Individual Loot

hello. this idea is to help keep the way SE said they would like to allow newer players the ability to be able to progress towards end-game quicker.

as the game gets continuously expanded, it will take longer and longer for new players to reach end-game.


what i propose is that after a certain amount expansion to the game, older content will have individual loot systems. now i have seen this in other games. and even in those games were some exceptions on certain items to be excluded from the individual loot system. but i can't really say what those exceptions would be in this game.

it shouldn't cause any harm to do this to older content. even if the system is always one expansion behind. like implement individual loot for 2.0 when 4.0 comes out. but i think it is better to implement on 2.0 as 3.0 goes live. but maybe not, i don't know.

While I'm not debunking your idea, I think that SE will follow their usual pattern and make sure that newer or very casual players are provided easy access to equipment that lets them participate in most level-appropriate content.

I wouldn't be surprised if lvl 50+ leveling content provided relevant gear as quest and dungeon rewards so that new players could increase their ilvl continually as they leveled to 60 rather than making special efforts to farm for workable gear.

That "is" what the tome-purchase gear is supposed to be. So instead of having to farm the items from dungeons or pay blackmail prices for crafted gear.

Someone who has no tomes, and has reached level 50, can farm mainstream and low-level until they get enough tomes to have one complete set of level 100 gear, and then if they have the patience, they can either buy the 120 tomes gear or just do WoD for ilevel 120 gear. This doesn't give you BiS (Best in Slot) gear (which should be the hardest content or the hardest to craft items.)

When level 51+ gear is available, it won't automatically be better than ilevel 135, more likely it will be equal to ilevel 90 as that's the level required to play all the launch/existing content except Second Coil and Final Coil.

1.0 primals had individual loot and people complained about it, so they changed it, which seems better

sometimes someone never got his weapon, while other group members who had no use for it got 5 of them...

It makes sense, I recall in WoW's Lich King expansion, the new areas green loot were almost on-pair with my "old" raid epics, so I will not be surprised something along the line, on the 51+ gear. And I don't complain, I will move on to the new top end gear.

i see. well alrighty then. thank you everyone for your input on this! ^_^ just thought i would try to come up something to help some. but maybe it is unnecessary. we shall see :)

the only other idea i would have is to implement the ability to enter a dungeon without the using the DF. this would allow for solo-modes and people could even try to duo an instance. i have also seen other games like this. and i think the most common configurations are either, 1.)you get minimal EXP and loot and whether you win or lose you can only attempt solo-mode 3 times per day. OR 2.) no EXP and loot, and you can attempt as much as you want.

but i think this idea probably wouldn't work well with how duties are handled in this game. all it would take is a butthurt/troll FC to reserve a crap ton of instances, preventing other people from entering. meh.

Yoshida already mentioned that they might be relaxing the requirement for a specific number of players to enter certain duties.

Placing a restriction such as no XP or loot would be completely pointless since no one would utilize the option if that were the case. Also, why would penalties need to exist at all when voluntarily entering an instance with fewer people should usually make it more difficult?

well if there is a solo-mode, then the rewards should at least be reduced. less exp and such. and there are also instances that drops unique gear that can be traded. either legit players will sit there and try to level up through the instance on their own, or bots will farm it all day. and even legit players could still flood the market with those unique items. their isn't anything wrong with leveling up by yourself, but using what is usually considered to be group content in a solo-mode isn't ideal for an MMO.


if they still allow rewards during solo-mode, then i feel there should be a daily limit to your attempts. with a limited amount of attempts per day per instance, the rewards may not necessarily need any reduction. however, solo-mode would mean an easier difficulty. so it would only be logical to reduce the rewards.

a daily limit will discourage twinking, and will also prevent bots farming all day. while still allowing people to do things on their own. even with the limited amount of attempts per day, you could run it daily and still level on your own. but because of the daily limit, players will not be able to sit there on the same instance all day. they will be more likely to move and make actual progress.


as far as only 2 or 3 people entering the instance... i don't think there should be any change to the instance like this. the system would have to be rather robust for that. so the dungeon could stay the same, and the rewards too. however, this will allow people to farm more instances with less bots. so maybe either a restriction somewhere, or go back and make those unique items unable to be traded. bots already be farming low-level instances for the items through the DF, we don't want to make it any easier.




even if there wasn't any rewards, plenty of people will still utilize this functionality. not everyone enjoys waiting 30+ minutes for an instance every time they turn around.

They're not talking about making special versions of dungeons for solo players; it's just letting you enter some existing duties with fewer players. Hence you wouldn't be enjoying any special benefit or extra loot for less work.

And no, instances that give no rewards are a waste of development time. Either there must be a reward, or else the "reward" is being able to advance to whatever content was gated behind that duty.

It's already super easy to advance really you can farm soldiery so fast and farm ST to get gear good enough to start doing Expert Roulette which will net you 120ilvl gear which can be upgraded to 130 by doing the weekly quest for LoA,ST,WoD you beat all three then you get an upgrade mat. Easy. There isn't much more they can do than hand people ilvl 90 gear right off the bat which would make a lot of dungeons more redundant than they already are and cause more problems than it solves because new players will try to skip right to the latest hard modes with a 90 minimum entry without learning anything about endgame.
