun, and I am not a fan of shooters.
Makes me think leve's could have been more if fleshed out better, but as it stands I just can't bear them.
I am happy they are being deprecated.
I think they are good to keep around but i do agree it was foolish to have them as the game's centerpiece. They are a great source of SP for solo players. I've been doing them since day one and still do all 16 every single reset. Locals are the only time i ever do crafting, lol. I like being able to get on during the week after work and get some quick SP off them. They are kind of the only reason i keep loging in though, i don't do much of anything else in game these days. I feel like i will get behind or have lost out if i don't do them.
I'm glad they will be allowing you to stockpile them, but once that is in effect there is going to need to be some other content added that will make me want to log in more than 2-3 days out of the week.
When I first heard about guild leves and the game revolving around them I pretty much compared them to FF11's assault missions and was overjoyed since I loved those. I really like leves themselves and the system as a whole because it makes even a small amount of playtime rewarding, but we haven't had any new ones since the game launched, so they feel a bit stale. Personally once we get more raids of different level ranges I would probably prefer xping in them.
Hopefully the Company leves are plentiful and offer a lot of varieties of objectives.
I played Deus Ex HR the other day. Instead of kicking arse with augmented superhuman abilities I'm supposed to hide behind box and crawl through air vents. I rage quit the game after I finished the mission.
If you are playing a Stealth approach game/mini-game and you expect to run gun ablazing, lolwut.
Yeah, that stealth-dragon leve actually sounded much more involving than your garden variety zerg mobs levequest.
I love leves to, without them this game would be completly dead, more so than now. Their the only thing that has kept the game going and the players logging back on. Busiest time on the game is when there is a guild leve reset. If you havent noticed this then open your eyes.
I think the biggest complaint was that there was no content, not that people couldn't rank up.
Guildleves or party grind, it's still boring. And FFXIV's combat system does not make it very enjoyable by either option.
I still do leves. I find they're a decent SP boost for the amount of time you spend on them. I'm ranking up Marauder on the side so I just do leves for two camps, 1*. Generally I can get around 30k per reset just doing leves which isn't bad at all.
The system exists to allow those who either don't have groups or don't have a lot of time to spend on a given day to still progress at a decent rate.
Though for those who really want to level quickly, party grinds are really the way to go (and will be further enhanced in 1.19). I'm not a big fan of running around a small area killing the same things over and over for hours on end but hey, the system is there for those who enjoy it.
