Who will still use the ferry once airships come out?

The ferry doesnt land in ul'dah.

Once they implement content on it, Im sure players will use it.

I don't even use the ferry now.

But what happens if you are the very poor in anima?

Depends on the cost of the airship and where I intend to go. If I'm in Limsa but need to go to Horizon, I'll just take the boat as it's free and lands closer to my destination. If I'm going to Ul'dah however I'll probably take the airship, again depending on the fee.

well i guess it would depend on circumstance. I will still probably use it from time to time, I am a miser with my gill and the ferry is free.

I probably won't even use airships when I'm in cities. With two alts I've got pretty much unlimited anima anyway. Of course when the game goes pay to play I will have to cancel that other account and start using public transport.

I'll still use the Ferries, Along with the Airships and Chocobos. You have to mix things up a bit, otherwise it would get old after a while.

The only reason to go on the ferry in FFXI was the unique fish you could find there and the occasional pirate/kraken thing.

Players still used the ferry in XI. So it may get less use, but I'm sure it will still be used.

People mainly don't use the ferry now because of the way you can teleport players to places they haven't been to.

They should change the anima teleport thing so that if you haven't been to that node, you can't get warped there.
IE I've brought new friends to ffxiv and I teleported them to all the key locations so they've never even seen the boat.

The airship is probably going to have level requirements or a quest or something. IE FFXI you had to be Rank 5 or have 500,000 gil.

People use the ferry now?

If I am riding my Chocobo out that way and happen to want to go to LL then I will take ferry. But if I'm in LL I will just take the airship.

Airships will probably be quest locked.
The ferry will probably gain other destinations without Airports.
Fishing may be added.
Dynamic events may be added.
NPC shops may be added.
It is also free.
But you are right, nobody.

All the people that are mad that airships are too fast and you can't run aground on them

^This. I rarely use the ferry. The only thing that would make me use the ferry would be the ability to fish up monsters or better fishing content than R1... I mean being as your on a boat crossing deeper ocean depths you should have a completely unique set of fish that can ONLY be caught on the ferry imo.

Something along the lines of...

A ferry in every Major Zone (La Noscea, Thanalan, Black Shroud, Mor Dhona, Coerthas). My thoughts on this is you would go to a dock area in the region and talk to the Ferrymaster. At this point they would offer you the chance to go on a regional 'cruise' down rivers, out into the ocean, on lakes.. You know a different area based on region. There would be a small fee and you could choose length of trip. Basically you would then be sailed down the instance.

I am thinking 100gil per 10 minutes. There would be the option of 10, 30, 60 minute fishing trips. Each of these ferries would have 8 fish types total. 6 Fish from other areas and 2 exclusive to fishing off that specific regional ferry. Each time a new zone is added a new fish would be added.

Who uses the ferry now?

I only use it when I'm doing stuff around Horizon and have to go to Limsa to pick up local leves/extra regional leves. It's also an opportunity for a snack/bathroom break.
