Will the physical version of the Heavensward collector's edition be available at multiple retailers (Gamestop, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.) or only available through the Square-Enix store?
I don't see why they wouldn't be available elsewhere. I had ordered my digital CE of ARR via Gamestop, it wouldn't make sense if that were to change for the expansion.
Now if there was confirmation of what their prices will be outside of Japan...
I tried to pre-order a physical Heavensward CE at my local gamestop and they told me they would not be recieving any. Also one of the employees was telling me SE has not been offering their Collector's Editions outside of their website since FFXIII. He had ordered Type-0 CE and had to do it through SE store. Being in Canada the price went from 99$ to 170$ after conversion and Shipping.
Called Gamestop today they said they didn't know anything about the Collectors Edition. They said usually CEs appear in their computer 1 day. They have no idea if they are getting it or not.
I was hoping to buy the game at Best Buy though because I have GCU there which is 20% off all the games.
Gotta wait till the 16th, but Yoshi-P is urging everyone to buy the CE so it should be in multiple retailers.
Question is , will it arrive on the day?!
any word about a digital cd? it was not listed..
AAR CE physical was on amazon and game stop i dont see why heavensward would not be the same
for some countries, we cannot order on Amazon they wont deliver in said country....not even in amazon of other zones !
so hopefully I can have it on teh SE site but I doubt..for some of us in Europe is just not possible...bah

They only make a set number of collectors editions. Some times I think they make enough based on preorders but after a set time they stop accepting preorders of them and then sell more on release day.
So if you order in the first week of the 16th you should be garneted yours I think.
that's just a bad business practice they released the 1.0 collectors and the 2.0 one for preorder from retailers and not every one bothers with the online purchase because they want a garenty that they will get it on release day. So yes it will be available from gamestop and the like.
I really hope that it is not exclusively SE store, I have moved to another country and SE will not ship a NA version to the EU, I had this problem with ARR for PS3.
Well, if you go to http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/product/#_purchase, you can see their current retail locations. Admittedly that might change once they add the expansion product page, but I will keep my hopes up :3 (Change the eu in the beginning of the url to na if you prefer to see North American retail locations.)
Me and my flatmate bought one physical CE from a local retail location, and one digital CE (since we didn't need two of those things and we're unlikely to move apart for at least five or ten years more ^^) from SE's own online shop.
that hasnt been udated since before 2.0 sibce the original preprder bonuses are there
UPDATE: I just spoke with a GameStop Corporate Representative. The person looked through their database and was a bit dodgy at first saying things like "at this time we don't have it available but check back soon because we update our website frequently" when I asked more specifically "I know you don't have it now, but will it BECOME available to reserve on the 16th like Square-Enix has stated or will it only be available on their website?" The rep responded with "It looks like it will be available on their website only as we have nothing on our end for this, I'm sorry"--blah blah blah etc etc.
So unless that rep. is in the dark like the rest of us, it appears this item is in fact a S-E Online Store exclusive. Be ready for 12:01 March 16th, 2015! The day the SE Online Store Crashed.
I think it only being available directly is good:
1. More money to Square to make a better game for us, without GameStop etc. taking a share
2. More copies available to us since they're all pooled together and every copy will be available to everyone rather than scalpers grabbing multiple copies from more-remote outlets to eBay for triple retail
Well, for what it's worth, I got my ARR CE from ShopTo.Net. I don't see why Heavensward wouldn't be available from at least the bigger retailers. Partly because as far as I'm aware, not everyone can actually order from SE's online shops (that seem to be as much in pieces all over the place as the imperials in Eorzea).
But guys, there's a live letter happening this saturday. Will likely be hearing about such details too.
I actually just pre-ordered with GameStop today. They did not have the CE for PC listed in their system, only the standard Heavensward expansion. So I went ahead and pre-ordered that. When the CE becomes available I'll simply switch my reserve over to the CE and continue paying on it until release. If this is the method you wish to take then I suggest you do so to get your pre-order.
Did SE switch the company that runs their store from Digital River to Pepitastore Inc. ?
Did they also changed the one for the European store? If they did I may buy from their store but so far I'm not happy with their EU store at all and I hope I'll be able to order a CE from another retailer than Square-Enix otherwise I'll just skip on the CE and just purchase the regular edition instead from anyone but the EU Square-Enix Store.
I heard horror stories about ordering from Gamestop and getting your early access code. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I worked at GameStop as a Store Manager (past tense) during the 1.0 launch as well as various other MMO's (Guild Wars 2) launches; my store did not have any problems with the early access HOWEVER, there were issues because of the lack of training GameStop gives/allows their employees to get. I seriously had to work like 70 hours a week to make sure my staff of 8-10 (depending on volume) to create hours for training as they never gave them. That being said I have no gripes with GameStop as a retailer selling games they are convenient and really go the extra mile (corporate does, not always at the store level) to making sure customers are taken care of.
That being said, like I mentioned earlier it seems like GameStop is not getting the physical collectors edition (they will probably end up getting the digital versions) based on a conversation I had today with their corporate offices (and yes they would know if they were getting them because they need that information for financial forecasting and such).
I just want the digital collector's... all my past CE statuettes got broken and the boxes are clogging up my already small room...
Thanks for sharing your life story.
