It has been over almost 9 months to the date since I last subbed to FF14 with me being glad to have returned doing all the new content with the addition of the Golden Saucer with hopes of a brighter expansion in the distance. But I will say the one factor that still bothers to this day is the fact that FF14 still relies heavily on RNG. And I am not talking about RNG based of effort, but RNG based on pure slot machine mechanics I first wrote about 10 months ago when Atma first came out. At least the light at the end of the tunnel is that it seems that SE is heading in another direction in regards to main hands and how they are being attained without having a huge grind fest of content players have beyond leveled past 10-15 levels from 50. I know, alot of people are going to say that Atma was always fine but I never believe any form of gear should be based solely on luck and not at all on skill. I til this day will never complete the Atma quest line for the sole purpose of time consumption since theres is already to many other ways to get a mainhand that is either better or equal to. That being said, my hopes with Heavensward coming out is that we get a new type of gameplay as many have suggested of a stacking RNG effect which may or may not happen but here is to hope that SE finally fixes this one annoying aspect of the game!
To all that I may offended in the past with my posts and comments, I wanted to convey my dearest apologies for my behavior but I still believe that a system like Atma in which it is based on pure RNG and time consumption of content way lower than max level never belongs in any MMO and never should and that opinion will never change. I do not mind long grinds, but I want something to show for it other than one person attaining a item faster than another based on pure luck....not effort!

It's giving something comparable to people who don't raid or don't want to bother getting the raid weapon for their class. It's another option that's sometimes not even close to BiS. And let's be honest, when people see a Zeta, people aren't looking at it the same way as someone with a Dreadwyrm. There's no bragging rights to a Zeta compared to Dread besides that they put in the effort.
The RNG of a Zeta or relic in general is sometimes much worse than even a Dreadwyrm weapon. Don't sit there and talk down to the others who put in their efforts for any stage of the relic. I farmed mine when the Atma drop rate was garbage and I farmed Twintania weapons when they were needed and I farmed Nael's T9 weapons when they were BiS. I find that relic weapons are more work cause of their boring grind than any coil weapon. I've also had great luck with them as I've never had to do more than 5-9 of any of it for the weapons I wanted.
Nirvana? Yeah, I had to do 30+ of Halatali HM and SV HM alone. That became worse than the deaths of T13.
So you want a strong weapon purely from raids. Awesome. Good for you. I don't want a raid weapon for all my jobs. Sometimes they are garbage. T9's SMN book isn't that awesome. If you don't like the relic weapon and what it does for others who are not raiders though, then don't do it and keep it to yourself. No reason to look down on others whose only high ilevel weapon is the relic. -

Hate to break it to you but theres already a time = power weapon announced for 3.0, something similar to relic. And honestly i think its a good thing that there are some things that are a bit grindy to fill in time between patches. Whether its RNG or farming light/tomes/MGP, what difference does it make? If it takes 200 fates to get an atma, or a quest that says "go do 200 fates". Is it really that much difference?
I for one am somewhat ok with RNG mechanics, while they are frustrating it is different. If every thing was earned by "getting x amount of tomes/light/MGP" it would be equally grindy and prob even more monotonous as every step of the relic would be exactly the same. -

This game is just another treadmill dungeon hub. It has good aesthetics and a solid structure. Dungeons are fun but once you clear the content its rinse and repeat until your eyes bleed...or another patch comes out. That's how it works though and it is fun to an extent. I play it casually myself.....dunno what I'm going with but at this point you wont convince or change the game to any epic extent.

1. Just do what I do...Get Ilvl 100 from Rowena - Go upgrade to 110.
2. Shiva or SCOB 115.
3. Farm Poetics for 120 - upgrade to 130.
4. FCOB for 135.
You have options man. Relic doesn't have to be the end all. I refuse to do Atma too

Now the 675 alexandrites though, I'm not sure how long thats gonna take.
Zodiac is 25% done (9 out of 36 items made)
