It'd be real convenient if I could see MGP under the currency tab on my character view. I mean I can see wolf marks, and allied seals but the new currency doesn't show here. Is it possible?

While it may not be the exact spot you're referencing, we are considering making it easier than it is now to view all your currency (including MGP) in one location. We've also heard some requests to make it so clicking on your gil on the HUD will cycle through to MGP as well, but we don't have any plans for that at the moment.
The currency tab on the character screen was an amazingly good idea. Unfortunately, it's going to need some modifications; right now, it just doesn't have enough screen real estate to show too many different kinds of currency. FFXI originally had no currency menu. When they finally added one around the ninth or so year of the game's life, there were scores, maybe even a hundred different kinds of currency. Given enough time, the same thing will likely happen in FFXIV. SE will need to be prepared for it!
So, we'll be able to see all our currency in one location, but it may not be the currency tab, which exists for the sole purpose of letting us see all our currency in one location? Hmmm... I'm actually ok with that so long as it's available somewhere, but I have to admit that just seems a bit odd to me. Or is it just that the currency tab itself is being separated out from the character window? That would be all right, as it really doesn't have any need for the character image/gear to show alongside it.
I certainly don't know the laws in every country, but most places, gambling laws only apply to gambling money or something of actual value (and therefore convertible to money). When all that's being won or lost is points that have no meaning beyond the game they're earned in, that doesn't usually count as gambling.
(And if someplace did actually have gambling laws that pertain to points, that would have come up by MGP being introduced, not by which window they're displayed in.)
It sounds much more like there just isn't room for MGP on the currency tab. While it may look to us like there's plenty of room, they've confirmed that they're introducing several new currencies in 3.0 (red chips, blue chips, etc), and space is almost certainly already reserved for those. So, rather than squeezing it in with the rest of the currencies, they introduced the Gold Saucer interface and put it there.
It sounds to me as if they're going to remove the currency tab altogether and introduce a seperate currency interface. Such an interface could have separate tabs for DoH/DoL currencies (like the chips) and DoW/DoM currencies (like the tomestones), and another for misc currencies (GC seals, MGP, Allied Seals, etc).
