(2.x End SPOILERS) That's about seven shades of fouled up...

Well, that might've just been the biggest "OH SH..." moment in the history of Final Fantasy since SPOILAR Aeris Dies!

But:

1) Ul'dah is now an enemy state, and the Eorzean Alliance now must be dissolved.

If the Monetarists actually believed Raubahn was in with the Scions in regicide, then they must conclude that Kan-E-Senna and Merlwyb also are in league with the Scions.

Are we, then, effectively headed to war in 3.0, between the states of Eorzea?

With Ul'Dah now allied with the Dravinians/Garleans?

2) Why are we allowed to set foot back in Ul'Dah? And what of the Immortal Flames? We're going to need a new Grand Company in 3.0.

3) Why would the Crystal Braves not kill Alphinaud upon the exposition of their treachery?

4) Same with the Monetarists/Braves (esp. Ilberd) and Raubahn.

5) The Seventh Astral Era is over, and the Eighth Umbral Era has begun, correct?

6) And is Revenant's Toll now hostile territory, with the Garleans just to the west??

We are still in the 7th Umbral Era I believe ^^

We're in the Seventh Astral Era now, the new era was declared after we took out Gaius and Ultima.

Umbral era's only begin when there has been a gigantic catastrophy, usually.

1) Ul'dah sees us and the scions as criminals. The Monetarists are using the law against us by framing us. Likewise Raubahn. If he hadn't attacked Teleji likely they would have been hard pressed to lock him up since he at that point hadn't done anything illegal. He would have been discredited but they couldn't remove him so easily. Because the GCs didn't get involved they kept themselves clear of anything that would paint them guilty of anything. The Monetarists aren't going to start making wild accusations against foreign powers without some actual proof. That would undermine their own credibility.

The Eorzean Alliance still exists, at least on paper. If it collapse we would likely be facing an imminent attack from Garlamald who would seek to take advantage of the discord. I don't think the Monetarists want that.

2) The WoL can enter Ul'dah simply because their reputation with the people has many doubting the accusations. It smells off. If we had fought back it might be different. As for why guards don't pull us up, the logical reason is either they don't recognise us, they recognise us and chose to look the other way cause the don't believe the charges or they recognise us and chose to look the other way cause they are terrified of actually trying to fight a legend.

The Immortal Flames still exist. While Raubahn commited a crime, that falls on his soldiers, not the GC. Fortunately for the Immortal Flames, Pipin just arrived back in the city and that gives them a leader to take command. The Monetarists have no legal grounds to move against Pipin and still need the military strength of the Immortal Flames to help hold the borders against potential incursions by Garlamald and the Beast tribes.

3) Alphinaud is a very valuable hostage. His family is important in his homeland. His murder would be hard to explain away. As a locked away prisoner he can be used. As a corpse he becomes something that has to be explained.

4) Raubahn is a great fall guy. I think the Monetarists are being careful to appear to be working within the law. Raubahn is someone they can paint as a foreigner (he was originally an Ala Mhigan refugee) who weaselled his way into power to try and seize the throne. I wouldn't be surprised if they paint Raubahn involved in Nanamo's assassination. Do remember that Raubahn's right hand just recently turned out to be a Garlean spy.

5) I think they called the Seventh Astral Era a bit early but technically its still supposed to be that.

6) Revenant's Toll is mainly held by the Adventurer's guild and only Ishgard really has a claim to sovereignty over it. Ishgard is happy enough to leave it as is though since it secures their southern border. The Crystal Braves however have free reign of the town and while the Adventurer's guild might chose to look the other way to aid us when we visit the town, they can't actively support us while we are fugitives accused of regicide. Kind of like Gridania and Limsa.

The end of the umbral eras are mostly chose by the leaders of the city states, and they chose the defeat of Gaius as the end of it, although if you consider the 7th Umbral Era as the time where Bahamut threatens the land it ends when you complete the Coil.

