Bard's Limit Break, come Heavensward

More like a question to the devs to clarify, since statements from the Tokyo fan festival were ambiguous.

I really don't want a melee LB though...i kind of enjoy being the last resort against raid wipes.

I doubt even if bards will get a DPS LB, it will be melee. Probably a giant rain of arrows or something else ground targeted.

It was a mistake for them to implement Limit Breaks as they were at launch. I've always found the DPS LB to be ridiculous in that you just magically get a freaking sword out of nowhere - like wtf? Same with Bard - a healer LB?

I'm glad they're finally changing it to how it should have been from day 1.

Also, it almost sounds as if we will have our own LB's, rather than a PT LB. My guess is that the PT LB gauge will be for summoning and the like, and we will have our own "adrenaline" bars.

Doubt it.

Bards LB will changed to a ground targeted ranged AoE LB just like BLM and SMN, only with a new animation.

In fact, basically every job will be getting a new LB 'animation'
This doesn't mean LB mechanics are changing, only the way they look.

I don't know..... there's just something about using Pulse of Life when everyone's on the verge of dying except you, both healers down, tank about to be punched in the face....sigh

Though yeah. Maybe everyone will get the option to select between a few different LBs? Like for example bards could select a healing or an attack LB, like selecting a trait or something.

Well if the party doesn't have people dying all the time then the bard limit break as it is is practically useless in my opinion.

After this weeks raid I'm quite done using healer lb3. It's time for it to go, and I suppose I'm happy it is.

If Bard is just gonna be getting a single target damage LB comparable to the melee LB than I much prefer they just keep the healing LB. Honestly, why do Bard even need a new LB? Caster and Melee already got all the bases cover. It would be MUCH more useful for Bard to just keep their healer LB, why give them a damage LB when you already got a caster and a melee? The ability to save the raid when both healers are done is much more helpful.

If they're planing to give each job their own unique LB with unique mechanics and formulas than I predict a huge heap of unbalance issues.

I still think BRD's LB should be a massive HP regen, MP regen, TP regen, Atk up, Def up, Spell Speed up, and Skill Speed up for 20 seconds at LB3.

Agreed, it should be/ remain a support type LB.

But in the OP they said it was going to be a dps LB which makes as much sense as my left foot right now.

Either 1) it is ridiculously overpowered, or it bridges the gap between melee and range. In this situation, there is no point in bringing any melee at all anymore. BRD, SMN, BLM, MAC and when LB fills up, use the overpowered LB to finish the dungeon. Completely safe at all times, immune to all mechanics, free range of movement, birds eye view complete dungeon for faster and easier reaction.

or 2) it is underwhelming and thus it becomes of situational use only, ie the raid is wiped but the BRD, the boss is almost dead. You need that small push of dps and LB is available.

I don't even see the point in changing it. The original reasoning for not giving BRD a dps LB still stands and proven over a year ago when all party composition favoured either all range dps or with 1 token melee for LB.

Think they will just share a limit brake with machinist.
I think both same function but different animation.

So like melee limit brakes they would do same thing just looks different.

It really doesn't take much for melee to become obsolete again, that is the reality of the situation.

I know this is a topic that has been discussed to death... but I really like the current Bard LB. I've been in those moments where both healers are down, everyone else is dead/dying, and you have LB3 and completely save the raid. I've used it more than a few times on Titan xD I will miss it if it changes.

Considering I've used BRD LB3 to save EX Primal runs on 2 occasions (Shiva and Garuda), I'm gonna miss it come 3.0.

I thought only LB3 was being changed last I heard.
But Melee won't have Braver sword anymore which is LB1 and LB2?
So are all the Limit Break animations going to be unique now?

Regardless, with 2 ranged now it's likely they'll get their own category of LB.
Possibly still support based since MCH and BRD have a semi-support place.
And the other types are covered by Melee and Caster (though that could change).

I really wanted to see the new LBs in the last live letter.

Okay so the line thing might be speculation but it's what I interpret it to be.

That's as close as any type of confirmation.
That's actually the same interview I saw that only LB3 will change for the rest.
It's not entirely clear if it's just a visual changes for LB3 or there might be other differences like targeting.

Bard LB speculation:

Basic "DPS" LB (Deals damage to a single target and any enemy within 15 or 20 yards)
1: Bard charges a large arrow of light which streaks towards the target and sticks into it for a moment before exploding in a brilliant flash of light.
2: Bard fires a volley of light arrows which rain down around the target and stick for a moment before exploding in a fiery explosion.
3: Bard floats in the air as multiple large arrows of light appear around them, weaving around from behind them until they all rotate and fixate on the target. All of the arrows strike the target and then explode in a giant pillar of light.

Buff-Debuff Bard LB (The party gets a number of buffs depending on the intensity of the LB, likewise, all enemies within 20 yards of the Bard also suffers from Slow and Enfeeble)
1: Bard plays a song which causes musical notes of light to rotate around them until they crash into the ground, causing the area to glow with light. (10% damage boost for 20 sec)
2: A spotlight drops around the Bard before they strum a single chord which causes the light to shine outward. (30% damage boost for 20 sec)
3: A large orchestra of Horns, Flutes, and Drums join in the Bard with playing a short symphony, ending in an outburst of radiance (50% damage boost & Haste for 20 sec)

I think only the level three will change. Instead of damage it should be like a permanent buff. Like 20% increase of every stat =]

I just hate when i go in a dungeon and low and behold the other dps is a Bard... so much for lb
a Rain of Arrows or Arrow to the Knee Limit Break would be great ;)
