It's come to my attention that even if I buy heavensward, I won't access it until I get through 2.0 through 2.55. I'm still on 2.0. Does anyone have an idea of how long each patch scenario is? This includes cutscenes. I also assume that 2.0 has the longest storyline out of the 2.0 series of patches. Am I correct?
What is the main scenario length from 2.0 to 2.55 each?

If your gear is of reasonable standard you should be able to get through the post Praetorium storyline up to the current 2.51 story in a couple of days (and that's playing somewhat causally). The part that usually caught players out early on was in the 2.1 'A Realm Awoken' story where the player is forced to undertake the first five or so Guildhests as part of the main scenario (Guildhests previously being content most players ignored), and, after that, the player is then sent to undertake the previously optional dungeon Sunken Temple of Qarn (a level 30ish dungeon).
Other than that, it's pretty straightforward, consisting mostly of cutscenes and the occasional solo fight, with at least a new Primal fight towards the end of each patch story, plus a couple of new dungeons as well (Snowcloak and Keeper of the Lake). -

They're pretty short if you speed through them. Maybe 1-2 hours each. The main locks are the gear locks on the primal fights; 2.1's is i55 all the way up to 2.5's which is... i90 requisite? If you can do that though you shouldn't have much issue.

Ehh...If it gives you any measure, 2.55 will be the longest (except 2.0 but that's obvious) supposedly if you did it back to back. Apparently 3 hours worth of stuff if you barrel through it all. They'll all be less than that.
2.0 is from level 1 to slightly past 50 so of course it's the longest, but the 2.x patches are all much shorter chunks of story. Once you get 2.0 done it's pretty smooth sailing, I'm sure - I've done each one as it came out so I don't know about doing it all at once. -

Should I bother with side activities like guildhests, guildleves, guild quests, side quests, etc. or just focus on the story? I don't think story quests alone are going to give enough EXP.

On patch days I usually burn through the story in about 4 -5 hours and I watch and read everything (I like the story :D), but that includes getting side-tracked by dungeons and other quests and FC friends asking for help and such. Your biggest problem will probably be the 2 Guildhests and the 1 dungeon for 2.1's story and 2.4's story does have a bit of running around in Coerthas.

I mainly use my leve allowance to my crafting and gathering class, so I unlock my leve quest at all available area, it will be easier for me to lvl my crafting and gathering class later on. -

I think each 2.X patch is about 3 hours or so of story, though I've never gone straight through without getting side tracked on other additions. As others have said, 2.1 has a few spots that will take time waiting in queue (less so if you're a tank), and the HM primal fights aren't exactly popular (no rewards but they're in the trials roulette so they have some traffic), but otherwise it's mostly solo stuff and cut scenes.

Having burned through storyline on my main (as I'd ignored it post 2.0) in bouts while farming for ilvl gear for primals through Crystal Tower; it really isn't that bad. I'm currently working on 2.1+ on my alt and its going a little slower because her gear sucks.
So:
1) unlock challenge log (in Limsa Drowning Wench level 15ish quest) Do dungeons/Fates/Leve at minimum each week
2) As archer, you'll have long ques so fate grinding while waiting is good. if you change to either healer or tank, dungeon burning can be good (arcanist is a good alternative if you want to dps and heal as you can be both past 30 and level both at same time, switching between Scholar to heal and Summoner to dps)
2.5) if you fate while in que, you'll quickly out level side quests. Leaving them for other classes later is an option. So long as you always stay ontop of your Main Story Quests
2.55) Doing Leve does help. At least unlocking each location is a good idea.
3) Do Roulette Every Day. if you que a dungeon specifically, que the one highest level on your list.
4) Post 30, unlock your chocobo companion (and start doing that challenge log as well) It starts in Camp Tranquil "My Fiesty Chocobo"
5) Fate grinding after 32/33 in Corethas is the fastest way to level. Either join a group, form your own; do a partial with chocobos out; it goes pretty quick.
6) around 46 you'll run into a dry spot in MSQ and side quests: fate farming here works better over dungeon farming unless your heals/tank (corethas still or northan than whichever has parties going)
6.5) doing Leves in Mor Dhona 45+ can also get you to 50 pretty quick if you set them at minimum 1 level higher then your level
At 50: Spend Soldiery as needed for accessories > gear; poetics for whatever you want/need most.
Finish up the first few MSQ until you get the credits and then pick up the next.
Start your Relic quest in Vesper Bay, do everything it says so you can get a decent weapon for starting 50. Upgrade to Zeinth asap (+1 of relic).
Also, pick up ALL the dungeon quests in Mor Dhona's tavern and the quest for Crystal tower (fresh 50 can usually run 1st wing labyrinth of the Ancients" right away)
gear up on that until you can run 2nd wing ST while still running the level 50 dungeons.
By the time you can run wing 2 you should be good for 2.1 and likely all of 2.2.
When you reach Wing 3 WOD you should be good for 2.3+ upgrading items as able.