The only one who accused Raubahn of regicide was Lolorito (and not publicly) and that was after he sliced and diced that rotten popoto, Teledji, in two. Though every guild leader within Ul'dah is on our side so they most likely pay off/threaten any Brass Blades/Crystal Braves that try to arrest us. Or they are simply too scared to try and arrest the Warrior of Light: Slayer of Primals, Ultima Weapon and also killed a few high-ranking Garlean Generals.

3. Actually did they ever say how Alphinaud escaped? Them not killing him isn't surprising Teledji seemed to want all the Scions and WoL alive. For some reason that hasn't been explained Teledji wanted all the Scions (presumably) alive but that plan fell apart after he fell apart.

4. They need Raubahn alive for some reason. Why? Not explained.

5. The 8th Umbral Era began after Cartenueu/Dalamud's fall 5-6 years prior to 2.0's start. The Grand Company leaders declared after Operation Archon that we are in the 8th Astral Era (but that's all PR).

6. Even though the Crystal Braves are in Mor Dhona I doubt they have much control. 99% of Revenant's Toll's Population is adventurers who if they do know us know we didn't do it or at least aren't stupid enough to try and take us on. Rowena probably has the most influence over the whole area. And do you think Rowena is gonna betray her Allagan Cash Cow?

For these two points, you can actually talk to a Crystal Brave sitting in Mor Dhona. He's scared witless to even see us there. Most people aren't likely to come after the WoL without a large party to support them (like what happened within Ul'dah).

Also trying to arrest you in Ul'Dah would cause a civil war between the GC and the brass blades, in Mor Dhona they'd get their throat cut by a ninja before even touching you.

another thing, and correct me if im wrong but, most people dont actually know what happened they just think the sultana is ill not dead, so out right declaring what we did to the public would cause an uprising. They most likely think we are only wanted for treason and plotting with garleans or some such.

It's possible that Lolo is in bed with the Garleans though, could also be Ascians.... Since it's always Ascians. Ilberd might actually be an Ascian for all we know, that dude seemed awfully juiced.

I hope there are no ascians involved in Lolorito's plan, sick of the bad guys manipulated by the ascians, one true bad guy doesn't need a puppeter !

There's also the brass blade is just in front of the Flames GC, he says he has to arrest Scions, but is confused why they would arrest the saviors of the country. So not all Brass Blades are corrupt, like the little lalacaptain at Horizon. He fought his ex captain who was corrupt during the Uldah pre 15 storyline.

There won't be a "civil" war within Eorzea; that's entirely why Merlwyb and Kan-E-Senna left when they did. If they had stayed they may have intervened in Ul'dahn politics, and that would lead to a "civil" war within Eorzea.

The Monetarists never believed the Scions were responsible for Nanamo's death; they simply framed them to use them as scapegoats. Not only would this shift blame off themselves, but it would also remove the Scions from the picture, when they've been a thorn in the Monetarists' side for quite some time. Same for Raubahn.

Ul'dah is not allied with the Dravanians or Garleans; the Monetarists, or really just Lolorito at this point, are simply out for power. The point wasn't to destroy the Alliance but to consolidate power within Ul'dah and pave the way for Omega's excavation.

From a legal standpoint, we're enemies of the state, but if you talk to NPCs they either have heard only vague rumors or refuse to believe you're responsible. Talking to Commander Swift has him tell you they're withholding information on the incident, so it's not surprising.

The Flames will probably be led by Marshal Tarupin while Raubahn's in prison.

Killing Alphinaud would not advance their mastermind's goals, since he has no political power or authority in Ul'dah. There's simply no reason to kill him; if he's imprisoned he can no longer meddle with their plans, so that's enough. Having the Scions framed for Nanamo's murder is enough to give them grounds to detain / imprison them all; why risk the civil war?

One death is an unfortunate "accident." Two and people will start to get suspicious. Three and they'll know something's wrong. While killing the Scions and Raubahn makes logical sense, it could have pushed the tension in Ul'dah past the breaking point and sparked civil war.

