User Macro that Allows you to set distance?

I was wondering if I could make a user macro that allowed me to have a move activate a certain distance ahead of me. For example if I could have Shadow Flare casted a certain distance in front of me, or Shukuchi propel me a certain distance. If this isn't possible I believe it should be implemented

As a PS4 player who uses the controller for everything besides chat it is really difficult to aim a move since I have to hold the R1 button and use the left stick, therefore preventing me from moving while trying to place the location of the move. This essentially make movement style cooldown moves like Shukuchi essentially useless for almost all situations since in the time span it took you to ensure the placement was right you could have run to the place you needed to get to on your own and that is, explicitly speaking, ridiculous since Shukuchi could have got you there a second or two sooner. Speaking for Shadow Flare and any attack move like it, we should be able to do the same so that we don't spend the time that we could be using casting the spell instead trying to get the placement right. This also sets up spellcasters for having to either drop their cast times or take a telegraph because they had to spend extra time making the placement as close to perfect as possible.

A command like that is totally code-able. You just need to set a distance parameter for the character models if they don't already have one and allow for a certain max distance, depending on the range of the move in question. This doesn't seem like an impossible feat

Or, ya know, you could do those things a bit more often while moving. I play on ps4, have no issues aiming freeze/caster lb, or using shukuchi on my alt. Aiming on the Magitek mount is also incredibly easy. I have none of the problems you seem to describe. I find that it in no way hampers my ability to move either.

In the timespan of 2 seconds you an successfully aim these moves? You lose DPS if you are spending more time then that on attack moves that need aiming and when it comes to distance altering moves, those are used in extreme situations where you need to get somewhere fast. Let's say it's T5, snake portion, your tank is having a brainfart moment and you've had to DPS far out away from the neurolinks, Twin drops after the second divebomb phase and you've just killed the last snake, you can save your healer a rez by using Shukuchi to make it to the neurolink instead of running and either wasting TP using sprint or not making it at all and dying. That is a situation specifically for Shukuchi.

It's also not a practice thing when the cursor will end up appearing randomly or in the placement of where you used the move last in relation to your character's position, and not being able to move whatsoever while aiming these moves set you up to being hit by something you could've dodged or completely discarding your current cast time to avoid it. The fluidity in being able to choose the placement while also multitasking on something else is what makes this game one-sided towards PC players and adding that ability to have a move so that the move autocasts to a position in relation to your character that the move can currently be casted on or teleported to would help lighten the burden these moves have already. This isn't about having fun with the move or doing something just because you can, this is about precision and using these moves to the best of the given potentials. Though not the fault of the SE developers this seems to be an oversight.

You do realize that you move with the left stick and aim this stuff with the right stick, correct? I've had to mark stuff as tank, while postioning/actively holding aggro. It really isn't a big deal, I know where the marker shows on my screen, I've been doing this a lot. I have none of the trouble you describe while re/marking in ifrit ex for his giant radiant plume, I also have no problem tanking diablo while looking and marking all the doors throughout the fight (not fun at all and I hate it)

Not really an oversight, but lack of ability. Because, you seem to be unable to move while aiming this stuff, even though it requires camera movement, completely different sticks, unless you play one-handed?

Nope, aiming is set to the left stick, otherwise I would be able to move while aiming, like I described before. There might be a setting to set the aiming to the right stick, which is a thought I oversaw and will look into tonight when I am able to get to my system. Still even if there is a setting to adjust which stick you can use for aiming there is no issue with a adding a macro that allows for targeting a set location a few feet or yards in front of you.

Okay, I just remembered and now I know what you're talking about. You activate the move and adjust the placement of the move with your right stick, this requires you to change your camera angle. I'm talking about aiming with the R1 button which forces you to use the left stick to use for aiming. That in and of itself is another issue, being forced to adjust your camera angles in order to choose a location for a move... you shouldn't have to do that either because in case you are marking something behind you and the boss is in front of you, you are losing DPS on your target for the period of time in which you spend aiming. Shukuchi also suffers from that problem, because if you're usign Shukuchi to get to a point directly left, right, or behind you you have to adjust your camera angle which depending on the situation, prevents you from seeing some things happening around you. Granted Shukuchi is one of those moves where you have to see where you are going.

I've never had to move with the left stick, mine was right by default, and since you only have to activate the skill with r2/l2+button, the the aiming circle still stays if I decide to push out a RoH combo before pressing X

As a QoL improvement, I agree with this, but for the reasons stated, I dont. It is in no way necessary, but would make things easier. As a quality of life improvement, there is no real need for it (much like stoneskin2) but would be very helpful.
