The last i heard about it, it was going to be released with heavensward. Haven't heard anything else. There is also no such thing as lagless in MMO's lol.
Weren't they still planning where to locate the servers?
I think that, in reality, it was a 'we're looking into the possibility' statement, not a promise or definite plan. A bit like how NASA are 'looking into the possibility' of a Lunar Base or interstellar travel. They're thinking about it, not saying it will happen or when.
i'd love em to have it for 3.0 launch but it sounds quite a lot of work for 3months. At least i'd like to have some word about the situation or roadmap for when and what is being planned.
april 1st news: EU servers get transferred to the new EU datacenter. Characters on them can't be played for 3 months. Please transfer to a NA server if you want to play them during those 3 months.
Even if they do relocate the EU servers, how many people are actually going to move? I didn't even realise when I started playing that there was a so-called EU server cluster (which is entirely pointless if it's still located in the US) and I just rolled on a server a bunch of other people played on, and I'm unlikely to move now. Based on past MMO experiences, dedicated EU servers tend to be barren lifeless places filled only with people arguing in public chat about which language everyone should be speaking in.
Same situation with me. I even know UK players who've transferred from EU servers to NA servers as it's easier and more populated. It's possible to argue that a NA server has three main languages - English, French and Spanish whereas a EU server could easily have over twenty. For English speakers a NA server is often a best bet, regardless of whether you're in the EU or NA.
My ping is also usually between 90-100ms with zero packet loss on ADSL2. It's unlikely that there'd be a huge enough decrease to warrant paying for a server change and the inconvenience of losing housing, FC, friends etc.
That is not for every game.
On PvP you want lesser ping possible, and playing PvP in NA when you are EU, works only for people that, like you, have first class internet. Everyone else will be doomed.
Just look at titan ex, if you know the fight, it is a faceroll when you have ping zero, but you may be slided if your ping exceed the safe zone (40ms?).
They have never said it was coming with Heavensward... and it's too big of a change to not have mentioned by now.
All I heard, was there is going to be an EU dedicated server in the future. I expect that to be a long time ahead, and it could even just be something they are looking into, like others have said.
If you have problems with lag, use WTFast or something else that helps, because there is no point in waiting for this. The money sucks, but it's you're only option
Beyond lag issues, it's miserable being NA on an EU data center and trying to use DF in the evening. Started on EU for friends.. But ugh, it's really frustrating.
Just notice that what they said was that they were investigating/asking how to move the whole Chaos (EU data center) to Europe. If they do that, there's no need for transfers, nor any loss of FCs or houses.
So if you're happy in a NA or JP server, you wouldn't have to move either, as for you it would still be the same experience as it's right now. But those of us on the EU servers would be able to play the game with a better ping and less connection issues.
As for the when, I don't expect it with Heavensward. They would have said something about it already.
You're going to have to have more patience op. Setting up data centers is not a trivial thing.
I didn't know how much of an issue it'd be coming in, but I was aware it'd likely hurt at end game. Took my time getting to 50 on battle classes, but the hope was being in a FC of friends would make up for it. It was a response to those saying they didn't realize NA/EU made much of a difference.
My hope set high , so no official news about it :(
SE are going to move chaos datacenter, which have all the servers marked as EU on europe, most probably london, and just to follow the topic, its been stated on a live letter or something cant remember where, that they were going to move chaos whit heavensward patch, this and the dx11 client,if you guys want, i can link the letter where they say this, also it would be nice if a developer could answer, clearing this point up,since they officially said it was coming whit heavensward patch
When i bought the game - this was at release - i joined a US server because the EU servers were down and i did not want to wait.
Facing an English speaking population was not something to worry about for me (I'm French but i work in an English-speaking environment) - and so was the NA vs US timezones distorsion.
But when it came to end game content i realized that 1. Most of the US population of the server was actually from the West Coast rather than East, hence more schedule issues than expected 2. My ping sucked too much.
I adressed point 1 by moving to "TrollMoogle" but i regret it as people here are really... wow. I'lI be happy if SE set data centers based in EU (for the ping) that might host a lot of NA/Canada players (for the behaviour) tho
i just hope a developer take a look at this thread, and give us some info, even negative one would be nice,i just want to know if we get chaos on europe in 3.0 or not.