From a legal standpoint, much like Ul'dah yes, Revenant's Toll is now hostile. However talking to the NPCs shows that like in Ul'dah they either don't believe you're responsible for Nanamo's death or have heard only vague rumors. Or, like the Crystal Brave in front of the market, are about to pee their pants at the sight of you.

nope. Monetarists just used us as a scapegoat to kill nanamo. Had Raubahn not moved, he would have been free to go. Though relations with Gridania and Limsa will be hard for a long time.

Pipin removed us from the "Wanted criminals" list. Also, the word hasn't spread that Nanamo was killed. For all the Ul'dahns know, she's badly sick. The people still see us as the WoL who saved the day.
The IF are just in need of a leader, all the rest is left untouched.

I don't think that's entirely true. I'm fairly convinced Lolorito set up everything; Teledji really was innocent, but because he has such a love for gloating, Lolorito used that and Raubahn's long-simmering rage to his advantage to get Teledji taken out of the picture. This gets Teledji and Raubahn out of the picture, leaving Lolorito as the (seeming) sole authority figure in Ul'dah.

So he gets everything, and we were all just puppets in his game. Nanamo, Raubahn, Teledji, the Crystal Braves, the Brass Blades, and you... all just devices for him to use to usurp power in Ul'dah.

I did read a theory that Gaius never died and is actually Ilberd. I thought it was a bit out there until the fight. The way Ilberd fights is very reminiscent of Gaius.

I honestly think Gaius lived and is biding his time to show back up when we least expect it (As all great villains do). Me personally, I think Gaius wound up as Lahabrea's new host. We kicked him out of Thancred's body, then blew up the Pretorium and Ultima with it, and Gaius' body was just ripe for the picking since he needed a new vessel any way. And before the "Body type" thing comes up, lets not forget that we have never seen Gaius with out armor. We don't even know what his face looks like let alone the rest of him so how would we know even if we did unmask Lahabrea again?

As far as the other two leaders, if anyone thinks they aren't in league with the Scions, they aren't paying attention.

2) Martial law. Anyone who doesn't move on the WoL probably dies at the hands of the Monetarists.

4) I don't know which is the bigger mistake: The Crystal Braves not killing Alphinaud (as the WoL's one remaining ally) or Ilberd not executing Raubahn.

6) Rowena is fleeing to Ishgard in 3.0.

I don't think teledji's death was within lolorito's plan, if you think it this way, which way is easier to control a city, by yourself and doing all shady things at the eyes of everyone, or in the shadows while you puppeteer the current ruler.most likely lolorito wanted teledji as the ruler so he could control everything in the shadows without drawing that much attention to him, and if something goes sour teledji would be the 1st to pay.

As for Ilberds power well he says he's been sharpening his "fangs" every since ala mihgo but meanwhile Raubahn got weaker by just playing politics, and yeah that might be true he might have gotten a little bit weaker. Plus emotion inestability in a battle = you are most likely to lose it.

Also for Alphinauds case his sister sent help having a bad feeling about the situation so he got saved by some gaurds from his family. plus with him dead that would make all of Sharlayan angry at uldah too as they are the most influential family there.

The only thing which MIGHT indicate that is his apparent disgust at the handmaiden's declaration that all was set in motion according to his plan.

Otherwise, it really would not make sense, especially if Lolorito is making a play for something much bigger.

As for a civil war in ul'dah would be the worst outcome for the monetarists because it becomes unpredictable, and they lose more money than what they win, even if they won, the place would be in chaos for a while giving them a lot of problem in making money.

That can be very possible, garlean paying off some/most monetarists isn't as far-fetched plan as it seems to be. Considering that it is a mostly merchant city you can strategically buy some monetarists to weaken/corrupt the city thus weakening the alliance making it easier to conquer the continent, although it is more of a long term plan, making it too fast can easily break it down.

1. The Garleans could do that. It isn't the first time they've done that either (i.e.: take over a city state from the inside). See: Ali Mhigo. I doubt that's actually happening because the last Garlean force within Eorzea was the Gaius's men and they were not receiving any support from Garlemald for 5+ years. It seems for the most part Garlemald gave up on Eorzea for a while.

