Alex drop rate?

What is the current Alex drop rate from fates atm?

I think it's as high as Atma or even higher.

I've heard the number 10% float around the forums. In my personal experience, I tend to get 2-3 of them per hour in Northern Thanalan.

is there a good spot to just non stop farm fates? i have heard summerford farms

N. Thanalan is still the best place since all the fates there don't have level syncing and a lot of people are farming so the fates will be finished faster than anywhere else.

I prefer Central Thanalan because there're a lot of low level FATEs around. If you're solo there, you pretty much can nuke all these FATEs in no time.

Some people say chance Atma < chance Alex, but in my condition, chance Atma > chance Alex.

If you want spiritbond + gc seals + alex, North Thanalan is a good place. If you want only fast alex, Summerford Farms is the good place.

This is exactly how I did it. Spiritbonded and capped GC seals in N. Than then went to Summerford Farms solo for the last 20-25 that I needed. The problem that I found with N. Thanalan is if something occurs where the entire horde doesn't go to the same FATE as you, then it takes forever to kill. Also when people begin to log off for the night, the FATEs are still geared towards a larger population. Summerford Farms has a pretty small area, almost always a FATE up and can always be solo'd quickly.

I did most of my spiritbinding + Fate for alex in the mines at Outer La. Not really crowded, and there are three that constantly pop near each other, so travel is small with no level synch. N Than is good, I just hate running all over the map to catch a fate.

From what I have had friends tell me, whom have done this part, to them the drop rates for alexandrite seems to be on par as the old drop rate for Atma... and this is after the alexandrite drop rate was increased in the 2.5 patch. Because of this, this is why I haven't bothered FATE farming for alexandrite (as much as I would love to as I can level my chocobo as well).

I was unlucky as hell in N Thanalan - farmed there two days long and got there only 2...never went back...
I farmed in central la noscea - there were always groups and when there were none, I opened one, met some nice ppl who always returned to farming with me over the day^^ It has gotten pretty emotional when I got my last and had to left, I'm not even kidding oO
Yes, it's pretty annyoing to do low lvl fates and I'd loved to get all the atmas in N Thanalan but as I said, I was really unlucky - at least I could SB in thanalan to get nice Materia
Most efficient way to farm alex is to join a group who does fates and hunts
When u are more lucky than me, then N thanalan is the best place to go

i went 45 Fates before I got my first Alexandrite, at which point I got two in a row. I didn't get another in the next fifteen Fates, at which point I gave up and ground Soldiery instead.

If you want a spot where you can be inattentive and not have to move at all, that spot in North Shroud with the opo-opo and Dschubba FATEs is pretty good. I've gotten a few alexandrite just standing there while working on other things IRL and coming back whenever I hear a FATE pop.

i find middle la noscea best for alex grinding. FATEs pop fast and they are very short / easy

I personally think the low level fates are the best. Easy to kill and i think they go down faster than the higher level ones.

40-45 give or take hours of middle la noscea fates. Turn your brain off while doing it and it's over before you know it.

I personally like Central Shroud. Aetheryte is in a centralized location so if you use a OTP, you can set it as your free point and get around easily. The FATEs die really quickly and don't scale much. I tried Middle La Noscea and the FATEs scaled too much due to the sheer number of people in the zone.

Hint as a healer pretty comfy.... go to a lowlevel area heal the levelsynced people unsynced you get fast aggro but the mobs barely do damage if you dont dodge.... usually easy gold on a fate and actually noticed more drops ATMA/Alex wise than when i really DO the fate :/
