Why do you think its time to change servers? Too congested? Not congested enough? tired of seeing the same people over and over? friends on a different server?
I switched from Faerie to Exodus for two reasons. 1) DF wait times on Faerie (and its respective data center) where usually over 30 mins for DPS)(So not congested enough) and 2) friends on a different server.
Come to Balmung!

Less RMT's here lol. But I am curious why you wanna leave if it seems like you are having a good time..
Doesn't mean less RMT, just means they don't have to advertise as much
I have an alt on that server and I see bots EVERYWHERE.
How bout go to a server that isn't always locked and spread the population around?
Go to Brynhildr, thats where i'm heading soon. :)
Brynhildrs a great server with a decent population and a small community feel. We don't have a very big raiding community: Only one hardcore raiding FC, a few semi serious raiding FC's and around 10 raid teams farming T13. You won't generally see anything past T10, 11 in PF. From what I understand though our markets are quite good, and things are busier than they are on Lamia.
Funny, because the complaints of tells and are usually on different servers.
It's rarely ever on the 24/7 locked ones. Balmung has been on near complete lockdown since the start and it's not because of bots.
The most we get is a tell and now and then, and I went months without any...I get about 3 max a day and I've been on this server
for a year. The main problem we would get is bots, but that's nothing in compared to people getting riddled with /tell's every 2 seconds.
If anything, I'd pick the lesser of two evils and take the bots as oppose to the other.
Which creates a problem for legit players wanting to join.
OP; Please don't consider Balmung as the server is full to the brim and new people seem to transfer in all the time and it only makes the problem worse for those who are just starting out in the game and want to create their first character ever on Balmung.
Lamia has a ton of RMT spam. The DF times from what I've experienced at 31BLM are on average 20-30min. I don't know about high levels, some of them will have to chime in. We're pretty populated though.
Oh I see, I didnt know we were talking specifically about /tells. The way you claim there is less RMT confused me I guess. But you are in denial if you think its locked because there are THAT many new players making characters there. If we are picking evils I choose /tells over knowing most of the server is willing to cheat, buy runs, and gil. Its why I chose to not play on balmung.
This is good advice considering you have little to no chance of getting a house if thats a goal, and far less chance of finding help from the general population with the pf chock full of run sellers.
I'm new to balmung so i'm not going to defend them, however gil buying, and buying clears is not a "balmung" problem. It's on most NA servers. Even the small ones. So you can't avoid that. There is no way to actually tell who is buying gil and who is, it's simply something we the players can't figure out since the MB is done through a third party aka retainers. So stop throwing stones at my new server lol.
They are making Balmung look horrible for no reason. I only say Balmung because it's an incredibly full and friendly server.
I've yet to meet anyone mean, at all, just by the server itself. You always have lots PF's going and I'm making a lot of friends.
People randomly ask if anyone needs a hunt done, responses when FATE's popped up, ask if anyone needs PT in FATE's and a
whole bunch of stuff, and I see Casino player made things going. Could be done in any other..
I can only speak for Levithan and Balmung and I switched back forth for each, twice and loved Balmung ever since.
Come to Sarg. Add me as a friend when you get set up.
I'm not saying Balmung is a bad server and I'm in no way shaming it. I'm saying we DO NOT need more people transferring over to Balmung because of how much it's bursting at the seams with people transferring in when they think it's an okay thing to do when it's NOT.
You're blocking legit new players from being able to create characters to play with the friends who recommended/freshly recruited them to play the game with them.
You're causing the demand for housing to rise, making people who purchased a lot of plots at the start to sell their homes to gouge the community of 25+ mil for a small.
You're causing FC's to raise their prices on Coil/Primal sales(Which I don't like selling content in the first place), thus making 5-10 mil seem like chump change.
I know I've been a pro-activist for asking for more housing wards, but I'm not spending 25+ mil for a small house. I will gladly wait for them to add more wards than spend every bit of my hard earned gil on a house.
So yes, I love Balmung as it is my original server from beta. But No, please DO NOT transfer to Balmung because you will only make things worse for those of us who have been on Balmung from the start.
Come to bryn, we have cake! :o Joking aside, the entire server itself is generally friendly, and as one poster mentioned we're not too gung ho about raiding, but the one serious raiding fc we do have gets the job done. But, you'll find just about everything here without feeling very pressured into doing anything, the market board prices aren't as ridiculous either. >.>
Edit: And after reading the above posts now, I can say that whenever I'm online I really don't see coil/primal sales going on, we're just focused on clearing them. I remember seeing in a chat last week a small house going for 7mil, though I have no idea if that's low.
Well, I'm on Brynhildr and my brother's on Lamia. Brynhildr has a quite social community (Love Lala peops and RP buddies!) and you can find all sorts of people to suit your idea of a good social group... I don't know too much about Lamia, except my brother is an end game raider there and the economy is more inflated than Bryn (aka Housing on Lamia is a higher tier of cost than Brynhildr because more money goes around on Lamia, the Brynhildr economy is more modest) I mean, I had 2.5 million when housing came out and I haven't seen that much since on Bryn and I am sad that I can't afford a lot, but I just need to work on crafting/gathering more. My brother on Lamia sits at 7million and just shrugs it off.
