Thaumaturge Range Difficulties

i started out playing as a THM and even though it is a great class to play i couldn't help but notice issues with how close you need to be to cast a spell.

you literally need to be standing 3 feet in front of a mob to attack them- now i'm not really a fan of having to suffer the humiliation of being KO'd by a bloody rat (Plains Rat to be exact) nor am i a fan of being bloody molested by a Dodo whilst trying to select my next spell.

maybe this range issue also affects CON's, ARC's and any other ranged class in FF14, but i would like to see this issue resolved in upcoming patches (though it will probably never happen). And don't get me started on issues with targeting- that is another rant for another time.

I am sorry, but there is something wrong here. I have no issues requiring me to get close to the mob in the least. I am easily ay 12 yalms .......this weekend I reaided on my 50 THM........got 39-41 on my CON, and did 3 leels on ARC. I have had no range isues at all.

Is it possible that you are having lag causeing these issues ?

THM has one of the longest ranges I know. It's one of the reasons I like playing them so much.

CON range goes outward in a circle from the target. THM's range is conal, going from you outward to the target.

Right there could be your problem. Maybe you didn't realize that the THM range is all about the direction you're facing. Good luck to you. :)

wait CON's range is...... a circle???

i..need time for my brain to process this information.....

my main problem is the range (or lack thereof). the range of a THM just seems not to be enough to me. maybe its because i've played WOW and the range of the magical classes is awesome. or maybe i'm just a whiny little *beep* that needs to shut up and enjoy the disco.

i can never tell.

Well yes and no on the circle. THM is a cone from the THM in a forward direction. CON is a circle AoE off the target.

THM has one of the largest ranges in the game. If you stack it with Paradigm Shift; the range is insane.

wait wait.... Paradigm Shift? is this an ability a THM unlocks later on in higher ranks, or is it an obligatory reference to FF13?

Paradigm Shift is a lvl 30 THM skill.

I think you guys are talking about two different things:

1. Range at which you can actually cast a spell, established by your distance from the mob (ofensive spells) or the player (defensive/healing spells).
2. Range of our cone spells once you've actually casted.

First one IMHO is shorter than Conjurers' one, second one is larger. IIRC Paradigm Shift affects second one.
I've found myself auto-cancelling my Sacrifice spell because of target gettin' out of range while a Conjurer behind me casts Cure without any problem.

I'll be making some easy tests and post data as soon as possible.
