Late to the crafting game!

Hello Everyoone and happy Wednesday!

I am a bit late getting into the whole crafting aspect of FFXIV. Crafting isnt something I usually do in MMOs but decided to finish them all and try it out. With only two more to go to have everything maxed out a small question has been burning in my head and I may require some assistance from more knowledgable people like yourselves.

Is it worth investing money into crafting gear at this point in the game? With the expansion around the corner is it safe to assume that all this gear will be rendered irrelevant?

Any help and tips will be most appreciated.

I have a strong feeling crafting will kinda be reset with expansion and be reimplemented with this "specialize" system they are giving us.

I would suggest leveling all crafts for the skills, but do not invest much in gil till expansion.

I would get the i70 gear from the item trade ins in mor dhona, atm the 4 star market is iffy at best(besides accessories) on most servers. You can make alot of money doing 3/2 star still and the item trade in gear in mor dhona is pretty ok!

Do you think its worth the time to get some of the higher tier gear (not money but just farming for gear etc)

Thats up to you seeing how you are the only one that can put a value on your time really, but remember to get alot of it you will need a desynth or to buy mastercraft/feildcraft demis

Let me do some quick side by sides of some gear and ill get you a better answer!

I would so something like this to start http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/PZGJ this makes it so you can do 3 stars easy and upgrade to 4 stars easy wont cost much gil cause all but off hand is share-able and it would give you a feel for how end game crafting goes :)

Oh wow. That link is very helpful. I think the boat on 4 star has sailed already but I wouldnt mind trying to tap into the 3 star stuff to make some money before the expansion though it wasnt the main goal when i started leveling up these crafters. I have started desynth on GSM/Weaver and Leatherworker (Were those good choices). Sorry for so many questions. But like mentioned before crafting isnt my strong point - its all still kinda confusing to me. Also, apologies, I didn't realize that there was a subforum for crafters (in hindsight - I should have known cause it makes sense).

GSM WVR and LTW are great choices once you get 90+ you will need dungeon drops to lvl up and those are great for that!

i would wait until 3.0 if you just reached lv50 with a crafting class. maybe get their Af1
