NPC Choco Steal

How NPC use Choco Steal could really use a nerf, since they can steal an item so fast that you have no chance to even use that item. After a while this is really getting annoying.

I swear they time it where as soon as you go use an item, they steal it that instant.

It is annoying. Though, ever since I started to spam my item key as soon as I get something good, they've yet to steal from me. :D

Maybe they could add a brief delay and a subtle warning when steal is used?

I like it when I am like *way* ahead of an npc to where they couldn't even see me, and then steal an item as soon as I hit a chest.

Take note of which NPCs have the steal skill and whether they're directly behind you or not. But the best way is to hammer that button as fast as you can, while you're taking that item.

It works both ways though, I've stolen many items from players and NPCs alike in a similar manner. Time it in such a way that your steal occurs JUST as they touch the box and it's mine!!! Though I must say there have been several occasions where I stole an uber item from a player (Hero's potion/Meteor/Stamina) and it immediately got stolen by another NPC. I'm left as dumbfounded as the person I stole it from.

Steal III has a 90% chance. Yes it still can fail and it's useless when you're in 1st place. I think the way the NPCs use it is fine.

It's not, with human players you can still count on some sort of delay (reaction speed, network delays), but NPCs are way too perfect at this.

Should have a .5 sec from receiving the item til possible to steal. So many times I was smashing the item button before I even got the item, the item animation was running but it still got stolen. -_-

And it's true for Esuna and cie too. Looks like npc use frame perfect all their skills. Only choco-steal hurt you, but when I see an Esuna immediately used... I just feel that npc cheat. :/

NPC's seem in general kind of overpowered. Their reaction times at r100+ ratings are just inhuman which is kinda unfair since if you get to higher ratings sometimes you end up against ALL NPCs. Like another poster has said also I've had an NPC steal my item instantly when they are too far behind to even see me get the box....this shouldn't be possible even if it doesn't mean much since they so far behind anyway.

I think also they esuna or remove Heavy so inhumanly fast that the heavy does not even tick to slow them down while real players reaction is too slow to do that.

One last thing I notice is they (not always but often) tend to save items/abilities for specifically for the REAL player. Sometimes I see them holding items and abilities because I am not in front, as soon as I get in front they all nail me, I think that is totally ridiculous to have 7/8 of the racers seek and destroying a single player just cause you load in with all NPCs

Oh and they seem to be able to block you with their chocobo butts but if you try to do that to them they just go right through you.

Of course they save items.
It juste happens to me now: I m first. Seconde takes heavy in chest, Third takes heavy in chest. Seconde immeditely use heavy on me. Third dosen't use it on seconde. Third becomes seconde; he uses heavy on me.

Yuuuup, I am experiencing everything you guys have said. I feel the NPC are quite a bit overpowered, it begins at the R100-120 races, at this point the npc will have much higher stats than you even if you have been feeding it G1 food the entire time.
I did some experiments and invested in some G2 food to see the difference, I still got crushed by NPC but not so hard. So I guess if you only use G1 food for sake of having extra stats while you level up your breeder chocobo, by the time you reach those higher level races the stat difference between you and the NPC are so high since when you use G1 food you lose potential extra points to stats you would have gotten if you use G2 or G3 food.
But who wants to invest 110,000 MGP on G3 food from rank 1 - 40 for each chocobo they level for sake of breeding? G2 food is more gentle on the MGP / Gil but prices are different on each server so~
