Red lotus, a discontinued Gladiator skill from 1.0, was fire element, but npcs still use this ability.
So... probably not. Most likely not infact.
Replace HB into the spoiler tag for it to work. Stupid, I know lol. He could be though, I'd like a DPS that uses a sword and is not a tank.
It's the same thing I thought. I prefer to call him Mystic Knight than a Rune Knight/Fencer though lol. Really hope that class comes out in the future-it's my favorite class.
He has Cutscene Power Maximum, an ability that lets him pull abilities out of his keister to match the situation.
Raubahn has the same ability, but it's called "Ionioi Hetairoi"
If you get the reference, you get a cookie.
Not all NPCs are given a precise job. As a matter of fact, most bosses aren't.
Raubhan does not have a job or class (he fights with two swords, so he's no Gladiator, and he's certainly no Rogue), so why would Ilberd have one?
Speculation is fun and all, but calling "confirmed" out of any of this is a bit ridiculous, especially for jobs.
would be fun but ..
I'm leaning more on SE teasing new job abilities with the story cutscene.
ilberd's fire slash-thingy, papalymos chargeup-spell, y'shtolas supermegamaholy, thancreds... *insertarrowtothekneejokehere*.
I could've sworn I saw Melusine use that exact ability - Red Lotus Blade. My thinking is it'll be a new - well, not really "new" - ability for Paladins post-50.
Y'shtola uses mega-holy.
Jesus job confirmed? You decide!
If it's not a former or future GLD skill it's just a flashy GLD one that npcs use, combat professions in eorzea use aetherial attacks quite regularly doesn't always need to relate to spells. RoH, circle of scorn and spirits within are examples.
NPC skills are always flashier than ours. Remember Y'shtola's version of Protect? It blocks 100% of all damage. Of course that'd be OP for players, so we get a dumbed down version.
Doesn't matter as he will soon cease to exist.
His death warrant has been signed, and it is wrought in the blood of the innocent.

On the other hand, we're also fancier than most NPCs...
Typical NPC adventurers has a charge-up time for skills we execute in an instant. (E.g. Steel Cyclone, see the gladiators in Halatali)
He lights his sword on fire. You know who also lights his sword on fire?
Another one of these threads? Nope. Sorry. Its just Red Lotus Blade.
Or another source.
Still not convinced? Time = 127s
Rauban used two swords with the ability of scisor swording lalafels like if they was grass but it doesn't mean it will be a new job
Yes the new job is going to be...
Imperial General, as Ilberd is actually Gaius Van Baelsar without his Darth Vader judge armor on. If he's not then he's at least his protege, cause the two men have the same fighting style down to the way they hold a sword. His relationship with Raubahn will be played out to be like that of Judge Gabranth and Basch fon Ronsenburg from FFXII, only without the whole twin brother and redemption later deal.
Calling it now.
do they share a voice actor in one of the language tracks?? i actually like the english voices for ARR but i watched fate zero in japanese.
