Final melds for artisan offhands

I got all lucis tools and have now full BiS complects for all classes, but offhands are still unmelded.
In the Internet i see only one recommendation - "meld 15 craftsmanship at least", but i am not sure that this recommendation is for lucis.
I tried to check 4* progress sequences at ffxivcrafter com and didn't found any acceptable variants with less than 5 hits even with crship 505 (melds crship+17 and fc buff)
Pbp pbp rs rs ends with my current crship 478, but this variant is too risky
Pbp pbp rs cs2 cs2 works with crship 478 too

So, what to do?
- Save gil and don't meld offhand at all?
- Meld control? Which cap is there? I already have control 424 - it's more than needed for 4*

You can go economic and only meld +3 CP to them. If you got full melds and artisans in the rest of the slots you don't need any more stats. All of the meld suggestions on the net assume you don't have a Lucis.

Maybe ) CP+3 ball costs 15K in my world, so i can simply remove materia from my offhands if will decide to do normal melds. 120k for crafter is not a money.

I'd put in Control 4 and overmeld the CP 3. That still leaves you enough room to change the melds later without having to wipe anything off.

Also, 424 control before melding off hands.. you're missing 2 control somewhere :) should be 426 fully melded minus the off hand melds.

424 is the max before OH melds if you go with +craftmanship/CP in the Artisan's Apron instead of + 2 control.

Yes. I have in my arpon crship+18 control+4 and cp+3
And now i don't know what i can get from 355 cp if i will meld offhands.
As i understood 352 cp is enough for food buffed 3-4 star rotations, and there is 1 star 40 dura hq rotation that needs 358 cp. My current rotation hits >85% on 1 star, >77% on 2 star and costs 348 cp. It seems that i will get nothing from these 3cp

You're not calculating the ToTT procs.. 3 CP is a very little difference, but depending on how many ToTT you can pick up along the way, that's the difference between being able to use your finisher or not.

At the very least, it's the difference between a SH2 and regular SH. If you end up with 10 extra durability on your finisher, i.e. 40 dura when you need Byregots and 2 CS2 to finish. The 3 extra CP will allow you to use SH2 for the finisher instead of SH. It's likely not going to be a game breaker, but it at least has SOME potential to be useful while others do not.

Just using PbP + RS x 2 without ingenuity and using 2 CS2 at the end will save you 32CP at least from not having to use Ingenuity 2. If you need to use Standard Synthesis at the end, i.e. have 479 craftsmanship, that's too much CP waste.

1. Using the Above, you save yourself 32 CP which is greater than the value of 10 durability. 10 durability is worth about 25-29 CP depending on which skill you use to recover durability.

2. You have an extra cross class slot from not having to use Ingenuity 2. This can go towards Innovation which is a really cheap way to bait.

3. You have an extra bait step on the finisher.
Since you have to use CS2 twice to finish the synthesis instead of once, when you're trying to bait Byregot's condition, you can use one of the CS2 as a bait step. Combined with #2 of using Innovation as a bait, that gives you the standard 2 baits under Great Strides.


It's up to you to decide if the 10 durability saved is worth that, More likely than not, you'll have to resort to Observation as baits if you went with that route.

Only time I've really found the extra craftsmanship necessary was when I was making a primal weapon, but I just got through it by using the FC buff for 10 craftsmanship. (472 -> 482)

Personally, I melded my offhands so that with the Supra I was at 458 Craft 415 Control. This allowed me to make the 4 star recipes.

Getting the Lucis just makes them a little bit easier.

How'd I meld them though? Craft IV, Craft IV, Craft III, CP III, Control III. I know, both the third Craft and the Control could have been IV's, but these were cheaper.

Eh, it's entirely up to you. Are you actually going to gain an advantage by doing this? I really don't think it will prove to be any sort of future proofing with the level cap increase coming up. Unless it actually affects the HQ rate of crafts you're going to make from here to the expansion I'd just leave them alone. That said, control is always helpful, but there aren't any further major thresholds to break through by melding those off hands.

Once you hit the minimum stats for the 4 star recipes, there really isn't all that much else you need (excepting, perhaps, more CP). So even getting the Lucis is not, strictly speaking, necessary.

It should help, however, in acquiring the next stage of gear, whether that next stage of gear is crafted or bought with tokens.

Thing is, that rotation would likely DECREASE his hq rates because he'll have less chance to bait for Good condition.
with 3-4 star crafting, an extra touch step won't mean much when you land your Byregots on Normal condition.. Especially at the cost of the extra 32CP used for Ingenuity II. That could be used elsewhere.