The only issue I have had playing from Europe is that my nins mudras are sluggish and not enjoyable to perform.
yep, that's why i need datacenter on eu XD. also spikes are bad, overall dps jobs will benefit most, and playing ninja from europe is just broken /sigh
I expect them to move the chaos data center. But the only things about EU datacenters I recall is before fan fast they stating looking into it and at fan fest saying basically we will have them... just looking for the location and infrastructure. But yes I do expect them to move chaos worlds to the EU in full(free transfer won't cut it unless they actually offer full population move).
As for the how long it will take. If you transfer full datadumps via the most bandwidth efficient path(aka load dumps onto many many drives and restore them back on site or even just make clones and slot them in) as long as it takes to load the inital dump, get on a plane to this side and restore. I'd say 4-5 days at max - and then sync them up with live data and just do a mostly seamless transition. And they could even reduce the desync by locking down certain less used features for the time(i.e. changing houses, choco dying, training etc...). Glamours and such. Basically reduce the amount of data that is needed to sync up in the end. This could be done for the most part with players being unaware. They could even take a snapshot and load that then sync it up. And you wouldn't even know it - they would just during a maintenance switch the stuff over and be done with it.
I think the eu datacenters will be here with the add on support. People from UK will have early access to them.
Japanese people are hardly direct, so it's not surprising that the statement (regarding real EU data centre(s)) was rather ambiguous.
All-in-all, I wouldn't hold your breath.
:/
Need a developer to answer and clearing this up.
no answers still,i wonder how much time takes for a dev or community team to answer.or maybe they just keep being sneaky as usual.
I dont understand this behaviour, even whit patch you never know what happen, untill like a couple hours before it goes live, being transparent about what they are doing should be top priority, this just show 0 respect about the players, which are customers as well, that pay for a product, and he don't even let us know what we are about to buy.cheers yoshi P
Bump , developer please answer us :(
Both the EU datacenter and the DX11 client are planned to be released with the Heavensward release. The EU datacenter is not only a possibility. They stated it's coming though they never gave an actual release date. SE doesn't like to give solid release dates except if they are absolutely sure about the date. I expect to hear more about those 2 things in the coming period.
I just hope that when the new EU server centre launches they move the current EU Worlds onto it, and don't just create new worlds. I like Moogle and don't really want to leave, I just want a better connection!
I'm not sure why people are saying this. I was at the London FanFest last October and the very first announcement they made during the opening presentation was that they were already working on moving the EU Chaos datacentre to Europe. There was no 'possibility' about it, they outright said they were doing it.
They still haven't given us a time frame for when to expect it though.
Of course they will move them. For SE to 'transfer' the realms it's just a case of copying the data and sending it over the internet. The hardware will be new.
I've kept my chars to the one datacentre just in case. I suspect, or rather hope, they would offer transfers to and from the NA/EU datacentre for free when it happens for a short time.
Please clear this up in Producer LIVE Party XX , Please Yoshi-P sama
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if the long HW maintenance of 24 hours is also including moving the EU datacenters to the EU. I would really like to be able to cast my mudras as fast as in the many presentation vids of ninja actions and play the class as it was meant to play. I mean, the reason mudras and ninjutsu have a .5s recast time is probably to 'fit' them in between the +/- 2s (with a.spd buff) of our global cooldown of our actions, right? :P:P:P
SE said that the EU data centre will be there in 2015, not during release of HW.

we are not getting Eu datacenter at launch of 3.0, they stated the worlds that get copied will be offline for 3 days. While the copy is being done, so expect to play Heavensward with horrendous connection. And sometime later this year we get a physical Eu datacenter. And as far as more information they have said that will come later. We can always hope that they will acctually drop one or two lines about it during the live letter today, but i doubt it.
I want them to put a server in Oceanic region. There are many third-world countries around here where it would be cheap to locate the data centre. Indonesia would be the best I think. Australia and New Zealand players would have a great connection. For Europe they could locate it in Eastern Europe to save money. MMO is the most profitable segment of the gaming market. This game as very popular.
