It is normal leading up to an expansion that we start looking excitedly towards what we will gain in the game, all the new stuff that will become available to us, but after seeing how a certain really big MMO has handled expansions in the past, most notably its most recent one I just have to ask - what will be removed from the game with Heavensward?
Will the Beast Tribe quests remain in place, so we can farm those mounts and minions?
Will the story in Coil be considered over and done with, with the raids removed to keep the current T13 farmers feeling special for being able to clear it when no one else could?
Will our achievements, particularly the ones building towards rewards like titles and minions, be reset or removed?
Will Triple Triad be expanded, or left as it is today? It's sufficiently new that I don't think it will be removed yet.
Will the (Augmented) Ironworks gear remain available? Will we be able to farm Poetics as an old currency to obtain it?
What of the current Relic quests - and relics, for that matter? Will they remain for people to go back and farm?
The old job-specific gear looks, ie. the i90 gear; will that still be farmable?
Does anyone know with certainty, not just a gut feeling that "They would never remove that!" whether these things will stay or be removed? Anything else I might have missed?
What will we lose?

I doubt SE would remove these features without warning the players. They will change its easier to complete these features, but I doubt a removal.

Everything you have listed will not be removed, but either nerfed to ease completion or expanded upon so that players can continue to enjoy said content.

I've posed the question before if they will add new levels to achievements, like gathering X amount of times in L51-60 zones to take an obvious example but also killing 200.000 mobs and so on...
If they reset the existing achievements then I am quitting. I've worked way too hard on those because in my mind levels and achievements are for ever, gear is for 3 months. -

Why would achievement data ever be reset? Otherwise what's the point of an achievement?? If anything they'll add onto it. For example Gather X so many times in "insert zone or region name here". But I highly doubt they'd reset this.
Now that being said, Ironworks gear and what not will remain viable for a short while Im sure. But nothing stays the same for ever. In fact, the pieces of gear will likely be moved to some other kind of content like we saw with the i90 sets, but I doubt it'd disappear entirely. It would not surprise me if Soldiery and poetic gear became drops in high level and expert dungeons. -

I think the biggest concern of yours, that storyline will be taken out, is easily addressed by the fact that they're keeping the completion of 2.x storyline a requirement to progress into 3.x. WoW, on the other hand, has taken a stance on storyline closer to "If you're here for it, you get to see it. If you get to it later, you'll have missed it" and they've been like that for a very very long time, not just this expansion.Quote:

hint... despite the fact that this game is amazing, not every will necessarily get Heavensward and they will still need content to do. Odds are no none of the current content will go away. Soldiery and Poetics will probably still exist for people without heavensward (at least for a bit in all likelihood)

The BC expansion of WoW was removed because the most recent expansion retcons what happens in said BC expansion. It was removed entirely for the sake of the games ongoing story. I may have come off a bit strong, I'm not defending WoW, I quit after Cata released as well. I was just pointing out that the OP may not know what exactly they were trying to say with that statement about WoW. Either way I don't think SE will remove any content simply because there wouldn't be a reason to, older MMOs with multiple expansions have all kept their old content.

Uh, when did WOW remove anything? Warlords takes place in an alternate timeline, everything in Burning Crusade is still there. All it means is that the timeline for a specific character gets increasingly anachronistic as they progress through different expansions, apart from the legendary quest in Mists they've not removed anything since Cataclysm revamped all the old world zones.
