Demon Tabard of Aiming vs Dreadwyrm Tabard of Aiming

I just cleared t13 last week and i got both the bow and the body for bard. Would the dreadwyrm Tabard be better than demon tabard?

Go with the Demon Tabard.

It gives slightly more dps than the dreadworm tabard (according to current stat weights) and doesn't come with ugly skillspeed.

The only thing you lose is a bit of vit but that's not an issue.

Your scholar needs to get good no offense. Succor, sacred soil and virus should be more than enough to survive with 1.5 health

There has been recent info about how skillspeed is even worse than we already knew, ala Dervy's blog, so it skewed the numbers even further towards Demon's favor.

Yea, the math says that demon tabard is better than dreadwyrm unless you need the extra defense. For example, I've been using the dreadwyrm tabard for t7 savage progression because quad venomous tails + fireball is freaking scary. But if you're comparing their value solely by how much dps they give you (which is how you should compare them for 99% of content) the demon tabard is the winner.

I still like my Kimiru Coat :)
However seeing that all wod ever drops in my runs is darn Bard gear i may as well pick it up and be done with gear for the week, lol

Also 8 det= 1 dex.
So the turn 13 chest is like saying you have 54 dex compared to the WoD one.
You also gave that extra HP and Defence.

I don't know what the value of DET is given a certain level of DEX (and I do not fully trust values derived from the current damage formula), but I sincerely doubt it is worth that little.

So i dont think 8 det equates to 1 dex. Its more of 3 det per dex.

so I have this nice bard dps calculator written up here https://github.com/jrlusby/xiv-bard-...earcomparer.py which is based on pretty much everything we know about bard dps and how damage formulas work. It simpifies cd usage which lowers the actually output dps from what you'd normally do but this is done in a way which should have no effect comparative value of the output, better set should still be better than a worse set even if both numbers are underestimated, they're underestimated by the same amount. When I run the following lines of code

whatever1 = calc_dps(626, 535, 697, 382, 373, zetabow)
whatever2 = calc_dps(631, 535, 651, 394, 405, zetabow)
print whatever1, whatever2, whatever1-whatever2

where whatever1 represents a bis set using demon tabard, and whatever2 represents the same set except with the dreadwyrm tabard replacing the demon tabard it outputs the following values

474.389503223 473.092316401 1.29718682139

Basically, based on the best work of mice and men in figuring out how changing your gear will change your dps, the demon tabard equates to a greater than 1.2 dps gain over the dreadwyrm tabard.

He's most probably going by what we originally knew about Stat-Weights back in 2.X when we were using Valkys work.

I think he means, with a demon tabard build you should go from full health (6.5 ish?) -> 1.5k hp as long as your scholar does their job correctly and that the extra defense from the dreadwyrm tabard wouldnt make a difference, I am inclined to agree with him.

Main thing here is the crit. Bard can sacrifice dex or det as long as they're able to go over a certain crit cap. Which is why an overmelded Kirimu Coat is always chosen vs the ironworks and dreadwyrm.

once u can get enough accuracy without the kirimu coat then thats the time to use the Demon Chest

This isn't necessarily true. The main consideration is always how much damage you can get, it has nothing to do with capping crit to a certain amount. Each crit point has value, the value decreases SLIGHTLY (very slightly) each time you add another one, this is almost negligibly minor. You can essentially treat every crit point as having equal value at the ranges we handle (My bis solver doesnt make this assumption but thats besides the point). The thing is crit det items tend to have really good dps / item level ratios since they pack so much damage heavy stats. But you're still neglecting to notice the fact that the dreadwyrm tabard is an i130 item with det as its main stat. That is a lot of dex and det and it definitely gives you more damage than the kirimu coat. The kirimu coat however has the advantage of +41 accuracy and no skillspeed which is nice because it doesnt mess with your tp management. If you remove the demon chest from the calculation and set accuracy for t10 accuracy dreadwyrm tabard becomes BiS because you cant benefit from the 41 accuracy in the chest piece, at 491 acc there are no other good places to drop accuracy (unless you get crafted crit det sks accessories that dont have accuracy). This pattern continues until you hit approximately 535 accuracy when the kirimu chest wins thanks to its massive accuracy, allowing you to use all the same items you would in a t10 set and still hit t13 acc just by swapping the chest

I got another question. I am currently using Yoichi Bow zeta with: Acc 22, Crit 39, Det 28, Dreadwyrm hand, and Demon Breeches of aiming. Since my Zeta is not perfect meld, I think I want to try out the Dreadwyrm bow but to use that i need to get the ironwork aiming pants arugmented for the acc. Is it worth it or just wait till i can get the dreadwyrm pant? Is 5 dex increase worth more than det 22?

I would never get the ironworks pants, the i130 ironworks are literally worse the i110 high allagan pants, you are far better off waiting for the dreadworm pants which are about ~10dex worth of dps above everything else in that category.

Do you have either the ironworks hat, feet, neck or ring? Because all of those are far better accuracy upgrades than the ironwork pants.

When u say it like that Demon Breeches of aiming is horrible too. Det of 22 and skill speed of 44.

Wait for the T12 pant (farming next week, haha), and use a pentamald i110 craft pant before this. This is what I did. I kept my i110 pant for a long time, just got the T12 pant 3 weeks ago :)

If you need pants i would say go with a fully melded Kimiru which is more then good enough until you get dreadwyrm.
Ironworks chest, pants and even earrings are not very good at all

Which is pretty damn expensive and probably not worth it with 3 month till 3.0

Keeping one to two melded accessories won't make a big difference. Go for it you will be missing 10 Dex isn't that bad. You probably can make that up with the secondary stats.
