persistent 24/7 pvp area with objectives

please add (in the expansion maybe) a big persistent zone where pvpers can go and fight. can make it like GW2 and ESO's world vs world vs world map (since we have 3 factions) make pvp gear in this area work and give wolf marks/exp for finishing objectives/killing players.

pvps want a place where they can go all day everyday. like the pvers have now. if the population is too low you can make the area cross server perhaps. make the areas huge and amazing.

Considering what they did with Frontlines, I'm sure they'll come up with some excuse to make us stand around waiting before we can actually play.

this would be akin to gw2's world vs world vs world. or wow's winterspring or the persistant zone in ESO(whatever its called) like a bigger version of frontlines thats always up. it could reset every week (not go down tho) you could just teleport there and start pvping.

i dind't play much pvp in GW2, but i'm ready to accept anything that could help pvp in FF... because right now it's almost dead.

Why the awesome ideas are never heard? I'll really start to believe the mythical post about how much they ignore PvP section.

I thought of this... but then thought of what I would do, and that's to amass an even bigger force and take out the campers for revenge. Beats standing around waiting on a dungeon to pop.

Would love this, all I want is more chance to smash some faces in. This or dueling, either works.

I would really love this kind of content to be implemented.

I live in the UK but all my FFXI friends that I play with are NA, so I decided to play on a NA server. Aether PvP queues really pick up between 0.00 to 5.00 (GMT) which means I have to stay up really late on weekends just to be able to experience the content I enjoy! I appreciate it's my choice to pick this server but I believe this kind of game mode would really accommodate getting straight into PvP as soon as you log in.

Thanks for posting the video of how Guildwars 2 implemented this kind of content, I have a copy of the game so I might give that a go in the lull between now and Heavensward.

Judging from the sheer lack of feedback from the dev team since the implementation of Slaughter it is starting to look like PvP really is a second thought. I just hope they realize that although it's not the majority, there is a core community of players who are really interested in PvP content and these players are more likely to stick with FFXIV spamming this content and paying every month, as opposed to those who return for a few weeks every version update to try the new content and then cancel until the next update. There is an abundance of PvE content, maybe skip a Hildibrand/Moogle Mail quest one update and give those who enjoy PvP something like this that will fill the void of excessive queue times.

I think an EQ based system would be a decent start also.

Zone in, run into the PVP designated area, and begin to pwn all around you (or receive an intense beating yourself).

Pvp'ers timekilling dream.

not really sure how they would implement this tho. however they could can use cartenou area for it i supose or perhaps a new expansion area. i havent played EQ or ESO so if someone could fill me in how things work over there.

in GW2 they pit 3 different servres against eachother so theres enough people doing it. however its a more pvp oriented game so they dont have problems with people actually doing it. so that might not work very well in FFXIV cause there arent enough pvpers. we have data centers tho. and if they wanna stay true to the grand company factions i think they would have to make it a huge area but make everyone from our datacenter be able to enter the same one or theres never gonna be enough people.

my suggestions

* huge area
* GC based teams
* whole Data center on the same map
* multiple objectives
* escort
* player keeps
* resource control points
* having control of certain points give benefits from allagan technology. like defensive drones or allagan siege weapons

the story for the pvp is based on finding that supossedly hidden omega weapon. its an old allagan magitek factory? or something to that extent. true to the storyline

In the PvP zone include PvE elements to draw in both play styles and give the community some cohesion:

- mob camps as minor strategic points so factions can gain territory

- have the mob camps give high amounts of exp per kill to add incentive for lower lvl players joining zone. This would create a risk vs reward incentive. Higher level players would gain slightly increased wolf marks for timen spent assisting in that mob camp as well as an increased wolf mark bonus for each PvP kill made in that mob camp.

- defending a faction mob camp can give wolf mark per every unit of time spent within that camp (like a fate area concept). It would also add towards total faction score in the event that some type of zone tally is implemented

- offensively , attacking a mob camp gains increased wolf marks for each low lvl player killed and hi lvl defender killed in a mob camp

- mob camps mob respawns can be triggered by clearing other nearby objectives to give incentive towards stay mobile (lowbies would be able to assist In these objectives for example killing low lvl trash mobs around the objective for x reason)

Needs some tuning but I think if done smartly it could be awesome

I had an idea for this which basically abolished GC-restrictions and instead opted to put in 2 mercenary factions pitted against each other- with territorial control objectives (similar to what Areeya & Angarato described). You would be free to join/leave a faction at any time- not being part of one makes you a target to everyone within the PvP-able area though (except party/alliance members).


The way I had thought of it was that the factions themselves worked similarly akin to beast tribes- in that you PvP/complete objectives (PvP FATEs?)/daily quests within the field to raise your reputation and have access to special goods/benefits. Leaving the faction resets all the rep you had with them; however alongside faction rep you would also build up influence points (albeit at a much, much slower pace), and while faction rep would be reset if you left, influence would not. Influence would also build if you go factionless (possibly at a faster rate to give it some incentive?).

And upon rejoining a mercenary faction you could use your influence points to instantly raise your reputation with them to a certain degree (Shouldn't be able to max it out right off the bat, but give you a pretty darn good head start). Your gained influence points would be removed upon doing so.


And to prevent stacking, have a cooldown on being able to rejoin a faction after leaving it (say about a week?), and give benefits to the faction which is "losing" based on objective completions during that week (such as increased EXP/PvP EXP earned on the field, increased Wolf Mark gain, etc.)


It needs a lot of work and doesn't really fit in lorewise, but it was pretty fun to brainstorm.

I actually prefer the 3 faction based system. and being locked in 1 gives you more "pride" about your team. if you can switch at any point everyone is just gonna winning team join.

Perhaps it can give you pride in your GC if it happens to be the dominant one on your datacenter and you find you're consistently aligned with motivated players who can think more than 3 secs in the future. Do you think the other two GC's per data center will feel pride in a situation where they're usually overmatched due to too many IDGAF players on their side and a dwindling population of experienced players willing to form premades and wait out the queue. I'm seeing more resentment and loathing going around, mostly directed towards ones own GC for holding them back.

I think its a good idea to have some zones where PVP is allowed, where only those willing to brave the danger that might await find the treasure within.

I remember an old mmorpg called the pvp zone the "Wilderness", which had some of the strongest monsters and best loot. Although PVPers would hunt those venturing in and get some of their loot. Those who attack others who have remained peaceful so far get a skull over their head, if they die they would lose everything on them.

So I think the concept of having some zones or one vast zone where PVP is allowed would add a more exciting element to PVP. The adrenaline of barely making it out alive your first time entering just to treasure hunt or desire for revenge if someone managed to take you out is what makes it exciting. Also it gives people reason to improve at it even if they don't like hunting players, so they can defend themselves when entering PVP zones.

i really hope they give pvpers something. just battlegrounds isnt enough. especially cause its only 1 map and the queue times are horrid. the wolves den is completely dead.

we want a place where we can pvp everytime we login. without wait times.

I would love open zone pvp or duels... Just for fun and to practice :D it would add more to do