If they were trying to pay off Monetarists to bring Ul'dah down they'd need to pay off more then one for it to work and neither has been currently shown to be explicitly working with the Garleans (though someone mentioned that 1.0 it was said Lolorito did trade with Garleans. I haven't been able to check if that's true or not so take it with a grain of salt.)

Teledji literally accused Minfilia in that cutscene of using dark magic to control the minds of the Grand Company leaders (and Aymeric) to get her way. Teledji's not completely stupid, just mostly stupid, and he knows if he tried to implicate either GC leader he'd be in a whole world of troubles because he can keep his fellow Ul'dahn's away from the corpse of Nanamo but no way would two GC leaders allow him to just blindly accuse them.

2. There is nothing mentioned in the game to say Martial Law has been enacted over this and furthermore the Brass Blades are a mostly sellsword force meaning there is no way they'd risk dying to the WoL just so they won't die to the Monetarists. Especially over alleged crimes that have not been fully detailed to them.

And applying martial law to the guilds in Ul'dah would only lead to instability and revolt from the people.

4. Alphinaud isn't our only ally. We have two prominent Ishgardian noble houses, Aymeric, and two other Citystates on our side after all (and if you leveled them up to 15 different separate guilds on your side). And we are almost buddy-buddy with Ishgard.

I can see them not wanting to kill us/scions because they wanted to have a public trial to completely defame us to prevent an uproar. The same applies to Raubahn too. Publicly announce he murdered Teledji so the smallfolk don't riot in response to his death.

Those are not true tho. If they are so scared of us, they wouldn't chase us so far in the beginning. And I bet we gonna fight lots of them in 3.0 story anyway, so basically, they never scare us, and they will fight us, but they leave us alone when it is not part of the story simply because it is a game!

If the Monetarists / Lolorito wanted a civil war they'd have sparked it. Ul'dah is a powder keg ready to blow; the only reason it hasn't descended into civil war is because information on the incident is being withheld. If they wanted civil war they would have it; but wars are expensive, and as the name Monetarist would suggest one of their main goals is to accumulate wealth.

The idea was to have you framed for Nanamo's murder, the Scions detained as accomplices by association, and get Raubahn to kill Teledji, giving Lolorito grounds to imprison him. This would leave Lolorito as the sole authority figure in Ul'dah and, with the Crystal Braves in his pocket, give him free reign to excavate Omega. Garlemald has nothing to do with the current dealings in Ul'dah, at least as far as we know.

I think the Monetarists are out for themselves. Omega could be just as easily used against the Garleans as anyone else. If the the Monetarists get Omega they can use it the same way the Garleans used Ultima. Do remember that Omega was a weapon made to take out Bahamut. Hes the strongest primal we have seen in game so far. Titan, Garuda and Ifrit are wimps in comparison. That's an immense amount of power.

There is no sign of war between the city states. Infact from the NPCs in Ul'dah we can see the Monetarists are focused on consolidating their control of Ul'dah but they don't control the Immortal Flames who are still a standing army in Ul'dah. The Monetarists end game is something more subtle than a simple war.

Note that the Monetarists have gone out of their way to appear to stay within the Law. Nothing they have done hasn't been involved in using the law to support their actions. Even Raubahn's arrest is justified under the law as he commited an assassination.

I don't think the Dravanians are working with the Monetarists. They have their own thing going. If there is a connection it is likely linked to Ascian machinations. The Dravanians are just going to be simple badguys in Heavensward. There is more to that story to play out. Do remember the leader of Ishgard is under the influence of Ascians as well.

There dialog suggest fear. There is a difference of being the guy who on his own faces the Warrior of Light when he can just pretend he didn't notice us and being the guy who has been directly ordered to go against the WoL and who has a full group of soldiers backing him up.

The Dark Magicks the Teledji was referring to was most likely the Echo. I think it was said that those with the echo were fear and shunned for their powers, which was was Minfilia created the organization to not only learn more about the Echo, but to use it.
