[dev1072] Abolishment of physical lvls.

the most exciting part about this to me is that now each class will have its own stat point allotment, should be interesting to see how they incorporate customization into that in the future.

one thing im not quite understanding is the whole "stat points will have less of an impact as players increase in level; however, the benefits granted by gear will be increased" thing. what exactly does this mean?

It means at lvl 10 3 STR will be a huge difference in dmg, and at lvl 48 it will be peanuts.

Bonus stats on gear as a whole though will increase overall efficiency.

i figured it was somethin like that. i suppose they will be doing a massive gear overhaul seeing as how even high rank gear now gives puny stat bonuses.

Keep in mind that potency is going up. That +8 STR and +4 DEX will be huge with the coming changes imo.

So here comes the fun: Gear get changed, now this and that item ain't good anymore, that item which sold for 10k gil is now the best in the game, rage rage rage. Me? I can't wait to see how they do these changes ^^ Right now 90% of all players got a crab bow :/

Yeah but they aren't retarded. SE will still keep Verdant bow as the best in game atm.

ARC now can wear PGL weapons. Gogogogogogo.

I think it basically means that as you progress your class, you won't always get stat increases. There would be a level where you wouldn't gain any STR, so gear is where you'd want to make up for any points you could want.

I am a bit confused on the "Automated character development"; will it be like FFXI when you gain a level that your attributes would change automatic. That we don't have control over it because if that is it then this is going to suck.

Honestly that's the impression that I'm getting. It will help immensely with class uniqueness though.

one thing im curious to see is the. right now anyone can get a huge hp boost by maxing vit, with yoshi making glad the official "tank" i wonder how DD and tank hp will fair. Vit gained through gear or traits does not raise hp, maybe that will change too.

Players want to differentiate their character from other players characters. Players enjoy developing their characters. The trick is to increase options not limit them. This change should be the 1st step in creating a better and more expanded means by which players develop their characters.

Make quested Abilities and Traits as important as any gear.

example: Iron Body Quest, a trait of Iron Body increases Physical Defense and Resistances by 6-10%. It would involve traveling to a remote location to train with a Monk or Monks to toughen their bodies.

Expand the number of traits and limit players only with the number of trait points they may set.

I have one, and only one thing that I absolutely want to see come from these adjustments.

They balance magic damage, i.e. reduce how much mobs deal to players.

I can fight pure physical mobs that are 10, even 12 ranks above me. But if that monster knows magic, it's going to be a much harder battle.

So long as magic damage is fixed, I will be ecstatic. If it gets ignored yet again, I will be extremely displeased. My opinion of the entire patch is going to hinge on it, really.
