Would it be possible in the future to have a DPS class that can use a sword? I know we have the PLD tank class and the DRK coming out, and I enjoy tanking on my PLD but there have been times I'd like to play as a damage dealer and use a sword. They have always been my favorite weapon in history, and figured it'd be fun to have.

I got excited when the ninja came out, since most ninja use swords, short shord from the lore and history I've read. But the only other class i know of that uses a single sword would be the samurai, which i'm sure is to come, but i think that will be a tank class. So i agree wholeheartedly. If they did gunblade dps job, then the gun part of the weapon could be used for its ranged attack, like how a dragoon throws its lance, but most of the attacks could be melee range strikes with the blade of the weapon.

03-15-2015, 12:23 AMokamibanshu21have you never played final fantasy 8? its more like a shotgun/revolver. its only used during a close range attack. the 'trigger' activates during use, and YOU have to pull it. Sure they could HAVE a ranged attack, but it would be like the paladin, dragoon...possibly the marauder, havn't played that class yet. Otherwise just pure hack and slashing goodness.Quote:

One miss, or parry with a solid sword would damage or bend the blade so i never saw it for an armor attacking weapon. But i'd love to see the gunblade, as i said before, but aside from that, a pirate class could be added. Sabers being their forte, using pistols to attack from range, or even just pistol offhand, sword mainhand sort of thing.Quote:

I think a dual wielding sword class could work for a DPS sword class. Fencer sounds too red mage ish. But I always love dual wielding sword classes in every game that features them. Ninja uses daggers and I am not a big fan of daggers. I don't know that any class other than Ninja duel wields though :(

that would be pretty sweet. A sword slinger in general. But a duel wielding sword class would be a Duel Wielder lol. Perhaps name wise, Gemini. Or, like i said earlier, Pirate. Sword and dagger? Pretty nice idea though all around :) would be fun.

03-17-2015, 09:16 AMEnkidohFFVIII's gunblade is actually completely different in concept to the Garlean gunblades shown here in FFXIV however - here it is actually more a pistol with a very long bayonet attached to the side of the barrel, with the gun's muzzle clearly visible (End of an Era clearly shows Garlean centurions shooting at Alliance soldiers with them accordingly). Thus any hypothetical ginblade class would be more leanign to the gun side than the sword side of it.Quote:

if I remember right, Fencer was a Melee/DoT/agility/caster class I think from the tactics games, I would very much like this job, I think it would be fun
