Does ayone feel Item Comparison should have color indicators?

Like, red for an attribute that goes down, green for one that goes up, compared to what you're wearing?

I mean, OK, that happens today with defense and strength, but let's face it, that's the LEAST important of things we analyze when changing gear. Call my a lazy arse, but I wanted to be able to check improvements on an item related to what I'm wearing in a quick glance, specially if I'm browsing the MB for stuff. And being able to check secondary attributes differences quickly is something most games have visual aids.

What happened with the up and down arrows we have known to love in every Final Fantasy game? {can I have it?}

It would definitely be a QoL thing. I don't see the harm and while they're at it, they should allow us to compare equipment when we are stuck in that weird end of cutscene quest reward limbo where you can't open your Character Sheet or Inventory.

I'll throw this out here as well. Instead of having to right-click and choose Compare, it would be nice to also have the ability to map it to a key modifier like shift. If I hold shift down and hover over a piece of equipment it will immediately show the comparison popup.

It's still there - just for defense and magic defense. It would be strange to have the display for the secondaries where some equipment has it, but not on some other equipment - yet not so much strange when it comes to primaries. I wouldn't mind a display, but I wouldn't say it would be of high priority.

If the gear you're wearing has 40 Crit and no spell speed, and the other has 40 spell speed and no crit, the item comparison could show, in the gear you're checking, a red text on the Critical with a (-40) beside, and a green text on spell speed, with a (+40) beside. It's quite simple actually.

I just said it would be strange (the good kind). I didn't say it would be terribly difficult to imagine. I probably phrased it wrongly. Apologies for that.

It's a simple change, but would make comparing items at a glance so much easier. If they don't want to clog up the tooltips, just make it something that only shows when you hold a modifier key (eg. shift+mouseover to show extended stat comparisons).

The problem is, stat-weights will always be under debate. Because the devs don't tell us what the stats actually do! So we use convoluted methods of mathematical witchcraft to try to guesstimate what stats are favored over others.
But in the end, only Weapon Damage, Defense, Magic Defense, and the "prime stat" have any major bearing on our actual power. The rest of the stats have fairly minor impacts.

Weapon Damage, Defense, and Magic Defense are clearly shown with different color indicators. The prime stat is not indicated comparatively because it's usually tied to ilvl, and different gear in the same ilvl should have the same amount of the prime stat.
These are probably the reasons why they're not shown.

I don't think it would hurt to overhaul the UI and make changes like what you asked for, though. I mean, the "Item Comparison" was a nice feature they added, but it was just a small step in the right direction and they could have done a lot more.

The thing is a year ago people asked for this and SE finally caved and said "ok ok it's in the way" and then... this. . Is what we got.
