How about the various Brass Blades and Crystal Braves NPCs around the world that know who you are but won't arrest you because.... well, just because. After all, we've only been involved in Ud'dah's biggest event since ever. No biggie.
WHOM. /10char
Yeah. I think the better option would be for the NPCs to say something along the lines "We're looking for this adventurer..." or, in other words, they're aware we're out there but they don't recognize us. It's funny how all of the Revenant's Toll is full of "culprits" as we mingle with the police xD
they wouldn't dare risk it (it would be a death sentence), and most don't believe the piss from ul'dah.
after all, why would *redacted* happen?
you can interact with the brass blade outside of the rising stones, but he will tell you to hold steady and that he doesn't buy what the people up top are saying...but he can't let you in for obvious reasons.
The lacklustre soldiers could also be that they know full well who you are, what you can do, and that they would lose alot more than would be comfortable if they did try to take you in. Just a thought. I mean, that one in Toll is practically peeing himself.
Spoilers 2.55
Except that they don't know what happened, only the people in the higher ranks of the hierarchie knows ( Ask Swift about it ), also Alphinaud said that Pipin used his position to make sure that you couldn't be arrested in Ul'Dah or Revenant's Toll.
I think people go a bit too far and too serious in finding excuses for game mechanics that have to exist in MMOs >.>;;; Or maybe I'm just unable to turn a blind eye to such things and file it under lore or AI reasoning o_o;
The general populace was told she was ill, they do not know the events that transpired.
It's not like Eorzea has television, though. Outside of people that have met the warrior of light in person, how does the average Joe even know what we look like? Unless we were in the paper or something, it would be really easy to walk around without any problem, especially since the corrupt Crystal Braves and Brass Blades are trying to cover it up and won't confront us in public anyway.
The officials saying shes ill is just a cover up. Shes most likely dead.
Yeah, if you speak to some of the NPCs they will inform you that they were told she is ill. Which I find rather unusual considering your character escaped and he/she is wanted for murder. You'd think they'd have the whole city ready to beat yo azz. But I guess they wanted to avoid mass panic and your arrest isn't worth it. Authority logic.
The sultana is dead but it's been covered up, if you talk to jenlyns (the PLD quest giver) he'll talk about how the monetarists seem to be taking over and the sultana would be having none of it if she wasn't recovering from illness.
I thought you were going to wanted for treason, not murder. Then rabhan went nuts XD
the gladiator story quest still involves a plot to poison the Sultana, I was all ;^;
Well these npc said the same sentence before 2.55 (they are near a TT npc) so i think SE did not update them ^^
Lolorito and the Monetarists only have any power as long as there is someone on the throne so it would make sense that they not disclose her death to the public. If word got out then there would be a succession crisis due to Nanamo having no heir and the Syndicate would likely have a civil war on their hands. Assuming Lolorito's goal is simply power he's likely trying to solidify his position as acting ruler so that when the civil war inevitably begins he will already have the advantage.
It's not really 'excuses' for game mechanics or such. From a story and lore perspective it actually makes sense that the whole thing is being covered up.
Thanks for some answers on this matter, I haven't ran across whole Uldah to talk with NPCs but it seems that they updated a lot of NPC texts, which is good. :)
Apparently the Sultana is still alive if you do the level 50 CUL quest after the storyline. That's a bigger eyebrow raiser.
Publicly announcing you as a criminal in the state they're currently in:
top ranking syndicate member dead, no heir apparent, and the syndicate does NOT have any sort of hold on any of the grand companies, of which your character is most likely an officer in. Announcing the entirety of what happened would shake-up the city before the factions are ready to make their move. They want to take control, not instill chaos.
The Syndicate isn't very popular, and making the wrong move at this time could motivate Garlemald, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa to take an interest.
There are a LOT of factions in play, and no one wants to make the first move at this time without having a means to deal with everyone. Ishgard on its own is enough to give pause to the factions trying to take Ul'Dah, as they have no reason to adhere to trade agreements made by the other two nations.
It behooves them to hold back information until they're ready to make their move.
Arresting you on trumped up charges would ignite a civil war since you're so popular, and since the syndicate can't really do business when the city is tearing itself apart they have to protect their bottom line by making sure you're not put behind bars.
You have to remember there are still some members of the Brass Blade and Crystal Brave that believe the WoL and Scions are innocent as well but they must act the part to prevent from being arrest like the other Brass Blade and Crystal Braves that voiced that the WoL and Scions innocent.
Currently now the Brass Blade and Crystal Braves are hunting for people that would believe the WoL and Scions are innocent.
I've caught a few of these NPCs around. The impression I get from them is more like, "Yeah, the people paying me have it out for you but number one, I've seen you around and you seem kinda okay and number two, you are a godslaying murder-machine and I'm a redshirt so can we just pretend we didn't see each other? Thanks."
This, though, really pisses me off. I mean, they're supposed to be her personal guards.
We know Estinien from the Dragoon quests is involved in Heavensward. We had freaking better see the Paladin NPCs show up and start asking questions and busting heads. This is one they can't live down.
Personal wish: They spearhead the move to break Raubahn out of jail and join him in whatever mad stunt he pulls next.
